  1. well, that's kinda what i was leading to. a martial art shouldn't sell itself as "quick to learn, good for self defence for women" how quickly you learn depends on you. all martial arts should be good for self defence. all martial arts are for everybody.
  2. guys guys guys (and gal...) why so harsh? they can't help being whores to commercialism...
  3. but the maths work. the models based on separate theories work. and then the whole universe/expansion fits the big bang idea. it's just has more evidence pointing to it being true.
  4. that isn't how epr pair teleportation works. to use epr pairings, you need to measure each photon. you can't measure each individual photon in a laser.
  5. i know the form, just wondering how different schools do it. like i say, i have seen a few variations now and just trying to "log" who does it how.
  6. and you will need a good range of partners to develope good speed and reflexes.
  7. well, i got a good friend who brings me back a healthy supple of the tree juice so i'm ok on that front. sometimes i just add a spoon of good vanilla ice cream and pour a whole load of baileys on top. hot pancakes and ice cream is too good... but thanks and keep them coming! oh just noticed, what's "soft shortening" and how much is a cup (in grams or ounces please)?
  8. in your wooden dummy form, right before you do the double arm grab+stamp to the knee there's a bit where you make contact with the middle/low arm then with the same arm, hit to mid-section. well, just wondering how you do the contact to the arm? we do it like a forearm strike but i have it done like chum sau and i have seen it done as a gum sau (hope you understand). so please, let me know how you do it and what family of wing chun you do. thanks.
  9. well, this kinda started in another thread but i think it's best if i shift it so as to not ruin that thread. ok, pancakes. anyone got a good recipe for them pancakes you guys have for breakfast over there in the states? y'know, the thick ones... here in uk we only really make the thin crepes style pancakes and sometimes i get craving for a but fat pancake drenched in maple... cheers.
  10. well, think back to your first few months of training. what did you do? i remember spending a hell of a lot of time just punching, turning stance, stepping and switching hands. i'll admit that it takes less time to get good compared to other chinese styles but it isn't by any means fast. also, how many new people have the strength in techniques to actually defend properly? i don't mean against the usual one hit/break drills. how many new people have good enough position, stance and technique to defend. the original comparison for it being quick to learn realated to a time period of about five years as opposed to fifteen years for something like shaolin. don't get me wrong. wing chun is my life. i just don't like it when people hurl that idea around like that because it isn't really true... i think with about 6 months of proper training in core moves and with frequent sparring, you can begin to defend yourself confidently.
  11. y'know, when we want to work on our stances, we go and pratice all of the change-overs and supports for loion dance... nothing beats having another guy stand on your horse stance and jump over your head to test them!
  12. (chasing them typos) no, i just find your claims to be a bit unbelievable. microbiology engineer, trains in his own martial arts system, makes weapons in his kitchen, threatens people with lighters at petrol stations... anyway, the thing was, i asked about how you tested your weapons and i don't think i got a reply. i think you know where i'm going with this... as for the epr pair-teleportation thing. if you really do know that experiment, then you will know that it only works with ONE photon. this isn't speculation. this is fact.
  13. some kinda threeway with madonna, britney and christina... no biggie. not like they were on the floor munching on each other...
  14. are you fishing for arguments again?
  15. that's not love. that's just a randy fifteen year old pumped up on hormones...
  16. depends on where you are. in china, wushu is taught in many, many, schools.... as for wing chun, i think there are more guys who do this around the world compared to the others. mantis is still relatively small because of it's strict/small lineage.
  17. well, i still think that claim is a bit exaggerated. it takes a hell of a long time to get good in wing chun...
  18. i'm harsh coz that kid needs to learn not to make daft comments...
  19. and how do you make a big field? the size of the field depends on the amount of coils and the amount of power you pump in. both equate to having a big physical object. which in turn means you cannot have a small tokamak type projectile. and what is your example of teleportation? let me know the details and i'll let you know mine. yes, i'm sure you make them things at home... it isn't hard to rig up a capacitor and a reed switch to make a super charged cattle-prod. i've fused a screwdriver to my television once doing something i shouldn't... as for a cannon. well, a cannon is nothing more than a tube. you talk about near relativistic velocities... right. that's b u l l s h i t and everyone knows it. how do you know they go that fast? and where do you test this thing? how do you power it? and guided missles? do you realise how ridiculous you are beginning to sound? so, what job do you have that allows you to do all these amazing things?
  20. no, you make useful comments...
  21. sorry about that. i know i shouldn't rise to them people...
  22. oh yeah, coldplay are way too cool. if they're ever in town, go and fight for tickets. you will not regret it. clocks, played live will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end...
  23. hey, it's pretty ironic that you posted this reply to a guy who asked what "tricks" you could do...
  24. i sometimes help my girlfriend wax her legs. it's kinda kinky... but ahem, used to do it about once a week. not sure if it'll be different for us guys though.
  25. lately i've been all britpop and can't seem to get "common people" out of my head
