I went to class last night and there were three young guys and myself. It seemed like a fight club for a little while. Two of the young guys were fighting, pretty hard, while the my sempai (who was running the class) and I watched. Our Sensei dropped by so I didn't have a chance to fight one of the guys... It would have been fun.

That sounds pretty cool. When I joined up with kyokushin one of the first things that really drew me in was the self-defense.

It would be pretty cool to see one. Fighting in one I would never do though.

Training Several MAs

With family that would be almost impossible though, unless the kids are some of what you're doing. You'd have to get a commited baby-sitter and spouse. -
It's a local place and it's run out of the basement of a shopping mall. I know nothing about it, but I think a man in my dojo may already be going there. I think I'll check it out wednesday night if I'm not beat. I only train with gloves about half the time and I never tape up my hands. More things I may have to get used to I guess.

I'm confused about what this post is asking or stating.

Worst pets ever---ferrets. They stink! And anyone who says they don't is just used to the smell!

We have one in two weeks. I'm getting excited for it. It's two full days, plus one evening session and one morning session. I get to camp out! It'll be so sweet... I'll get to have my own campsite hopefully. I've never been to the location or the camp, so it will be interesting. Apparently there are no showers, but I'm hoping to nip home in between trainings to take a shower some time. Ahhh...karate camps.

There are such places I think...but I wouldn't go on the net to find them.

Have I failed as a martial artist?

You'd be surprised how thick people can be. We were doing non-contact sparring the other day and I had two partners who kept a)making contact and b) making kicks below the waist even though our Sensei reminded us not to do both of these things. -

I'm just saying that I'm not particularly good at either. I like to spar in-class though. It is always enjoyable. -

You blow my mind White Warlock. My hat off to you. -
I laugh the hardest at people who only work out. Especially when they never do cardio or anything like that. I look at them and think, sure you have muscles, but what can you do with them? Steroids are used even in amatuer competitions... I think going to the gym every once and a while is okay. But once you start focusing on your muscle size, instead of what your muscles can do for your when you're doing sports, then you're going down a weird, drugged out path.

Star wars Episode 3 : aww yeah!!

George Lucas dreams big, but can't make his dreams completly fleshed out. The fights: cool. I watched the 4th movie the other day and the fight between Obi-wan Kenobi and Darth Vader was so lame in comparison to the new movies it made me laugh. Still love the old ones though. The sets: cool. The clothing: cool. The acting....... the script......... shoot me in the foot bad. "I could have made the script ten times as good" kind of bad. -
How many pounds/kilograms are the flemish giants? Mmm...rabbit....

What you, Kane, described sounds like what my friend told me. Shotokan doesn't go stripe crazy or anything does it? If two people have a white belt and one is 8th kyu and the other is 4th, how can you tell?

Ouch! Making fun of me...

Well, it depends. If you're talking just about lettering, patches or other options.

There seems to be a Japanese movie that was made a few years ago about Sosai Mas Oyama. Has anyone seen the movie? Could you comment on the movie? Where did you see it? Do you know where I could get it online (with subtitles)? Thanks!

Very impressive. My hat off to you for staying sane. May I ask what job you are able to have while doing ten training sessions a week? I think it would be difficult to do any job while you are exerting yourself that much physically. -
ELVIS PRESLEY "KARATE KING"
ivette_green replied to HARD HITTER's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I was looking through a book about Elvis, written by his step-brother. There were several photos of Elvis either in his gi or doing karate-type movements. There was a close-up photo and on his gi there was a patch that said "pasaryu" on it. I don't know anything about the style. Can anybody give me a quick over-view?
