  1. nobody needs it,but it does make you look like your the best out there. That's why people sometimes want schools that easily hand them out so they can have the credit of being one. Also sadly a lot of kids do like to retire after they reach black belt because that's all they really wanted.
  2. exactly. It also depends from style to style.Because if Bruce Lee was to ever fight a person like Muhamed Ali in his rules, I don't think Lee would be doing so great.
  3. "Cardio karate " That's called Tae Bo.
  4. "well actually you learn to run as well in soccer, a highly underated skill in SD." If you run away youre going to look like a punk. Also chnaces are that your agressor will chase after you.I guess the only way for me to run is if the person has a weapon or if it's multiple agressors.Just my opinion.
  5. well i would go with sambo just because it's not as common as bjj,but that's me.The hard part would be finding a school in america.I guess they have them in areas with a high amount of people from russia.
  6. I would go for judo because it has standup game and ground game.
  7. While those styles are great, karate can help out for real fights too.also I'm guessing by his kf name that he would be more into karate than krav maga.
  8. Well I guess if he was put up against a better fighter it was for a reason. The way I see it if you spar with a better fighter,it makes you better. If you spar with someone around the same level, the progress of learning won't be as fast.
  9. cool, the only negative thing from it I guess is that you have to go and get a uniform and gear for only 3 months.
  10. Well what are you looking at in your area?also what do you want in it?
  11. I wouldn't go as far as saying he was the best, but I would say he was probably the most popular of his time.
  12. well i guess it's fine if you don't capitalize martial arts, but as for the styles name I'm guessing that you have to capitalize it because it gets more specific.
  13. While all of this great advice I do have one question for everybody. In my dojo we don't do low kicks, but I still want to know how to defend against them. How would I go about doing this?
  14. I wouldn't go as far as saying it looks like ballet.
  15. well besides what other people have said there the school factor. You see sadly there exist what we on the net refer to as a McDojo or in your case a McDojang.I'm not saying that you or your son fall into this category, but since TKD is so popular there more of those types of schools. In that case if you guys were at that type of school, then you could get it as soon as 6 months.
  16. well right now I just strated cross training in weapons, but I want to do another striking art. It's not that I'm unsatisfied. The thing is that Karate is mostly a light contact art,and I want to do a full contact art.So I was actually going to take Kung-fu as soon as I started working. Now that I have I can't even go to Karate as much as before when I was jobless so I'm guessing that Kung-Fu is out the picture for now.
  17. Well if you want to know if youre the best go from school to school and challenge the headmaster and do this for the rest of your life all over the world
  18. I don't really think it's that street effective, but once I was messing around with some guy that did it a while back.It was kinda challenging because you don't know which way theyre going to come at you since the way they move is so different to traditional martial arts.
  19. well, did this boy speak fluent English? That might of been the case.
  20. yep
  21. "Odd how you use the term "player" " well maybe that's what it translates to from his native tounge?
  22. So should this kid just go smack her upside the head or something?
  23. "For me, even if the plot doesn't make sense, I would still enjoy the movie for the fights (if it's a martial arts film)." Of course , that's the major reason anyone watches those films
  24. It sounds like youre hearing an episode of Saved by the bell or full house.
  25. So the only art your focused on is TKD?
