  1. Skipping of belts is totally up to the instructor, and the knowledge of the student that can properly demonstrate the requirements of all belts to be skipped, and to the rank they are suppose to receive. As for the question of which belt they are to stop skipping....again that is arbitrary and up to the instructor in my opinion.
  2. WHAT!!! I was watching the Military Channel for programs saluting the men and women of our Armed Forces, and the sacrafices they made in the past and present, and with any luck, not too much in the future to come
  3. I'm hoping that one day someone will come on that has a pair of Sai made from these guys, and provide a review. I've asked the same question at one point, and never got an answer. Well here's crossing my fingers
  4. Dude..chill a bit here, no need to "Yell".......if there is one thing your training should teach you is to maintain control of your emotions, or at least at the most appropriate times.
  5. Well if you could afford one, check out the Century one. Many years back, I had one of the original ones they had, and I found it to be helpful, especially as I got older. Unfortunately it found itself under the front tire of my SUV Never got a replacement tho
  6. comes with it's own holder
  7. Eventually you will see the kata in your mind, feel the kata, and lastly be the kata when you perform it
  8. I'm not sure on a "perfect" fitting cup, but I just bought this one, and it's cool cuz it flexes on the sides so it doesn't cut into your inner thighs. http://www.shockdoctor.com/midBand/midBand.html When you click on the link, click on Core Protection, then you'll see the groin cup I'm referring to. It is the first picture on the top.
  9. Most all foam sparring gear are comperable to each other. Depending on it's usage depends on the life of the equipment. Then you have the soft vinyl gear that again holds up well. Once you move into leather, it would include head and hand gear, but I've personally have not seen leather foot gear. So I guess it boils down to how much you're willing to spend

    Moveing

First, let your sensei/sifu/sabunim know that you will be moving. Ask them if they know of any reputable instructors in your new area. Often, a letter of introduction from your current instructor will open a lot of doors. If there is no school that teaches your style, find out what schools ARE there, and again, check with your instructor and see if he can help you figure out which might be the most complimentary. Aodhan Very sound advice
  11. Welcome
  12. Move on with your training. Don't let her guilt you into feeling bad. Sometimes it is just about needing some "attention" that they may be lacking elsewhere. Even with her own admission, its just something that comes with the nature of being involved with martial arts.
  13. welcome aboard
  14. Good Luck, and may the force be with you;)
  15. Just think of forcing the air up and out from your diaphram(sp), and projecting your voice, or whatever sound you make forward
  16. Right On Welcome aboard
  17. That's unfortunate for him. Don't know what Kelly Le Brock ever saw in him.....plus he ran like a girl even in his better days
  18. Umm..I don't think that's changed
  19. I like the way you think To throw a wrench into the "McDojo" issue.....would you say that Nishiyama Sensei, Demura Sensei, Higaonna Sensei, Kobuta Sensei dojos fit the "McDojo" build, because certainly these instructors all have been in magazines, in Hollywood, or seminars. They are all very successful with their dojos. I'm sure they have very good BB, and some mediocre ones too. They probably have a range of students that earned their BB in the shortest amount of time to the longest amount of time. So shouldn't they be include in the closures too I personally think that your energy is best spent in training yourself, rather than worry about others who go to the defined "McDojo"
  20. Just a bit of overkill ...Must have been developed by a "kenpoist"
  21. Welcome aboard
