If you ask me, you just kinda need to accept yoru fear. In a fight, maybe you will die, and if there is anything youc and o to prevent it, then do it by all means, but you can fear dieing because wheres the point in that? It doesnt do anything. It is what it, so why worry?

If you ask me, the best way to control your chi (youd ont really develop it because you already have infinite) is jsut to start believing its there and that its real and chi can be used for all these things people say and then jsut practice using it, but meditation can be a good way to help realize allt hese and be more controlled over it, but ehre are always another way and you can find everything in nothing so you can practice it in everything.
-
Good answer. I have thought that before but no one seems to listen when you write stuff liek that.
-
When practicing you should put as much hip movement into it as possible because you want ot use yoru whole body to put power in it and what we learn is to shoot your chi out through your punch/strike and into the target. So we alway suse our hips because thats your center of chi or your hara (or at least around that area. Youd ont need ot have exagerated movements in striking but when practicing its a good idea because when you exagerate it all you learn how to get power in it then when you really need to perform it, it might not be as big of a movement but you will still have the power in it.

Hey. I jsut havent been able to find anything about Wado Ryu karate so i fgiured i would make a new topic about it. I just felt liek talking about a style i practice so i was just curious as to what everyones thoughts about wado ryu karate.
-
I do wado ryu and we dont really do that much groudn work but i dont really h ave any refference point as to what a lot is. We just do mostly basics and stuff liek that but in a couple of the higher level belt block/counters i have been taught there ere sweeps/takedowns. Also i think for one of the other belts there are a couple of takedowns from when your on the ground and someone is attacking you and their standing, but yeah. I'm not relaly sure what but i saw the words Wado Ryu and this is the first time i have ever seen someone talk about it on this website so i had to read it.

I'm pretty tall casue i'm 14 years old and 6 foot, but theres nothing wrong with being short. There are plenty of advantages to it. My advice to you is, get smaller. If you lower you stances so your really small they just have a realy small target and you can do whatever you want (or at least easierly).
-
Yeah pretty much is. There is a story i think it was like bushi matsumura but a guy attacked him and with a relaly big jumping attack and he just stepped around and kicked him into the wall. Jumping can be good but its not very smart to use against someone whos good.

homecoming troubles ( ahh crap)
Why_Worry replied to Son Goku the monkeyking's topic in General Chat
Really good advice 24fighintchickens and really good advice too shorinryu sensei. I'm thirteen but i've been having trouble with something liek this except its alo tmore confusing, its kidna liek one of those drama shows you see on t.v. except its not liek the problem is a dance, but whatever. Just felt like saying good advice guys. -
Yeah, i'm not saying light gis are worse but i personally prfer heavy gis to light ones. Its really just opinion but yeah if you want a shorter gi try tournament cut cause i'm pretty sure they are shorter.

Master vs. Master?!?
Why_Worry replied to haidongNC's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I have kind aseen masters spar because me and my senseis and my senseis sensei went to this chanbara seminar which is just like padded weapons and stuff and we had little "wars" with teams my sensei wwas against his sensei and two toher people. But none realy knew what they were doing when we were there but if you count my sensei and his sensei fighting then yes i have, but it was kidna crazy cause my sensei had this big sword thingy and a bunch of poeple had these padded spears and stuff and he like dived across the room and hit his own teammate by accident. And yeah, it was just like organized chaos and everyone just like went crazy. It wa sfun though. -
You guys are forgetting this is just sparring. Go have some fun you dont need to win. Just train and have fun already. You'll learn more when you're trying to have fun sparring than when your really really focused on winning.

best techniques to end a fight
Why_Worry replied to Ryan gry's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
White warlock, excelent post. I agreed almost exactly with you on everything except the confidence thingy ecept i think the way the other guy said it, it was ego either way. Confidence is being able ot walk away form a fight knowing you would have won and knowing you have nothing to prove. But that being said, thanks for writing all that and saying so many good points especially some i never even thought of. -
best techniques to end a fight
Why_Worry replied to Ryan gry's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think the best way to end a fight is to run. -
um....i dont really recomend sticking your head towards an oponent. I mean if it works for you then do it, but it doesnt sound very safe as they can easily hit you spine or something on your backr or like elbow your head or something. But whatever, your the one doing it and who knows it might work, thats just how i see it.

