Good one We all know that kickboxing is <> than thai boxing , however , most kickboxers i know are also thai boxers and vice versa , not to mention that thai boxing had a great influence on the development of kickboxing -
So does it require a sumo practitioner to be fat ?? I know for instance that eating is part of the training in sumo , is that true even for amateurs ?? I have also read that lots of sumo guys die before 50's due to heart problems

That’s not what I meant , what I meant is : does it worth killing your shin nerves in order not to feel the pain ?? There are better ways to do that , kicking sandbags for instance .. -

Good point , however , there are more kickboxers than thai boxers -
I belive that what MadMatt meant by "using the ground as your weapon" is to throw your opponent to the ground , not to take the fight to the ground , and he got a point there : Imagine yourself hitting the concrete after a good hip throw . Judo contains lots of ground fighting techniques ( Ne waza ) , however , those techniques are designed to finish the opponent and quickly get up on your feats not to take the fight to the ground and stay there . Plus , karate's grappling in general is designed to be used against a non grappler

Hello White Warlock just a question : Have you ever been in a kyokushin dojo ?? any way , as what you said before , kyokushin fights are close range fights ( grappling range as you mentioned it ) , 90 % of head kicks are executed from a medium to long range distance ,so obviously most of our kicks are done to the mid and lower body section . Plus , there is nothing wrong with a good roundhouse that can end the fight in a second ( oh , and it's usefull in a real fight , belive me , i've been there .. ) what you c as a disadvantage of beeing exposed to takedowns , i look at it as an advantage of beeing able to strike even in a grappling position
