  1. Well there's some styles that don't do blocks.I'm guessing they have good reasons, but mines does so I'm still going to work at them.
  2. Wow at brown belt?I'm learning it at orange belt.
  3. Well a lot of kids , people that don't know too much, and parents love the belts.
  4. I guess that capoeira has fallen into the same spot that tkd has. It's seen as a flashy style, but the truth is that when practiced correctly you can actually save yourself from an ugly situation.
  5. these two guys are right on the point, especially traditionalfist. When I first began martial arts I fell for a school that was like all of the three points mentioned.Anyways please tell us what you have around and what you want in it.
  6. I guess we can still live our fanatsy through movies
  7. What other martial artist can you name that's on the front of t-shirts that sell commercially at big name stores(not stores or sites dedicated to ma).Well I haven't seen any but Bruce. So that shows that he is still inspiring people today.
  8. I haven't seen any of his movies, but I guess that they aren't so good.
  9. I've seen it it's a pretty good site. You should check out the zero gravity stunts videos in https://www.wushucentral.com
  10. sometimes i just don't do it because I'm just typing and don't really worry about it.
  11. This is why I'm not too fond of the belt system myself, but hey it's part of the style that I enjoy. I like the way some of the Kung Fu styles are.Because a lot of them don't have belts or sashes, so you just practice to learn and grow instead of doing it for what you wear around your waist.
  12. When you spar in capoeira you don't actually make contact to my knowledge which I think it's one of it's downsides.
  13. well I've posted this elsewere, but when I was in high school two guys got into a fight after getting of the bus.The first was just ready to attack, but didn't do anything. The reason is that the other guy just finished him off with roundkicks. The other guy wanted a fist fight , but since he saw that he was going to loose he just left screaming profanities at the other guy.
  14. well I'm guessing that probably kung fu has a lot of these kicks, butit also depend on what tsyle of kung fu.Because some won't even do kicks for the most part.
  15. I don't know about doing knuckle push ups.I've heard they can be hard on your wrist at the ame time.
  16. good story , but by school we were reffering to martial arts school.Annyways I guess it still counts because both are places of learning and working together.
  17. wow an American that also speaks Korean. Now I don't see why he left.In my school theres this guy that only speaks spanish. Before I enrolled there nobody translated for him,and he still stayed there regardless. He could of taken up Aikido since the intructor spoke spanish, but he remained loyal to his teacher. Now that I'm there he has no problem though. It's not that nobody else there spoke spanish it's just that most of the people tha did spoke it very poorly.
  18. Maybe he should just consider riding a bike to school
  19. Karate was develop'd in Okinawa, independently of jujitsu. yep.The only style that I see similar to that coment is Wado ryu.Because the styles founder put in a lot of ju jutsu in since he was a master in it as well as shotokan.
  20. Isn't that the style of kung fu that looks like judo?
  21. "What about you Goju? How are you combining your arts? Could you describe them for me " Well as for me I can't really mix both of my styles together because one is karate style and the other is a weapons based style.Although I have done kickboxing before. As for that the kicks are very similar so I don't really mix that up, but the punches are boxing punches.I tried to mix them in to my karate sparring once, and my instructor said stop doing kickboxing and use karate.Anyways if I were to be fighting someone, I would be using mostly karate , but what I would use from kick boxing is it's hook punch that I think we don't have in karate. As for weapons,if I was fighting in the street I would use them, but I think it would be pretty hard to find something close to a bo staff in the streets.
  22. hmm sounds good, but how do you block low kicks with your leg?At my dojo we learned how to block kicks with our legs , but I don't know if it would work for a low kick.It was done by bringing your leg from the outside in while you have your knee raised and from inside to outside too.
  23. lol why would he say he has a reason to beat him after seeing one of his movies? Also what movie was it?