I havent read any comments os i'm just going to write what i would. I would jump back as far as i can and kick at him if he doesnt advance foward, but if he does you kick at him once or none then step foward and around pushing him and just do whatever youc an. Also, just when he keeps on punchingjust kidna liek push his punches to the side and push them to the same side so he gets off balance cause his whole body is facing onside and his arms are tied up and you have his whole side to hit at and remeber he cant kcik either cause he's too close. Also when me and my sensei spar before or after calss we like go crazy and everyonce in a while we get really close and if there isnt room to back up or we are cornered in the corner of the room or at least if i'm in the corner of the room i getin a horse stance and start like punchign as fast and crazily as i can until he has to back up (but he does a much much better job of making me back up) then i stick out my arm and kinda push him and then litterally sprint like i do in track out into the open. You know you dont have tpo be so restricted in sparring, you can run, you dont only have to fight or dodge, you can run too, it owrks even in sparring.

Ju Jitsu - safe for a 6 yr old?
Why_Worry replied to mamom's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
IT would probably be fine i mean even like a capoeira class would be fine for a 6 year old if it was designed for 5-7 year olds. If the people seem nice though then its fine otherwise get out of there and go to one of the mcdojos where everyone is a faimly and nice and work hard but the odds of finding a mcdojo like that is very unlikely especially since its not really a mcdojo anymore, but just make a logical judgement if it seems fine. I also doubt the instructor would still be teaching if he did dangerous things in class for kids. Oh and never go anywhere with a contract just to say that real quick. -
Hit-O-Meter punching bag
Why_Worry replied to TomTom's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Wait, what does it time you for? I mean whatever it is 0.05 is realyl good but i don tknow what it is for. -
Since they are alot alike it will make it even worse. As the story goes the hunter who chases two rabbits catches neither. Training in more than one martial art before you have become proficent in the others isnt a good idea because you can get them mixed up and stuff liek that and other reasons but for this i will use that first reason. You'ed probably get the two mixed up just liek in karate class we have been studying escrima as well which i never really understand why but i trust my senseis and from what i can tell they are very wise even if they try not to act liek it so yeah, i'll just go by their instruction.
-
I have seen my senseis' sensei take a big barrel that is liek 3 feet tall and fill it with rice so you cant even liek push yoru hand into it cause it wont go anywhere but then there was this little red ball at the bottom that fit in his hand so what he did was with his fingers he smashed into all the rice and grabbed the ball from the bottom and took it back up. I could like barrel get my hand in. THen he put it back too and did it again.
-
Yeah, where i go its wado ryu and everyone who is a junior black belt or lower ties their belts so it crosses at the back.

Wher ei go we do fingertip push ups. This all reminds me of an okinawan master named agena but odds are if you look him up you wont get anything but if you read the book the weaponless warrior you will find info on him (jus tto prove i'm not makign this all up). But he trained his fists and fingers extremely hard as well as other things but with his fingers he could doo like amazing things. His friend bet him that he (his friend) could strip eight feet of bark from a tree with a chisel faster than Agena could strip 8 feet of bark from a tree with his hands. So they started and he punched the tree to loosen the bark then pulled it all off with his fingers and he was done befor ehis friend was even half way done. Also anotehr story was a man always asked him to show his "secret skill" so envetually when the man was odl he said ok if you can really call it a secret skill and he walked over the the big wooden partition of the bathhouse and he kidna jsut waved his hands or thats what it looked liek because he was going so fast. THe old man said he didnt understand what he did but then he told him to look and there through the wall was 10 finger holes which agena had just made with his fingers. There is another story that he did but it was too long so i'm not gonna say it, but yeah.
-
Yeah think about it. you have releases right? Wlel trying using liek a wrist release to block a punch and drag them to the ground or the most fun and a good way to humilate someone or just amaze yoru friend sis tell them to punch at you and you step the the side and grab the presure point on their hand and take their whoel body down with two fingers. Its fun. With all the pressure points you can pretty much make a grappling hold or make it into a sweep/throw or anything. I mean when you practice releases with pranters you learn so many different ways to grab poeple even if there is a way of getting out all you have to do is modified each hold a little bit and its hard to get out.

he he I feel you.I would take a Okinawan style,Japanese style,Korean style,Chinese Style,Thai Style.Filipino style,Indonesian style,Hawaiian/American style....I could go on for a long time.lol, i agree with you both. If you ask me i could learn so much more from just practicing karate than actually going to school. I wouldnt learn about liek too much american history or math but i'd learn about life lessons and zena nd other things liek that from just practicing and i mean which one is mroe important? It actually make logical sense that martial arts are more benifential than school but i have to go to school for now so yeah.
