  1. hardly know him. I think hes the guy off Crouch Tiger Hidden Dragon. Good film that so yeah hes alright. Hope I cheered you up!
  2. I used to watch that when I was a wee nipper, still remember it. Great show.
  3. I was trying to acheive this about a month ago when I decided that shoting out blasts of light from your hand probobly isn't gonna happen. I might start meditate. Anyone give any feed back on what KI really is and what you can really do with it.
  4. Try http://www.fit4martialarts.com
  5. I just went on their forum and told them to join karateforums.com as their forums sucked!
  6. Be swift on your feet, all the time moving on your feet never in the same place (make it into a dance). Never look at the oppenants body, look at his hands and his legs, you will then see when he is gonna strik or kick. Weaving is excellent. This done by when your oppenant strikes, duck, then as you come up you can either come back up towards him so then you can strike him, or you can duck and jump back with a kick or just somewhere to get your self back. Don't let nerves hold you or its called choking. Get it out of your system befor you go and fight. Always have a clear mind it should be like water: if water is clear then you can see the reflection so you see your oppenant, if it is not clear and smashed you cant see your oppenant. So just to recap. Move all the time, weave dodge and always looking at your oppenants arms and legs to see where there gonna go not at their body, also intimidate the oppenant by putting on a brave face abd showing that you are not scared of him (fear will cripple a fighter), and always keep a clear mind. Hope this helps
  7. I was wandering how long or how much you have to practice for how long, till karate can be used as second nature. Where your natuarl fighting reactions is to get into your stance and be ready to fight without having to require conscious thoughts. Where what you have learnt is actually used rather than your instinct being to run into the oppenant and throw punches everywhere. Thanks for you replys _________________ Kickboxer and Wado Ryu Karate SAMA Organisation Former black belt ECKA Karate 15 years old [ This Message was edited by: Eye of the Tiger on 2002-07-10 08:39 ]
  8. I've always noticed something in Van Damme films and Seagul's. Van Damme always has to get beaten up real bad at the end of every film, and almost always has to train to beat someone up, and then gets beat up and then suddenly beats the hell out of the other guy and always finishes with a bad ending. I don't think I have ever seen seagul take one hit in the movies. he is always in control of every singke fight so theres no surprises and you know nothing is going to happen to him. If they mixed the 2 films up they would have a perfect film.
  9. 360 outside cresent I think its called, well thats what I call it. Van Damme uses it in all his films.
  10. Don't forget Jean Claude Van Damme will be on tonight on channel 5 at 9pm in 'No where to run' looks good.
  11. Excellent. Especially the strengh part which is exactually the same as my philosophy that you dont need heavy weights to get strong, and they build inadequet bulk.
  12. Look into other styles of karate like shotokan, wado ryu, shorion ryu. Those arte the four largest karate styles in Japan inclueding Gojo Ryu. Or if you want to do Gojo Ryu wait around till someone that knows about this stuff comes along, I think theres a gojo guy here, I'l try and find him. _________________ Kickboxer and Wado Ryu Karate SAMA Organisation Former black belt ECKA Karate 15 years old [ This Message was edited by: Eye of the Tiger on 2002-07-09 08:10 ]
  13. I dont use weights anymore. For about 2 years I have been using weights to build muscular bulk. Then about a month ago when I got back into the martial arts I talked to a friend of my dads. Anyway he convinced me to stop bulking up and now the only weights I use is 1.1 kg weights for wrists and ankles. I build up strengh through muscular endurance and power without useing weights and I have never felt this great and strong. Pilates for endurance, Plyometrics builds power and strengh without your muscles buliking up toi much. For Martial arts you should concentrate on the following: Muscular strengh= Plyometrics Muscular endurance=Pilates Explosive Muscles(speed)=Plyometrics Resperiotary endurance=any of these running, swimming, cycling Flexibility=pilates, stretching
  14. Plyometrics= Muscular strengh, explosive power, speed Pilates= Muscular endurance, flexibility Running= Respiratory endurance Stretching= flexibility and also conditioning= kicking and punching the bag thats my little routine
  15. Thanks, I gave up on this post a few weeks back, no one responded. Thanks
  16. I would use Shotokan karate for strikes Tae Kwon Do for kicks Ju Jutsu for grappling and throws Muay Thai for conditioning Shaolin Kung Fu for agility or the body of spiderman.
  17. WHOOOAAAA!! I knew he was for real! I think hes just made a film or something. Anyway I'll never stop beleiving in this great Martial Artist. Great Signiture taezee, very motivating when I tend to get lazy when training. Thanks everyone for you input and hopefully everyone that has put him down will see that this guy is for real.
  18. I've also noticed in American films how the English guy is always the baddie Probobly about 1% of English people actually speak all posh.
  19. In karate when we spar we keep the low stance with tour hands being away from your face and works because you can keep the oppenant away through kicks and blocks.
  20. Who is he? People say he was a karateka, some people say he wasn't, sources on the internet say he was even the Eureapon karate champion at one point. Does anyone know AS A FACT if he was a martial artist or not. I made this post just to make sure once and for all who heis. So many people bad mouth him and he looks like a very good martial artist even if it is the films. I personnaly beleive he did do karate. Look forward to your replys
  21. Some people tend to confuse kindness with weakness. My Sensei is a very friendly person and not at all strict but is not a pushover. Any Sensei should not be weak but for example a really hard sensei could really push a hard student but could crush a softer student, whereas the kinder sensei can still tell the person what to do without breaking any student. If you want a class only of the hardest then it is a good idea to have a real hard ass sensei, but if you just want to teach stude3nts the art of martial arts then you can be more peaceful and kinder to them.
  22. Here we go with the stereotypes! We could also see the whole of America as hill billies. Anyway good positves from the rest of the Americans, we tend to see America as are very big little brother
  23. Actually Sweeden is the richest country in the world beleive it or not due to their banks or something.
