  1. i was gonna suggest that you open it up, hold it in one hand, and start moving it in an up and down motion using only wrist action. you should begin to feel the air flow from there
  2. Welcome aboard
  3. From what one of my training buds have said, the air shield has a tendency to "flop" around alot especially when doing certain kicks. This is most likely due to the kick being off center or the shield not being held tight enough to the body of the holder. Being that it is filled with air, it doesn't absorb as much as the foam filled shields which in his mind, and mine is most preferable. At least with the foam even if your slightly off target with a kick, it still can absorb the power versus creating that "bounce" effect off of the air shield. It would be nice to experiment with an air shield, I just don't want to pay $$ for it, and if I don't like it be stuck with it.
  4. I was unaware that they embroidered uniforms. I know that the embroidery on their belts are tops since I have one of their belts as well
  5. I have not used an air shield personally, but from those that I have spoken to that had used them say they've had negative experience with them.
  6. Another option is to contact an upholster and see if they can make what you want in the color you want. My buddy has a friend who is an upholster, and he made him a big 'ol crash mat for his dojo.
  7. So far this is what i found in yellow: http://www.boxingstore.co.uk/pc/6/1/Title_Fitness_Hook_&_Jab_Pads.asp

  9. Welcome to the forums Clint
  10. how about here: http://www.superiormartialarts.com/catalog/uniform/wushu.html
  11. I haven't worn a V-neck since my TKD days way back when so I'm not sure about the "roominess" improvements made to those types of uniform. Plus from what I remember they were fairly thin. I'd probably be more incline to use the regular karate type gi. Easier to get into and out of the jacket
  12. Several years back I received one as a gift. It was a very nice uniform with the embroidery on it.
  13. Welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy your stay
  14. And yet another version is to do the double front kick off to an angle, landing in a front stance with a reinforced outward block. Same kata, just different interpretation as to where the attack is coming from or going
  15. As I suspected, it was Isshin-ryu and the katas were Chinto and Kusanku, or a variant of them.
  16. Cool, welcome aboard
  17. Ice, Have you checked out this place? https://www.satori-gi.com I had a custom gi made for me several years back, and cost me arond $130US. Not bad for a custom quality gi
  18. I use Tiger Claw and KWON. Both are equally quick in fulfilling orders, but TC is by far quicker in shipping. Probably just because KWON ships out from the midwest, and TC is in the Bay area. Both I find are also probably equal in quality and choice. Some items are better than others, and so forth. I've also ordered from Academy of Karate Martial Arts, or https://www.martialartssupermarket.com They have a large selection and wholesale pricing
  19. Cash is always good
  20. Wow....good luck on your surgery. I just read up of Stan Schmidt, JKA BB from South Africa. He had to have double hip replacement surgery after a bad car accident some years back. He still trains, and obviously had to alter his training, ie..no deep stances and all. So it is still possible to stay active in MA with some modifications to your training
