  1. Because any form of method, from WWE, that can be used in a fight, can be considered a martial art. I had read somewhere that one such wrestler, defended himself using those WWE methods.
  2. Shucks, I thought it was going to be a camp. No saws would be needed for camp fire wood.
  3. I am telling you, from past experience and participation, it will be difficult to organized and mix up. Leave a Wushu tourney-a Wushu tourney.
  4. Nice point Delta. I freak out on people who say "if you don't vote-don't complain". I talk to many foreigners and students not of ability to vote, they complain about Amercian politics and presidents, so perhaps they shouldn't? Complaining is the right and vocal opinion of anyone. "Jury duty is part of your voting rights, NOT part of your driving privilages! " Yeah, but the country is becoming so PC, that voters were getting upset that they were "singled-out" or called and not non-voters. Voting is just another way for government to tag and track you.
  5. Ted T,When a local experienced JJ instructor visited and challenged me I was called every profound name in the book we he had me locked up, except for the hand that grab his nads............ I had fore-warned him, which I did have to, for legal purposes, that I did not spar or fight TKD. His perception was based upon his sole observation of my TKD 4nd Dan certificate. What he did not observe was my other honorable certifications in other arts. He did not fully undersatnd the sign on the school that read "Martial Arts". And the condition of a legal form that he had filled that we make all "walk-in" challengers fill and sign. He had let go pretty quick but I could of pulled and twisted or "spear thrust" the area so exposed. Being trained aggressive methods, I usually don't spar my students and challengers, I appoint someone else.
  6. Is to help in strengthen the arms to keep them held up or serves as another purpose?
  7. I have seen people fail and quit because the rank is the most important issue. Heck, that is why there are so many colors and variations. McDojos would form a Black Belt Club to maintain the motivation so a customer, er student, will not quit. Some fees are attached for a student to become a member. Thus, they will not want to fail a student. But, to which, a student should be prpared to pass. If they do not, only reflects the instructor.
  8. The interesting thing is why does anyone do if for over 30 years! I guess the appreciation for it is that one has to truely enjoy it. Like food, wine, cars, etc. But, as with anything, a lifestyle can change, thus changing interests, of those become lost.
  9. My would be by Chinese Shifu, whom I meet every quarter. He is 75, seemingly out of shape, but not out of skill.
  10. Yes, remember how Bush "creeped in" the last time?
  11. Does that imply to those that are not of age, but have their own mind and opinions? They can complain, it is their right. And those that are of age, and don't vote. They can complain as well. They do not have to vote in order to voice their complaints. Perhaps one of the reasons they don't vote is that it is pointless to the fact that such both candidates, really did have great things to achieve. Thus they can complain about this as well. And what of becoming a voter, thus you are tagged to serve jury duty that doesn't compensate your income? Would that be another complaint not to vote?
  12. I was at a tournament when a fight broke out. No, that's not a joke. I ws judgeing a match between two rival schools. The guy in 'red' punched 'blue' in the face twice during the match. Remember, in WTF we fight bare knuckled and punches to the head are illegal. Well, red got disqualified. After the match the girl friend of 'red' started shouting at 'blue'. He shouted back across the crowd and eventually threw something at her. Next thing I know the stands cleared, the security guards we in there, and it was a mess. It was like a hockey game, or little league baseball! And thus one of the "cons" of tournament competition. You would think that the discipline and etiquette that are supposed to be instilled, would have prevented this. Tournaments can be a boorish spectacle.
  13. Hapkido was founded by Yong Shui Choi aroun 1919 whom had studied the famous Daito-ryu Aiki-jutsu, which is the very same art that Morihei Ueshiba (founder of Aikido) and Jigoro Kano (founder of Judo) had studied. Interesting that all had the one link to the same art that incorporates the same methods and techniques, or the basis of.
  14. Why? You plan on carrying loads for a durated time?
  15. Don't forget the smores!
  16. Back to the poster-what on earth does he mean? Does he beleive in KI or not?
  17. It will be difficult to judge and combine. It is hard for other martial artists to compete in mixed tournaments already.
