when....you watch ANYTHING on TV that may have a fight scene in! when.... you slap your mate in the nuts "because you were faster than him" and "because you can" (ok - so I was drunk at the time!) when....you bore the sh*t out of everyone you meet by telling them about your new Gi! I am so guilty of a few of the ones on here already: Practising wrist locks in lewctures at Univeristy! Putting mates in wrist locks when u should just be shaking hands/ high 5. Kicking doors open and shut making sure I can punch and kick in every outfit I own! Couple more too but they're on the other page and can;t remember them! lol

I have this film on DVD - someone bought me it for my birthday but I have just not had chance to sit down and watch it - but I really wanna watche it cos I am a big Jet Li fan!

BJJ useful?
username9 replied to Maddwraph's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Trying not to be a useless post saying "I agree" but... I TOTALLY agree!!!! - Now go add this to the stupid argument I got myself dragged into in this part - the BJJ vs JJJ thing! lol -
erm...... I was pretty sure that would be Oxygen!?! But i have heard good things about OxyClean!

I wash it once a week usually - basically after two sessions - unless one of them has been a real heavy session - then it gets banged straight in the washer - and when I am at home it tends to get washed more often - but it is harder for me to wash it at univeristy cos there's no washing machine in my flat! haha As for washing ur belt/obi then I have only ever done theat about twice when I got blood on it. Apart from that I just don't! One good reason not to wash a coloured belt with ur gi is that one guy that trains with us came in with an orange-tinted gi once cos his ran in the wash! lol

BJJ useful?
username9 replied to Maddwraph's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Fair point actually - I guess i should clarify what I meant - Just that a Ju Jitsu throw might be more effective - but then again - many of the throws are similar as Judo came from Ju Jitsu! Plus if youy dump someone on their back on concrete as many Judo players can do - then they may just have a bit of wind knocked out of them! -
judo in the street
username9 replied to superfighter's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I'm talking throws in English cos I don't know the japanese names - I know striking in Japanese - but not throwing! lol (Plus thes are Ju Jitsu throws - which I know are similar....but here they are...) Top throws: Hip Throw (Simple but effective Spring Hip (Harder to do but even more effective) Outer Reaping (Which is Osoto Gari - I think) Knee Wheel (Takes out their knee and slams the back of their head into ur knee!) and my fave to do - although it is very "hollywood" is: Shoulder Wheel! (Cos it is devastating!) -
BJJ useful?

I personally don't reckon Judo is THAT useful to learn as self defence mainly because it is a sport. BJJ is slightly sport oriented - so depending on the club - that idea is similar - TOO sporty. But if you get a good club then it'll be more rounded - Helio Gracie himself was attacked by someone with a gun and he managed to choke the guy out before he realised and didn't a shot off! Krav Maga is a good self-defence system. it is what the Isdraeli army get taught! Basically there is no full system out there in the Martial Arts - but there are some that are close - as in Ju Jitsu and BJJ. And some modern styles like Krav Maga won't steer you wrong either! Good Luck -
Haha - Oops! No - I presumed it was THIS Wrestlemania!! haha Don't be so militant!

Tekken 5 fighting styles
username9 replied to dingyuan's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
RELAX FOLKS!!!! They are just games - and Sagat fought slightly differently. Tekken is more accurate but basically pinmaster is right. Muay Thai is not kickboxing - not really. That is what Bruce uses. "American" Kickboxing or Kickboxing as non americans call it - is based on Sport Karate - that is what Bryan does. -
IS this true or r u winding people up - that would be cool to watch!

Jason bourne fighting style
username9 replied to Sphinx's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
SO TRUE!!! It is movie-do - as most movies are but the fella at the beginning of this is correct - it is Kali and something else - not sure about boxing. That arm break in the embassy isn't THAT difficult. I love the style and was quite suprised that there isn't any mention of Krav Maga in it! -
Tekken 5 fighting styles

I wouldn't worry too much about what the styles the tekken characetrs do - it is relatively realistic - but not totally - so just chill out and enjoy one of the best fighting games ever - the Tekken series rocks!! -
KaiShin - do you mean Shito-Ryu? Because I know that Shukokai Karate came from Shito Ryu! Tani-Ha Shito Ryu - Shukokai
