I said this before in response to another topic. The Fighting Black Kings was one of the best martial arts documentaries that I have seen. It motivates me to do things the old way.
I have not yet promoted anyone in my school to black belt. I want to know how it felt for you when you promoted your first student to black belt and is that person still committed to training with you? What is your relationship like with your first black belt?
I have several of his instructional tapes and I have watched them over and over. These are among the few tapes/dvds that I have purchased over the years that I felt was well worth it. He teaches practical street oriented martial arts. (including biting while grappling)
Visualizing techniques in my head over and over has helped me a lot. I often do this when I am unable to physically practice such as when I'm at work, however I don't let my boss know that my mind is somewhere else.
