  1. Hey, can you explain exactly how the whole entertainment wrestling thing works? It looks damn cool on TV.
  2. I have sparred my friend's mother before...it was kind of awkward becasue we were in rotation and I have been studying longer than her, plus I am taller and heavier. But she took it. I was qite impressed. I have also helped teach people I knew. It's kind of strange, but just pretend that they are just a new student. Be friendly, but never let them slack becasue of the contact.
  3. I saw a guy who was meeting wth my instructor about starting TKD after mving away....I think the guy was a first kyu in some form of karate (he told me but I forgot, I will ask him), and when I saw him do hus form, I don't know, it must have been becasue it was new, or maybe becasue he was so talented, but he did such an amazing job, it like tok my breath away - and I am no patterns dunce, either, folks! I have seen this kid, his name is Brandon...he's eight or nine and he's a rank below me. The kid is probably the best sparrer I have ever seen for his age, and when taking size into consideration, for his rank. While we are not yet nearing the black belt, the sparring I participate in (even as a red belt) usually consists of chopy, abrupt movements. This kid flows! He can throw like 8 kick combos and tap on every one, and he even has an accurate 360. Wow. He makes me want to train harder .
  4. I train in both TKD and BJJ....I find it suits me well, but I have also heard great things about Hapkido as being a good all-around type of art. Also, a lot of contemporary schools teach a combination.
  5. I read a story about this one guy who robed a Seven Eleven twice in one day, and at the end of his secong cleaning of the register, he told the clerk he's be back at 7:PM....he came exactly on schedule to meet a crowd of police.
  6. Saint Patrick was actually never cannonized. Did you guys know that? They don't even have a clue when he was born, even though they do know it wasn't in Ireland.
  7. WAHHHH! Yoda types too fast! No fair! Cmon Gumby! Get cracking
  8. no! ****roaches! they've been around longer!
  9. M-E-T-S-MetsMetsMets.....We always pray for miracles!
  10. Wow! Red comes early, YODA! I am a red belt in TKD in my school and after this I only have high red, brown, and high red before i start my prliminary black belt grading (probably in a year and a half) Good luck to your students!
  11. What are you trying to say three60roundhouse? I've only been up here 4yrs. Before that I lived in Texas for over 20yrs. I'm not sure I like what it sounds like you're insinuating. I'm sorry if it came off as an insult, I assure you it wasn't. The state of New jersey, for example, has never executed a woman, though they have a few on death row, it'll probably never happen. I find New Jersey to be too leniant. At the other extreme, Texas kills more inmates than any other state, so I thought it was likely she got the dath penalty. She didn't. She'll be eligible for parole in 40 year - i think she'll be something like 75.
  12. Head kicks are also good if you both have good endurance but your opponent is wearing down...they tend to drop their guard a little so a roundhouse kick to the head...BAM!...will finish them!
  13. Try to act anything but what we are: example: rich white boys in the suburbs acting "ghetto". Let's drop them on a street corner in Harlem and see how long they last
  14. I read in a record book once that the shortest sentance in the English language is, "I am." Could it be that "I go." is the longest?
  15. Law and Order, Murder She Wrote, and 100 Center Street. My fave is CSI - I want to be a criminal profiler when I grow up so it's an appealing show for me.
  16. sounds like fun, anything to keep me glued to the monitor
  17. The whols thing is a legal debate now - did she know right from wrong? Well, I'm pretty well-read on the case, and from what I've read it seems that Mrs. Yates knew that what she was doing was legally wrong, but she didn't think it was morally wrong. She heard the Devil tell her that she was a horrible mother who would, no dount, end up corrupting her children. Since many Christians believe that the child's soul is pure and therefore a child can't go to Hell, she thought that if she killed them before they grew up and the Devil made her turn her kids against God. She claims she already knew her fate was to be sent to the devil, and she told police that she "deserves to burn in Hell". Well, I honest;y think she is a truly sick woman who should have been put in a mental institution so she can get help, but it is too late for that. If a woman this sick gets lethal injection, then I can't understand why the insanity laws even EXIST! But remember folks, she lives in Texas. Just my opinion.
  18. What do you guys think of the verdict in the Andrea Yates case?
  19. I liked the original Super Nintendo, there was this cool boxing game I had...
  20. YODA, in my school green comes after blue with tip...a lot of TKD schools in my area do things that way, I guess it's just a regional thing, though.
  21. Are we comparing arts again, prodigy-child? That's a big no-no!
  22. I liked the vocabulary. Great job, Jack...I'm not too good with those foreign names, though!
  23. Well, I AM one of the students, but I know I have given an instructor or two a new insight on something when I say "Why is it done like this?", or "can we try this?". I am a red belt in tae kwon do, yet a student who was a yellow belt in the same type of TKD transfered to our school, and already he has shown me some cool stuff he learned.

  25. For me, a belt is simply a key...the keys to the doors that you open when you have mastered the last level's techniques and get to learn some new ones!
