  1. Training in general won't develop very much killer instinct, when it comes to getting involved on the street. You can drill and train all you want, in any style you want. However, developing the killer instinct is not just going to be a side effect of this training. In order to develop it, you have to create the adrenaline dump affect, and basically make yourself come out of your comfort zone. Competitions can help with this, and the more contact, the better off you will be. Naturally, some people are just meaner than others, and they find it out early on, fighting in school or something like that. I guess I should say that training can help you develop that killer instinct, but it has to be the right kind of training.
  2. Good point. It is important to practice these scenarios with resistance as well.
  3. I never got to see the fight, but I found out that Coleman got beat.
  4. Chuck Norris has been heavily involved in starting up his new World Combat League. In the past, he was involved with his Kick Drugs Out of America Program, and probably still is. As far as seminars go, I am not sure.
  5. I thought he was involved in some seminars, but he may be retired now.
  6. This is about all the MAs in the movie, if that's all you want to see the movie for. That's all you get out of the movie?
  7. I think the question is mixed up here. I read it as thus: Good teacher in a style you don't like, or a style you like with a teacher you don't? You can learn a lot from a good teacher, so I think that I would usually go with the teacher. However, I am used to being restricted to what is offered, so I can work with it, I guess.
  8. I didn't care for the "Death Touch Ninja Guy" at all. And I was not at all pleased with the TKD guy, either. He was quick, but he could have worn a shirt. I did see the other night how they had the TKD guy doing the reaction drill against the dummy, where they flashed the light, and he then did a series of hand and foot techniques. The kicks were to, like, the anlkes. I can kick really fast 2 inches off of the ground, too. Why not take me? Oh, yeah, I know....I sport the keg, not the six pack!
  9. See, that is a difference that we have. We don't do the push-ups and sit ups for our testings.
  10. Yeah, I just wish my 3rd dan wouldn't be an $800 milestone! Ouch $800 I am sorry that seems absolutely crazy. I have not ever charged a testing fee over 1st dan. But if I did it would be minimal. Yeah, I think it is crazy, too. It really makes me kind of sick.
  11. Very cool article. Lots of good information in there, that could be useful to just about anyone.
  12. Anything! Heck, all I have to do is breathe the air, and I get gas!
  13. Good info, there Patrick. I may have to educate myself on money markets. My wife and I will need retirement someday.
  14. I've got a friend who had to shave at 5th grade.
  15. What is the name of your town? I could look to see if there are any SCA clubs near you. I'd rather not put that out in public. I'll pm it to ya.Cool.
  16. That was cool. I really like the TKD tournament stuff. Their kicking power is really very good.
  17. You can find books like this for many different things. Take it, read it, and take it for what it is worth.
  18. Take a body mass index reading, and then check it again in 3 months. This will help you to best determine if you are working toward your goal.
  19. Cool exercise. Thanks for the tip, Sohan!
  20. The site looks good, but you should check it out anyways, before making any decisions. Vale Tudo would be a good time, I think. As far as tearing up your knee, if it is healed, I don't see why you couldn't do TKD anymore. You just have to know what your limits are, and how far to push yourself. That would go with any art that you study.
