  1. Why would a ju-jutsu coach give you thai posters when he's a grappler?Anyways about bando,I've heard it's similar to muay thai, but has more things in it like grappling.(don't know how much truth there was to that)
  2. I'm not too familiar with point sparring anyways. At my dojo I just spar , but with light contact. When they put the points in there,it get's annoying for me.
  3. "nearly all bullies are victims of some kind of mistreatment" Why do you say that?
  4. "I speak Valley fluently, like totaly dude! " What language is Valley ?
  5. By the looks of things I'm guessing that you learn kali and judo at another school(s).
  6. lol, mines too.At first they didn't like it , but then they got into it as the movie progressed.
  7. "We do however, have of moves involving Nagashi, or moving diagonally off line...so if a punch is coming in, we move our hips, and our bodies, off line, while keeping our front foot in the same spot, the back foot follows the hip and plants, as our wedge/Block and counterattack land." we do that too . but my instructor calls it tai sabaki or something like that.
  8. don't the burmese have a similar art to muay thai also?
  9. does he go easy on you when you spar with him?

  11. don't worry about checking out several schools. It's better if you do that then just jump into something without knowing what else is out there. Also about the organization thing, it's not really looked down upon, but it helps you sort out which school's are legit or not.One more thing if you find out what organization it is , look on the net so you can make sure it's a real one.Because sometimes people will make up names or start their own phony organization.
  12. you used a crescent kick against a knife attack?
  13. wow your patch has so many meanings,do you have to memorize them or something?
  14. well Tensho is the last kata in my dojo's kata list,so I'm not sure about me learning it yet.Right now I'm perfecting my saifa
  15. lol,I guess it's not that bad,but wouldn't it be distracting from learning in class?
  16. "Even the inside crescent is well telegraphed." exactly, that's why I just do it for fun and not in sparring.
  17. guess so.i had a buddy that want's to join , but money is the biggest issue.
  18. I guess I've never seen a group of white belts practice it.As for me they have randomly taught it to me,so I don't know it very well.
  19. forget about it being slow... have u ever hit that kick against something solid? it can mess up your knee bad... hmmm no , just my punching bag, but I'll take your advice.I need to protect my knees.
  20. "Also, it would help to understand Cantonese or you will not understand the jokes or the idioms they use" That would help, but I don't speak the language. It would help me if they made kung fu movies in english or spanish, but I don't see that happenening anytime soon.Oh well they were still very good movies.
  21. no problem, a lot of people feel like that. Also warlock, what in the world is that picture you posted on here?
  22. wing chun is great , but very visually unapealing. While it's extemely effective,it's overly simple.anyways practice whatever makes you happy.Anyways the karate school doesn't look bad.The only thing is that they don't have anything that shows if their part of an organizatin or not.
  23. well it depends. For example your style is always full contact ,so for that instance then yes.In Karate and many other traditional arts while some do have full contact, many are just point sparring practitioners. That means that they just lightly tap you with their punch or kick and they get points, by the end of the match the person with the most points wins.Personnaly I don't like point sparring, but there's not much I can do about that at my school.
