How do i tie my taekwondo belt
three60roundhouse replied to MrDash's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I am probably the best belt tier in the world - that's mainly the junior instructors job in the beginning, to tie little kids belts over and over, 10 kids at time, and they get mad if the sides are uneven...well anyway that site was a prety good explanation, but what i do is harder to explain. -
Why'd you chop the little kid out!? You're cute

I need a site with listings of the ITF tkd (or open tournaments - either one is fine) tournaments in the United States. I'm not so good on the computer and havwe only come up with a few sites (and none of them had a good list!)

You know you are in trouble when........
three60roundhouse replied to ramcalgary's topic in General Chat
Yoda...that is simply hilarious! I knew I was in trouble when I was joking around (play fighting) with my brother (also studies TKD) and he got me to the ground (he wrestles for fun on his school team)...then I started BJJ! The first time we "joked around" after that I pinned him...and he thought it was over! -
I am back after a great week

I am not surprised about the kata aspect...I'm glad that you got them to realize the importance of patterns in martial arts training. Sounds liek you had an awesome week! I wish I could get the hech outta my boring town fotr a while . -
I don't know very much about wing chun, but I do know that hapkido is a very, very well-rounded art (includes a bit of everything - throws, grappling, striking), though I think some people that do hapkido are so into knowing a bit of everything that they don't focus on one thing at a time and aren't proficient in each area. Mind you, I've seen some Hapkido black belts - some of the greatest fighters ever!

Come on...IT"S ONLY A MOVIE! I hate to say it, but a lot of minorities have their way on a lot of political issues....in movies most of the Irish are portrayed as poor, drunk, stupid, laboring fools...and we don't make a big stink about it! -

We (by "we" I mean American society, I don't know about everyone else), are way too eager to blame someone else as opposed to ourselves for our problem, thus inhibiting ourselves from becoming a better society in general. Here's an example: Now, I like McDonals once in a while as much as the next, but 60% of American adults and 13% of children are OBESE! Not baby fat here, but serious weight problems. Now, a large group of lawyers is going to SUE MCDONALDS for endangering the children and people by not warning them of the effects of consuming a large, disgusting blob of grease for dinner.... Hmm...maybe if we all just excercised and ate healthy foods, it wouldn't be such a problem. So, we need to stop blaming MTV, the media, the radio, Jerry Springer, etc., becasue these people are simply doing things "the American way" - cashing in on ignorance and society's desire to get "fast fixes" - as opposed to good diets, we go on pills that make our metabolisms spin into orbit, we buy stupid electronic ab-toners instead of doing some crunches and bicylcles... We need to blame ourselves. We are the only ones who can save society... -
I play guitar and trombone, and my little brother is TRYING to teach me the saxophone (it's hard!) What about you guys?

Hey! I just started BJJ about three weeks ago, and I find that there are so many LITTLE THINGS to focus on, and I just can't remember a lot of them! Usually I write down little tips to myself after class (i.e. don't use your thumbs grabbing them in a key lock, no hands in their sleeves, etc.), but I have a hard time keeping track of them all! Has anyone come across a good BJJ site with tips for absolute beginners? Thanks a lot.
