  1. Thats too bad. good luck, and hopefully it won't take you that long to get back on your feet.
  2. Excuse my ignorance, Sohan, but what is the workout you do with the sledgehammer?
  3. Thanks for the tip, as I do most of my skipping barefoot on a concrete floor. I havent experienced any pain, so i assume you are talking about a long term sort of thing.
  4. I do a bit of running and biking, as well as a cardio boxing workout on the heavybag (without any real boxing training). I have also done yoga a few times to try and increase flexibility.
  5. Ahh, living in close vicinity of both my parents and my wife's parents means that every Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving ect we usually eat 2 huge turkey dinners complete with desserts. Added to the fact that my mother usually uses these times (at least Chrsitmas and Easter) to go on cooking binges making tons of sweets, it is not a good time for dieting.
  6. Well, I don't think you'd want to show up to train smelling like a booze hound. Sweaty smelling would be better!
  7. You're doing great.
  8. Best of luck, hope you enjoy all the new house hassles, heh.
  9. Ah, for this i s just use my computer, it happens to be in the vicinity of my heavybag.
  10. I tend to use music as a timer during my workout since I dont have a clock at my heavy bag. I tend to work the heavybag in 3 minute intervals doing my best to keep throwing combinations and never letting my hands drop. So I set up a play list with a bunch of songs that are about 4 minutes each (Ive got a bunhc of favorites that are 3:40 to 3:50) So I wait out the first 40 or 50 seconds (this becomes my 'minute' break between rounds after the first) and then go at it for the nest 3 minutes until the song is over. Usually I use Sonata Arctica as it is fast paced Metal.
  11. If I were driving by, and it was just a verbal argument, I would probably keep going. Some people get loud and made, this doesnt make them a violent person. Im also a white belt, which would leave me with little to do should things actually trrn violent on my arrival. Heh.
  12. I would say apologize, but is that option still open to you? DO you know who you hit?
  13. Tekken Bowl was a special feature in Tekken Tag Tournament which was unlocked after you beat the game with every character. It was a bowling minigame in which you could use the tekken characters. Each one had different abilities, such as strength and accuracy. I couldnt find much about it online but here is a screen and a vid. http://www.elenafrancesco.org/info/events/playstation2/fotografie/12010045.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTQiO-hGzE Those two links are obviously from tekken tag tournment which is from 1999 or 2000. This next link is much newer (it has Steve Fox from Tekken 4 at least). I dont know if it is a feature in Tekken 5 or s something different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTQiO-hGzE
  14. Yes, he i sa mish mash of favorite/common wrestling moves. I havent played Tekken 5, but he's had all those moves since at least Tekken Tag Tournament (which is my favorite Tekken game. Not only does it have the moster fighers, but it has TEKKEN BOWL!)
  15. The Kings are cool, but I was never taht good at linking more than 2 or possible 3 moves in a row. I've got friends that can do 7 or 8 in a row, practically killing you all at once.
  16. Pizza for sure. And when I eat it I cant help but gorge myself on it. No matter how much I try to improve eating, I will always need pizza at least once a week.
  17. I see cheap pulley systems lick this for sale all the time. Has anyone had success with those?
  18. I just started ITF a few weeks ago. I must say it has already quashed many rumours that people unknowledgable to TKD seem to have ( at least online) in that it has makes abundant use of hands and punches, along with grapples and even two locks. I didnt learn andy of the grappling yet, but I watched senior students perform them. I love it!
  19. Frank Dux was the guy though it is suggested that he may be quite a liar. Wiki has some info on him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Dux Take a look and you can make up your own mind on him.
  20. Congrats. An excellent idea to quit. You can do it!
  21. My first name is Adam, so that the 'A' in A Train. The name came together more as a joke when I would say to my girlfriend (now wife) "You know you want to take a ride on the A Train". It was sort of just a joking arogance in regards to my loving abilities, haha.
  22. I thought it was a great movie, but I am a huge fan of Big Brother-sih themes (I felt the government in this flick was reminiscent of 1984).
  23. Warning Tekken geek answer coming: Jin's style WAS a Mishima style Karate for the first three Tekken games, but it changed for Tekken 4 and onward because he was betrayed by the Mishima family as they (both his father and grandfather, I believe) tried to kill him. He abandoned the style, retraining himself (into what may or may not be a real form of Karate). You'll note that Jin as a character has virtually all new moves from Tekken 3 to Tekken 4. I have not played Tekken 5 yet, so i dont know about that one. Hwarang is also my favorite.
  24. Congrats. But to someone knew here, could you explain the member of the month? Is it just based on posts? Or is in how helpful they are ect? Congrats again!
  25. Sorry for dragging up such an old post (it was on page 17) but I'm pretty new here, so out of interest and in an attempt to learn more without repeating any questions, I've sifted through the better half of all 37 pages of posts on the forum. Its fair to say I feel quite familiar with the regular posters on this forum, and know them much better than they know me. Hopefully that will change over time and I will become a frequent poster myself. Anyway, if there are any other 'mature' students looking to start MA and feeling nervous or silly about it, I encourage them to give it a shot and not worry. I almost didnt do it based on my age, and as it turns out I am among the youngest of the older students. There are people much older and in lesser physical condition (I say this with no disrespect), and they are doing just fine, and seem quite comfortable. perhaps we are more comfortable because compared to many of the stories here, there are many more adults in the beginner phases (about 10 that are green belt or less). We also have both family and adult classes. The youngst students in the family classes are bout 10 to 12, and in adult class the youngest is probably 15. frankly I have no problems working with students of this age as they all seem to be full of desire to learn and respect. I am not at a sparring level yet, so I may feel awkward if I am paired up with a younger teen, but 16 and over should be fine. All I can say is I love TKD so far, and have no regrest about signing up as an adult. Any lurkers who are considering it should definately take the plunge. Cheers!
