  1. Eye of the Tiger, you can't say women are not stronger then men. I know a lot of girls that are stronger then boys, and a lot of boys that are stronger then girls(though I agree the average boy is stronger then the average girl) As for your little kickboxing full contact thing, well, not every men would be able to do that either. And women would have a less likelier chance of doing that because to them getting black eyes make em look bad, plus they'll think it's a waste of time when they can go join a safer place where they won't get ugly black eyes... Umm.. Men just act tougher but their all a wuss. J/k. I just think it's stupid how ppl generalize too much by saying men are stronger the women, because like I said, the average men may be stronger then the average women, but not always so... plus when it comes to martial arts strength doesn't matter as much if you are experienced. Just my 10 cents...
  2. Now that I think of it, did ninjas even wear those black suits with those black masks and ugly tabis?
  3. Hello everyone, I would like to thank you all for your replies. And I am pretty sure the school is authentic, I believe it is an organization under Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi. So it seems, I am still where I started. I do want to learn the best self defense I can, and it seems like wing chun is suited for that. But at the same time, I would like to learn how to use as many different weapons as possible, and that would be ninjutsu. If anyone has any suggestion, please reply. But I am going to presume that no one will reply to this post, I guess maybe I will go flip a coin.
  4. Finally my parents said that if I really wanted to, I can start another martial art. I am planning on taking wing chun or bujinkan ninjutsu. The advantages of taking ninjutsu is that they teach you a million different kinds of weapons like: sword, knife, rope, sticks, staff, chain weapons, polearms, spear, throwing weapons(like ninja stars i guess?) , weapons that were used by farmers in japan, plus firearms and regular everyday stuff you can use as weapons, and of course they teach taijutsu too. The wing chun school only teaches the pole weapon, but then I do like wing chun's theories and stuff plus ppl tell me it's one of the very effective arts out there. Saying that I'm looking for an art that will be the most effective for self defense, which would do you suggest I pick? Ooh, and you're going to hate me for saying this, but plz don't say, "both are good, you pick" lol I tried that for a month, it just won't work(u know, my brain argues back and forth whether or not I should take this or that.). 5. lol yeah, this is an interesting thread. and -:, how do you know if you have to be "this and that" to be a ninja? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm simply stating that there's no way for anyone to know for sure.. Right? I always thought the ninja's code was something like, "do anything you can do win in combat, but be gentle as a butterfly outside of it..." Umm, something like that. And well, I don't think ninjas would kill their mom or someone they loved for their stupid head of clan guy, I mean, they escaped so they would stop being bossed around by samurais...
  6. ive only seen wing chun ppl sparr blindfolded and i think it's part of the wing chun system(blindfolded chi sao or somethin)
  7. i wouldn't want to go to your class Smiley.. ouch. and i think if people really wanted to be complete with self defense, they should know a little grappling... and people that only do grappling arts really should learn stand up fighting too.
  8. muay thai should get you in shape but until then try jump roping, i've noticed it helps a lot. hope you have fun in muay thai.
  9. lol.. i know how that is. try to focus on something, anything it doesn't matter what, it can be really sutpid too, as long as it gets you to exersice.
  10. Lol.. Smiley I think you went into too much detail there. and dave, thnx for watching it first haha now i won't have to.
  11. unless you're only focusing on tournaments, i think tournaments are good cuz then you get to fight with people you don't know so it gets you more prepared for self defense.
  12. I don't think it matters as long as he doesn't do it during class and he doesn't smell like smoke.
  13. I think your learn BJJ in the army... Someone told me that once.
  14. I wash mine when I feel like it... I didn't realize most people don't wash it and treat it like that lol.. I just drag it around the house.
  15. ive heard ankle and wrist weights do more harm then good. I heard from some ppl that weighted vests were very good, and from others i heard they can ruin your shoulders. i'd say unless someone in here that's experienced reccomends them, best be safe then sorry.
  16. thanks for your reply bitseach. I went again yesterday and I felt much better. next time i'm not gonna eat 40 minutes before going to tkd lol.
  17. thanks for your advice everyone, and i don't digest very quickly either. and withers maa, i am planning to call my doctor if it happens again. but im really glad it's probably not asthma.. phew.
  18. oh I see thanks everyone. I ate dinner 40 minutes before class, maybe thats it.
  19. well yesterday i was at taekwondo, and i haven't been there for like a month. anyway, we were doing a lot of cardio stuff, and all the sudden i became a bit dizzy, and my legs felt so weird that when i tried jumping with them, it felt like i was standing on rubber band or something, basically felt like i was gonna fall and pass out. i tried to breathe and i found it really hard, like somewhere around my lungs it hurt a lot to breathe in deeply. does anyone know if this mean i have asthma or anything else? and is this normal? i'm kinda worried i might have asthma, plus my endurance went really down after a month. please reply back, thanks.
  20. yes.. and so far in my life i've been into 7 different schools, and out of the 7 schools i've been to 5 of the schools served stuff like french fries, pizza(twice a week if i may add), pizza sticks, burgers, ice cream, cookies, basically all the fatty food in the world, plus one of the school gave us McD's or PapaJohns once a week.. or else no one would buy the stuff. the only two schools where they had healthy food was in Korea... so another problem is school, nowadays most kids grow up eating fatty foods for lunch at school anyway, and later it becomes normal for em. i wish i still had "young" tastebuds.. when i was young i hated pizza, spaghetti, and all fatty foods, and only liked veggies and fish and fruits.. even tho i was still fat back then lol... im still fat now, so maybe it dunt make a diff. 21. I think belts are alright for little kids like someone else said(and for adults there should just be levels like begining advanced, etc), but i think it should be explained that just because you have a higher rank doesn't mean your better and all that and stuff... cuz there's this one kid that's younger then me, and just because he's one rank higher he bosses me around. i find it pretty funny watching the little guy do that, but it gets annoying sometimes when you're trying to do you're on stuff. and kickchick, so basically yin and yang is a way to explain balance or something? im not very good with chinese philosophy and stuff like that. 22. -:, I'm not sure exactly what the wing chun lineage I'm planning to take is. I hope it's Willian Cheungs linage, since their fighters win most of the time from what I hear, but I don't think it is. But any wing chun style is good for me.. kinda. And John, thanks for the info. in other arts, people guard their face, but in wing chun they guard their centerline right? unless their centerline is the face, but isn't it usually around the stomach area for most people? EDIT: I think wing chun would have a little advantage over boxing, since wing chun has kicks too, but i guess it all depends on the practioner so it doesn't really matter. 23. at my tkd place we call the instructors "sir" and no one else that. i think belts and uniforms are annoying... i suck at tying belts too.
