  1. I agree on most of what you said , however , muay thai is not football , football is a team game , MT is a fighting style . Sparring is needed from time to time , to condition your body to take hard hits , to learn what to do in a fight and to control ur temper , etc ..........
  2. Hello Smitty I was hoping the you explain the meaning of kotate . How exactly could the incorrect performance of the Sanchin kata cause health problems ??? p.s. : I perform the Sanchin kata kyokushin version every morning , I hope that I am performing it correctly , lol ..
  3. So you are saying that grappling in karate is present but passive , I agree regarding that lots of katas in most karate styles contains locks and takedowns , however , karate in general is a standup striking system that contains some grappling . Now speaking of my style’s (kyokushin karate ) weakness : 1-limited grappling and ground work 2-High number of injuries among fighters since they have to fight full contact all the time
  4. If I have the choice I wouldn't fight more than 3 people , but if I have no choice at all , I advise against running , sometimes in life you just have to stand and fight , we learn martial arts to defend ourselves not to run on each and every confrontation
  5. Exactly, short but meaningful
  6. I would give credits to traditional TKD since it's more realistic and street oriented ,WTF TKD is all about kicking and no hands techniques at all , contains a lot of ineffective flashy kicks and sports oriented ,however sparring under WTF rules is more exciting .
  7. Okay .. so the striking in kempo is karate based and grappling is kung fu based ??
  8. What kyokushin really lacks is grappling , don't you think ?
  9. I googled Kazumi's dojo , unfortunatly it's in japanese .
  10. Where did you read the holding while kneeing thing ?? if so , then the fight could go very nasty ( love it though )
  11. Hello makiwaraman What happned with your kyokushinkai training ?? From the way i c it , there is no kyokushin karateka in hios area , it's just shotokan members fighting under kyokushin rules , it won't be that hard
  12. As far as i know , Funakoshi did change the kanji from chinese hand (or tang hand ) to empty hand
  13. Lol.. Read the posts above
  14. I was wondering abput it as well , is kenpo a type of karate or kung fu ?? or a mix of both .. i know little about it, however , it seems that kenpo and kempo are the same
  15. shin protectors , groin protectors , bandages , gloves , mouthguard .. etc..
  16. Karate originally means Chinese hand , It was pronounced to de (spelling ??? ) in Okinawa , when Mas. Funakushi first introduced karate to Japan , he change the karate’s kanji from Chinese hand to empty hand .
  17. Hello.
  18. High kicks worth the risk if you know how to use them , if you are 75% sure that it's going to hurt ur opponent , then why not ??
  19. 1- Gichin Funakoshi : Father of modern karate and the founder of shotokan , one of the most popular martial arts 2- Oyama Sosai : Founder of Kyokushinkai , one of the best karate-kas that have ever lived . 3- Gigaro Kano 4- Morihei Ueshiba Sensei : Founder of Aikido , I highly respect him . I was influenced by karate kid movies to join the martial arts , so we got to give Hollywood some credits
  20. Congratulations , however , 4 weeks is really a short time to get your first belt , that makes me wonder !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I voted for hand techniques since every kick of mine is followed by 4 or 5 hand strikes ( punsh , elbow , shoto ... ) I use punshes and low kicks when i get tired to regain my energy , but then again i kick a lot , lots of my k.o.s are done with kicks ,from the way i c it , it dosn't matter weither it's hand strikes , kicks , counters ..... The important thing is to win the fight
  22. Where is Kazumi now ??? It makes me sad to know that one of the best kyokushin fighters ever has left kyokushinkai
  23. No one.. It dosn't make any difference
