  1. or the ones who take an age to get to the limit or the ones who brake way before the junction....
  2. well, a lot of guys teach tai chi forms and tell people that they are for relaxation and health, spiritual blah etc etc. this is really a shame as tai chi actually has a lot of effective throws, joint locks and controls. y'know, this is one thing that really gets on my nerves. this misundrstanding of tai chi is because of people seeing a way of making a quick buck. as a result, the style that they rip off gets watered down and redistributed. it's happened in tai chi, karate, tkd, wing chun and if we're not careful, it could happen to all of them. a lot of guys go on to say how the modern mixed styles are the best etc etc but isn't a shame that these traditional arts that have existed for so many years are slowly dying?
  3. how can you be a "former pro wrestler in training"? either you are pro or you are not. there is no former pro in training. basically, what you are saying is that you did some wrestling.
  4. how about drivers who refuse to let you out, only to go slowly in front of you AND then don't let you pass...
  5. oh god, neopets is too addictive... those games are too.... ...tempting.... ....just a few... ...more... ...neopoints....
  6. and compared to the films of van damme, seagal, norris? last time i checked, their films aren't that successful... as for jet li, how many of the moves he does in his films look like they could actually hurt someone? jump, spin spin, tap... how many of us here actually like jet li films for the "realistic" martial arts? and sano, you've stopped making sense in your sentences again. what is "former pro wrestler in training"?
  7. i think you have to try every type of training and that includes point and semi and full contact. different environments train different things. the more different environments you experience the more you will learn.
  8. i thought you did shidokan...
  9. the style is only as effective as you make it.
  10. but they WILL strengthen your wrists, which is more useful...
  11. i always thought it was just part of the training, y'know, so you don't get used to doing "lazy" punches.
  12. well, you have his details on his website. fly over and enjoy.
  13. what's been getting on my nerves lately are people who make two/three word posts here...
  14. speaking of neck abnormalaties. have you seen that speed eating guy who can displace his throat to either side by about three inches... that is freaky.
  15. just pointing something out that tall guy was some kinda tkd pro i think but he kept messing up a simple thing. watch the little one from jackie's team. i know they have a lot of takes but still, when they get it right, it is just so precise.
  16. well, there isn't actually that much acting involved in the matrix is there?
  17. san da = loose hits san shou = loose hands both are chinese terms that every term uses to describe singular techniques. for instance, san shou in wing chun would be something like "lap da" or "pak sau, chung chui". as a style, san shou has kinda existed as long as there has been kung fu. it is almost just another training style. i've over simplified what i mean here but i hope you understand. what i'm saying though is that it wasn't invented several decades ago...
  18. just came to mind. i heard that shorin ryu is based on shaolin. does anyone know how similar/different they are?
  19. yes but we all know waht happens when martial artists try to act...
  20. don't worry about it. when you walk into that first lecture, there will be fifty other people in exactly the same position as you. what you should do is find the cutest guy in the room and sit next to/near them. the first person you talk to will probably be the person you hang out with the most for the first few weeks so make the most of getting to know the cute ones! ahem... anyway. really, don't worry about it. it's not as bad as you think. just remember, none of the "what did you study/where do you live/favourite colour/food/car/etc etc?" questions and you'll be ok. just cos i'm too nosy for my own good, what uni you going to? um, maye you shouldn't answer that one... anyway. i think the only thing you have to worry about is letting the work pile up...
  21. having a dump then seeing that you're out of toilet paper... or worse yet, not enough left...
  22. (major typo) he might want to move forward in a fight but they were doing a fight scene. if he can't NOT move forward then it says a lot about his control of himself.
  23. but once a style has been "absorbed" into a competition, rules and limits are applied. this changes what/how you then train. but i do understand what you mean...
