Teachers all have their strong points, you're is fighting. But that doesn't mean you can't throw some kata into the mix to round out your cirriculum.

I agree. I believe you said before that you're a nidan, you should try to see if you can open your own dojo. I'm sure there are places you could rent for cheap.

When you're just talking about one type of karate dozens of factions can be mentioned. I know that with kyokushin karate there are at least a dozen off-shoots. I'm sure that the same can be said of most distict types of karate. There would be hundreds of types of karate. Some probably just being one Sensei and his/her dojo. I'm sure that there are lots of obscure types of karate that could keep this thread going for years trying to list them all.

What do you carry to the gym with you?
ivette_green replied to IcemanSK's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, I carry the usual: Gi, shin pads, gloves, mouth gaurd (which I never use in class), some toiletries (deoderent, etc.) and oddly a small pharmacy. I carry a little bottle full of pills to fix what ails you. Tylenol, advil, sleeping pills, multivitamin, vitamin C and some other stuff. I forget what prompted me to stick that in my bag... -
Yeah, all the things they try to slip by you. Like Boone offered Shannon an Apollo chocolate bar? I want to know where he got that... Is Desmond just leaving candy out, or what? I loved when Hurley was on the tv in the house of the man that Jin was threatening (well, supposed to be threatening). On the sites you visit, did they nickname Charlie and Claire PB&J? I think it's just a weird nickname.

That was the best episode this season, though that's not saying much so far. I think I missed a lot of things in that orientation movie. I didn't catch the polar bears. Did that guy giving the orientation talk say that Hanso. Corp. was in charge of the Dharma initiative? Something I also missed... Well after this wednesday's part episode I would say no, the other stations don't have to enter the numbers. Or else that abandoned one with the tailies in it would have exploded by now. I didn't notice that shark-tail thing, but someone in the forum did. I wonder if Rose will get a back story episode now that we've seen Bernard. She's cool, but I think maybe not hip enough by execs standards to get her own bio.

My favorite site that I, sadly, can look at for hours is http://lost-forum.com/index.php? I think it's a good community. It seems female dominated, but still a good site. I think Jin speaking english can't be real. It must be someone's dream or maybe a vision like the one Shannon had of Walt. And just for the record, I think that black cloud thing is nanobots. I think the nanobots were what Shannon saw in the shape of Walt. The nanobots are the thing that will destroy the world if the numbers aren't entered into the computer. Nanobots are what killed the pilot and almost dragged Locke down into that hole. I think maybe that magnet is keeping the nanobots on the island. I still don't know where that polar bear came from though... I wonder where crazy Desmond got to at the end of last episode? Maybe he'll go live with the French woman.

It's natural to make a non-sensical sound when you're happy or sad. When something good happens most people go make a woo-hoo or something like that. When you're scared or sad for some reason you'll sob or yell. If you force kiais I don't think it works, but at the end of a kata that you felt you did pretty well at it feels natural to yell.

You're lumping together people who happen to not go out and get smashed every weekend with fanatical religous groups. Just because I choose to seldom drink doesn't mean I go on and on about how no one should drink and you're all evil. I've never met anyone ( or heard of anyone) who's ever said anything about people drinking at all or too much. Maybe you secretly live next to a town full of Amish people. Drinking to get drunk and drinking to enjoy your drink are quite different. The former I shun, but the latter is what it should be about.

We get episodes on Wednesdays in Canada. It's not like we're half a world away likes the Aussies or Brits. I bought season 1 on DVD and my parents and I were frantically watching it before the second season started. My parents started to watch it on tv at the end of season 1 and were like "Hey, lets watch the episodes from before this to find out what's been going on." So we watched the whole season in about two and a half weeks. It was difficult to find times when we were all at home, but we did it! My mom doesn't like watching it on tv now because of all the commercials. Well, that's what you get when there's only 42 minutes an episode.

Do I really need to answer the question? I bet you can tell who my favorite character is as well.

The best answer to the "how do I beat this style"
ivette_green replied to SenseiMike's topic in Karate
Saying that a guy with a gun could beat the highest level of black belt is a self-defeating attitude. Nobody trains to dodge bullets. -
Wow, shodan at 16. Good job.

Why thank you for the link Feels! And you're right about the Brazilians.

My cello's a piece of junk. It doesn't sound horrible, like it's trapped behind a wall, y'know that muffled quality, but it could be better. Much much better.

The best answer to the "how do I beat this style"
ivette_green replied to SenseiMike's topic in Karate
I just can't see a person who has trained equal time in TKD beating someone who has trained BJJ. It seems apples and oranges to me. -
I'm with Steve_K over Makato. Everyone loves to think that what they do should have nothing to do with other people and "How dare you judge me and tell me what to do!" Well, what you do effects all of us, whether it be in a small or big way.

Oh common, tell me how much you paid. You'll laugh and be shocked, but mine cost five hundred Canadian dollars.

Hey Darkness, where in Canada do you live?

Anybody read that "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" book?

An amusing note... This Iranian I correspond with pays 30,000 Iranian rials to train every month. That's about four canadian dollars, three american dollars, or almost two British pounds. And I thought 30 canadian was cheap...
