  1. You guys are really weird. Oh well, I just started so ya never know what might happen in the end.
  2. hiya what art do you do and which weapon(s) do you use most in the art? oh and can someone give me a site or anything that might have a descriptive info on different kinds of weapons? Also is there an art that does both grappling and weapons? Thank you all Cya Hiya [ This Message was edited by: Hiya on 2002-04-19 00:07 ]
  3. Hiya, To those of you that do more then one MA, doesn't it ever get confusing? Like you accidently do a ju-jitsu move during TKD or something? Thanks in advance Cya Hiya
  4. ooh good luck then. So if ya really wanted to enter all you had to do was sign up or something and get the airplane tickets and stuff to get to the place?(and no I dun wanna go, im just wondering) Cya Hiya
  5. Hiya, thanks for your reply It's good to know that it's not one of those, "girl can't compete with boys" thing, because they kind of annoy me. And I think you should definitely go to the tournment, there's nothing to lose from going to the tournment(I think). If I was better in TKD, heck I would go.
  6. Hiya, I'm nowhere near going to a tournment, I'm still a white belt, but I'm just wondering where are they usually held? Because I wouldn't think there would be one building specifically made for tournements since that might be a lot of money. Also in tournements is it like only girl and girl spar, and boy and boy spar, and the opposite gender can't sparr each other? thanks for reading Cya [ This Message was edited by: KickChick on 2002-05-14 17:38 ]
  7. If you really wanted to compete in the junior olympics, do you have to be like the best around your area or something to do that?
  8. Hiya, I really want to know if martial arts helps getting into a college. like if you went to tournements and you won a lot of them would it help?. if you guys and girls wanna know why I'm asking this, it's because my mom wants me to start golf so by highschool I can get into a golf team.. cuz then it'd help me get into college or something. But I HATE golf HATE HATE HATE HATE. so if martial arts doesn't help me getting into a good college then I need to do golf.. :kaioken: :kaioken: Oh ya, and I know that you need to get a really good score on your SAT and stuff to actually get into a good college, but my parents told me being in like a golf team, basketball team, whatever, helps a bit too.
  9. Agh, well I have too much fat in my stomach so I have a two pack. Oh well, Hope this helps ya. Cya Hiya
  10. Ooh hiya, great goals everyone! And yep, Bon, I know doing the side splits isn't the same as kicking head high. I can kick a tiny bit over my head now, but I'm still inches off the ground. I wanna go to the olympics, too.
  11. Hiya, To those people that take Ju-jitsu, do you guys use weapons in the art? If so what are they? Cya Hiya
  12. Hiya Just a random question here: what is everyone's long term goal and short term goals? Here's mine. Long term goal-To lose at least 30 pounds by September, and to maybe start something like ju-jitsu or hapkido for crosstraining once I get better in TKD. Short term goal- Try to eat more healthy and to be able to do the splits... I'm getting closer
  13. Geez, and I thought I was fat... ~shudders~ I wonder why anyone would want to become a sumo wrestler.
  14. No it doesn't get in the way at all. Actually martial arts has helped me with much better endurance in tennis. Last summer after an hour of playing I was soo tired, but now I can play tennis for 2 hours and it's not tiring at all. Also since it improves flexbility and strength too, it would help your sport if you played a sport that needed flexbility and or strength. Cya Hiya
  15. I think the guy is just jelous that you do MA and he doesn't, and he wants to try and prove himself. Maybe you can offer him to do MA with you if he's still kind of your friend. Well gee, it sounds like there's a lot of fights where some of you live.. To the people that get into fights, what grade are you in? Because I have never seen a real fight anywhere around the school, but maybe it's because I'm still in the 7th grade?
  16. Yep.. That's what new agers call it. But I'm sure you know your gut feeling? LIke you just "feel" something's wrong and something bad happens? I'm sure everyone has it. Maybe it's just a coincedence, but before something really bad happens, like my dog dying , I get that feeling. But I guess you don't wanna believe.. That's fine with me, a lot of people can't accept things that can't be explained my science. Cya Hiya
  17. I'm pretty knew at this TKD thing, so sorry if this sounds like a really dumb question. It sounds like in WTF a lotta people don't keep their hand up and they don't block either. So what to they do? Do they simply just get kicked if someone kicks them and go on to their next move ? Thanks Cya Hiya
  18. I just started a while ago because it was only 5 minutes away from my house, plus the people there seemed pretty nice, and I wanted to take a MA ever since I was little. Oh and I wanted to get into a little better shape then I am now. Cya Hiya
  19. You know the thing those new age people call, "sixth sense" or basically your gut feeling? Like having someone behind you and without looking you know "someone" or "something" is there? What you do is just bring your awareness all around the room. I don't think that made sense, but it's kinda hard to explain.. Hope it does make sense. Cya Hiya
  20. Hehe, I just got over picking a MA.. Too many different arts, it was so hard. It really depends what you want. Go to search engines and look through just about all the different MA available around your area. Then actually go to the dojo/dojang and check out the instructors and how they teach. Even if the art seems like something that would fit you, if the instructors are bad it'd be pointless. Hmm, here's a little something.. If you're interested in... -Grappling: Might wanna take Judo or Ju-juitsu -Kicking:Taekwondo(Cuz it focuses on kicking a lot, but still many other arts teach kicking) -Not learning too many different techniques but only a few of the more useful techniques:Kickingboxing or JKD -Self Defense: This would be almost just about any art, but I heard Muy Thai was really good for this(Dunno if it's true, I don't know anything about muy thai) -If you wanna take an art that has both things like grappling, kicking, punching, and just a lot of variety of things, I would suggest hapkido or ninjitsu. Well that's just what I know, but I'm new to the stuff too, so I really suggest looking through other websites. Hope this helps a bit. Cya Hiya
  21. Hey, I'm 12 turning thirteen next week. Yeah, I hope it's only growing pain and nothing really bad. I'll go see a doctor if it hurts for another week. Thanks a bunch Jack. Hiya Cya Ps. This is a dumb question, but what's a physiotherapist?
  22. Hiya everyone, Last Friday at school, in gym class I was sitting down on the floor listening to the teacher talk about track and how to throw a shotput and all that boring stuff. Well from the floor I got up, and my knees kinda cracked, but then again it does that a lot. Anyway, as I started walking to the door to go outside, I noticed my knees hurt, and I thought maybe I had just gotten up weird. But now it's Monday and it still hurts. It doesn't hurt all the time, but just once in a while and when there's a lot of pressure on the knees. Anywho, I just thought it'd heal, but I went to TKD class today and when I came back my knees hurt so much I could barely walk. And then now it's healed again... Geez, what's up with this? Does anyone know what I should do? LIke should I leave it in hot water, or put ice on it, etc? Thanks a bunch. Oh also also when it doesn't hurt it just feels weird, kinda like it's more stronger or somethin. Thank you for reading Cya Hiya
  23. These are the "traits" that some people told me about a McDojo. I dunno if it's true or not. -There are people with blackbelts that have been going only like one year. -People getting hurt a lot -Bad instructions -Way too many students without that much instructors. Hmm well that's all I know. Like I said I dunno if their true. Cya Hiya
  24. Oops, so sorry.. Posted twice. [ This Message was edited by: Hiya on 2002-04-07 22:44 ]
  25. G don't be a racist. I think the fights to the death were stupid and pointless. Even if they did it willingly. Who would give up their life just to try and look more superior then another person. And the poor animals. Cya Hiya
