  1. Hi okimura! I don't have the problem of working my ma training around work, because at the moment i'm not working. The problem that i do have is finding a babysitter for my toddler Ethan. Sometimes she can't babysit or i can't afford to pay her. Obviously this sometimes results in me missing classes. What i generally do is work from my video's on my p.c and go through my grading syllabus at home, having a training partner helps too. Try doing this until you can find a suitable regime to fit around your lifestyle. Best of luck with that i know what it's like when un-able to train.
  2. Yay he did it Go Ryan. This was his syllabus Sanbon-tsuki, 3 there 3 back age-uke, gyaku-tsuki, gedan-bari, gyaku-tsuki soto-uke, gyaku-tsuki, gedan-bari, gyaku-tsuki soto-uke, empi, uraken, gyaku-tsuki uchi-uke, kizami-tsuki, gyaku-tsuki shuto-uki, kizami-mae-geri, nukite mea-geri chudan, mea-geri jodan yoko-geri-keage, yoko-geri-kekomi mawashi-geri Kata - Heian nidan, Heian yondan Kihon ippon kumite (basic one step sparring) He did it all really well and i was very proud of him. His next belt will be purple and white stripe. woohooooooooo
  3. Hehe yeah i can be scary when i want to be. I am almost 30 and still asked for I.D for alcohol (our law 18) and various other things. Thats the good thing about being small, cute and very young looking. You can scare people half to death while grading when you suddenly go for it in a fight
  4. I found out through word of mouth, went to look and that was that, never looked back.
  5. Hey guys tonight ryan is grading for his purple belt...5th kyu. Fingers crossed for him. I will let you all know how he gets on!
  6. I have never heard of this system at the moment im after an xbox360 and i just bought my son a nintendo ds for xmas.
  7. Yeah new beginner i remember, you were very helpful. I know what you mean about wearing the belts you can buy from the shops, they are like £3, so cheap! I'm also going to buy myself a new gi to go with the belt, an expensive one...the one im wearing now has gone a bit nobbly with all the washing and ironing. Oh goodness look at me making all these plans, the grading is six months away It's the excitement i guess.
  8. I agree with Brian on this one hun, i know sometimes it can sound harsh. I feel for you completely because i am much the same as you in the fact that i bottle things up until they explode, and there has been lots of times when people have taken advantage of my good nature and walked all over me. It seems that this is what is happening to you, i can see it as im reading your posts and i'm getting angry for you Yes a holiday may be a good option, maybe on your own without the kids and your boyfriend just so you can let off steam and think about your options. Your boyfriend's tendencies to always see the nice sides of people and never the bad is good in one sense, but on the other hand it's bad because they are taking advantage of this with their lax and awful attitude and you are getting the brunt of it all and it isn't fair. By the way, do you train in karate as well?
  9. Yeah it looked good to me, again very much bassai-dai but im not familiar with your style, so i can't comment to much. You moves were sharp and fast, looked good to me!
  10. Yes i agree here with what everyone has said, with our dojo we actually hand the money to the sensei so he gets paid every time. Don't let them walk all over you, you really need to sit with your partner and talk this through properly before things become un-bearable for you at home and at work (seems it's going that way already). I agree with you when you say this girl is grading for her black belt and that she doesn't deserve it, no your right if her attitude is like that then yes it's bad for karate. I don't want to over-step the mark here and i apologise if i do after saying this, but i think your boyfriend is being a little unfair to leave you to deal with it all, especially when it's clear that you are having difficulties and getting very upset. It's his dojo and he should take an active part in running it and dealing with a solving problems.
  11. Good luck with that, fingers crossed for you, i'm sure you'll do fine!
  12. Try doing some work on a heavy bag or kick shield, you have already meantioned the stretching which is a good thing. My front kicks are not very powerful either so this is what i do and they are getting better.
  13. Yeah it's good, shown on itv4 i think
  14. Yeah your right, i can tell now. I guess thats why most of out instructors have them, because they need to last them for a very long time.
  15. In general we use the ball of our foot with our toes back. But i guess it can be done in different ways!
  16. Yay well done to you Patrick and Happy birthday KF Lets have a party...i'll provide the jelly Seriously it's great, my life changed when i googled and found this site, i love it and the support in here is brilliant, as well as the laughs we all have. Kez xx
  17. Cool pic Brandon, cheers for that! Thanks for that info P.A.L
  18. I see where cheekymusician is coming from in the way of pad work. I can't really hold the pads for the blokes because it really hurts my stomache and really winds me.
  19. Yep its in the eyes for sure!
  20. Oh cool, thats great thanks Brandon, i will probably take you up on that!. Yes fish thats what i'm thinking there has been a lot of sweat and hard work getting to where i am, thats why i want my belt to be perfect...hope that doesn't sound stupid.
  21. Ohhh no way, i would much prefere something on it.
  22. Good quote Bushido!
  23. Yeah thanks for all the cool advice guys. I will talk to him about it. I can imagine his face if he said "err would you mind your name being on my belt" lol. I dunno. He founded the Shikata Shotokan so maybe i could have that rather than his name or just shotokan. I know i have a long time to wait (six months), but like i have said it's going to be very important and prescious to me so i feel it needs to be right. Once you spend that much on an embroidered belt you can't really go back if you don't like it. So guys another question,..... Satin or silk?
  24. Yeah we can have what we want on them. I'm just unsure about having my sensei's name on it in japanese, weather it would be a bit stupid, if not that it would be shotokan in japanese
  25. Oh poop! 239 this time, better than my first though...all those of you that are doing really well can all go away lol hehe
