Hi, unless you tried already try to see how much situps/pushups you can do in one minute without stopping. then try to see how many situps/pushups in a row without a set time. this is great for your motivation. anyway i was wondering how much of each everyone here can do. Me: situps in one minute: 59 situps: 110 Pushups in one minute:39 (yes its very sad...) push ups: 45 (sad....) whats urs?

hi congradulations im sure there are other ways but the only way i can think of is continuely practice jabbing with your left hand and everyday increase it by 5-10. -
hi kensai can you explain that is if there is anything to explain? i always thought good and evil was just a concept humans have. in the big picture there isn't such a thing. thanks..
-
it means nothing. there is no such thing as good or evil if you think about it.

welcome to karateforums.

Yes kyokushin has katas but I heard they were different from traditional ones. Like no low stances. And they are called fighting kata.. or something and will help you in fighting a lot compared to traditional katas(from what ive read).

Yes there is a spiritual side to hapkido. I don't take kyokushin personally, but it's known as one of the toughest karate styles.
-
Oh so from the examples you gave me it sounds like combat arts are the kind that focuses a lot on sparring and not really on spiritual stuff. Then yeah I agree with Thai_Kick I wouldn't consider hapkido a combative art.
-
Um exactly what is the definition of a combative art..?

should young kids do a martial art?
rabid hamster replied to kickbuttnat's topic in Instructors and School Owners
most little kids are annoying... I don't feel comfortable in the same class as them. I doubt they do either. Think about training with someone that is 5 ft taller then you. -
i hear karate focuses more on kata and not much fighting or conditioning. i suppose it really depends on the dojo though. if your goal is to be able to fight and beat other styles, may i suggest muay thai or BJJ?

Well if he is studying COLLEGE math at 10 why not a 5th degree? It's almost freaky. College math? Jeez this kid is smarter then me. And his body doesn't seem "right" for a 10 year old. But yeah he is gifted.

Try doing those hacky sack things. You can buy them but what I do is cut a sock, put uncooked rice in it. Then tie it up and tape it with duct tape. Then toss it straight into the air, and as it comes down don't let it touch the floor. Instead hit it with the inside part of your foot. Keep doing that. It's harder then it sounds at first but you should get better.
