  1. I agree wit TJS, in class especialy a month or so we always drill the basics. EX. do ten armbars on each arm from the guard, then ten triangles, then ten kimuras and so on. This also works with sweeps and passes. Soon you will probably do the techniques naturaly, without realy trying to rember them.
  2. I was hoping diaz would win, but I was impressed by Sanchez. Its sucks that Karo got injured, I thought he had a shot against Hughes.
  3. Here's a good one, I have been going to one of my old instructors students schools to improve my stand up. So I was sparing at about 50% with a guy around my size and we were about equal, only he did not have an answer for my leg kicks. Later we went to the ground and he was a fish out of water, I tapped him very quickly. But now hee sees why the ground game is important.
  4. I dont know about everyone else but in our BJJ school we use alot of Judo and wrestling take downs anywaybecause we have a Judo Black belt in class and also a wrestling coach some times So I have to go with BJJ on this one
  5. I studied Karate when I was very small, but my old instructor and I are still good friends. I also do JKD before jiu-jitsu every class, and I like it better than the more traditional arts. How long you been in BJJ?
  6. If you are in school how about the wrestling team, that would be perfect if you wanted to go on to another ground art like BJJ
  7. It started when I asked my old Karate instructor where I could learn the submissions I saw on the UFC and he told me abot Jack so I went up there and loved BJJ right off the bat so I joined the school, that was about a year ago. How long you been in jiu-jitsu?
  8. We're taking bets over this one in class, best fight on the card if you ask me. I think I like Diaz in this one how about you guys?
  9. BJJ is: white, Blue, purple, brown, black you need either 4 or 5 stripes to move up a belt
  10. Will do. Hey, I got the Eddie Bravo book, I realy like most of it, especialy his rubber guard and half guard, the Lock Down is awsome especialy with Old School. He talks about Jack on page 9 but it says Jack won.
  11. Yea, Megaton comes every spring to teach a class and give a siminar, its awsome!
  12. His name is Jack McVicker I just looked at the book on amazon and will buy it soon.
  13. Thanks alot, my instructor said that he beat bravo in a competition when they were blue belts but he said that the book claims bravo won.
  14. Matt Hughes Karo Perisan George St. Peir (spelling is horrible I Know) Shogun Babaloo Ryan Gracie Fedor Jason (Mayhem) Miller
  15. I would probably stick with BJJ, you could ask the instructer in that class if he knowss a good stand up school near by, because alot of BJJ schools are now starting to cross trian in stand up arts. But, you should do whatever suites you best.
  16. Roylers No-Gi book, Jack Mcvicker told me I should look at it because thats realy how he rolls
  17. I looked at it, but I like Roylers books better
  18. whats up with rickson now, I heard Bas Rutten called him out but rickson backed down what happened?
  19. the same blue belt a used the x guard on got me in a gogoplata I had never seen it before and just kind of let him do it after class he showed me how to do it and defend it so I guess it was kind of a good thing he did it
  20. another good way is to take your trapped arm and grab you own pants or belt, but then you would have to watch for the omoplata
  21. The Abu Dabi dvds looked great, but they were like 80 bucks About the kids fighting I read in The Gracie Way that they settled most arguements through fighting
  22. I thimk i'm going to get the gracie in action dvds that I saw in grappling mag but i would also like to get a set of abu dabi dvds
