i guess his ego was too big and he didn't want to look bad in front of his students... Still, that was pretty mean of him!

geez, a lot of ppl in england have short summer breaks! everyone i know that lives in the u.s. has summer breaks that last 3 months. but it does get boring after a month or two.
-
Hmm, you lost 40 pounds in 3 months? that's awesome. but anyway, i know you should eat lots of protien and carbs after your workout... also I remember hearing that bodybuilders wake up in the middle of the night and have a protien shake, then goes back to sleep(because muscles are developed fast during the night or something..). though i don't know if that's true. maybe you want to think about reading "combat conditioning" by matt furey. i'm thinking about getting it.

my summer break started in june and it lasts about 3 months.

KickChick, So if jogging/running in the morning is one of the best ways to lose weight, will walking in a fast pace be as good? I'm not a morning person, so I think it will be too hard to run in the morning.

In Chinese Astrology I'm a snake. On the other one I'm an aries. And Xpoison Frex, I think your chinese one would be Dragon. I dunno about Patrick though.

Grappling
rabid hamster replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Yeah, aikido is a soft art, but not all soft arts are meant to do as little damage to your opponent. And like Tobias said, if you don't know how to fall from a throw, it can do a lot of damage to you. -

Soft arts are not arts where you try not to hurt your opponent. It's just that soft arts focus a lot on chi, and focuses a lot on the spiritual aspect from what i know. I think in aikido you try to do as little damage as possible though. -
HAIR IS MY ENEMY!!
rabid hamster replied to DeeLovesKarate's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I have that same problem. My hair is layered or whatever you call em so when I put it in a ponytail the front parts kinda come down. I tie it twice in a certain way, I have no idea how to explain it, maybe you should try tying in different ways. But I would suggest using lots of gel/hair spray and pins or clips. -
ooh cool history, in a way it seems similar to wing chun's history though not quite. thanks for posting that kickchick.

Oh also, people tell me that wing chun is a hard style, and some people say it's a soft style. Anyone know which one it is?

"I have no doubt in my abilities" It's good you don't have doubts, but don't be too overconfident. And no.. karate is not the best... I don't think any art is. -
Muay Thai vs Kickboxing.. Well I'd saly Muay thai would be better for self defense, but it doesn't mean muay thai will win, even if they are equal in strength, speed, reflexes etc... Luck is very important too... And there's no way two people will be exactly equal in their abilities. Though the muay thai practioner might know more techniques then the kickboxer, it doesn't mean muay thai guys will beat kickboxers... To say so would be stupid.

lol yeah.. i just realized in class that im afraid of hitting ppl ... i thought i was pretty aggressive for a girl i guess not lol. i guess that might be one reason why some girls aren't as good at first. but still i think it's false that a women can't beat a 300 pound guy. where i live 300 pound guys are really fat guys, couldn't the girl just outrun him? and no matter how muscular they are they do have their weak points. but 300 pound vs 100-150.. I'd say the 300 guy wil have the advantage(tho i've never seen a 300 muscular guy.. I've never actually seen a muscular guy other then on TV LOL).

Taikudo-ka, ninjutsu is unarmed fighting and armed fighting. The good thing about it is the unarmed fighting part of the ninjutsu covers all different aspects of fighting. And Kensai, do you know if ninjutsu is a soft style or a hard style? And Dee, I realize it's my choice alone, but im trying to see what other people's opinions are on these two arts, since i don't know too much about em. I think i'll probably take wing chun, but Im still going to take my time to think, i don't wanna rush into it or anything. thnx for your replies so far everyone.

Sticky Hands?
rabid hamster replied to rabid hamster's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
oh.. Hmm.. but um, if you train in chi sao/sticking hands, would your reflexes be faster then another martial artist since you can know what someone might do before they do it? -
Stuff like that really makes me mad. And are you serious Bruce Lee thought girls shouldn't be in martial arts? Well if this is true, I have lost respect for that guy.
