  1. Haven't heard about that movie before. You can go to http://www.kungfucinema.com And ask. There's a lot of old chinese kung fu movies collectors. They may help you. As for buy movies. then you can go to http://www.hkflix.com
  2. Oh, Never say Never. I've met and train with real tough Shotokan Karate black belts that were involved in pretty ugly scenarios in the street and they use there skills for Real.
  3. My former Instructor a TKD black Belt DID used high kicks in REAL life confrontations without any problems. I think we should be able to put our feet wherever we want; low, middle, high, etc... we have to be able to kick Anywhere if we Want to.
  4. Do Both then. After a while you'll realize by yourself if you feel confortable doing that. If you Do, then its okay, if you don't, then stick with the style you like the most.
  5. Both have there place in the Martial Arts world. If you do traditional martial arts and you include full contact in your training, you'll learn many things that a pasive martial arts lesson won't teach you.
  6. Thanks!
  7. Hello, I've heard that belt testing is optional in Krav Maga, True or False??
  8. Where can i find vids or pics of the Tekki/naihanchi bunkai???
  9. Im planning to wear a white Belt again since I want to keep training in other Martial arts and im willing to start all over again.
  10. Personally, i feel that, in order to be skilled in those shows, you have to put a lot of hard work and long hours of training, so why waste that time in a show when i can use that time to polish my REAL martial arts skills. Just my opinion.
  11. submission wrestling/jiu jitsu/ninjitsu and im sure a little Muay thai. besides those you mention. I read that he also trains in Aikido.
  12. Yes, Karate Kid II takes place in Okinawa.
  13. I dropped my Rank when i switch to Goju ryu Karate, but after 2 weeks, my sensei asked me to wear the rank i had before. I depends on the school.
  14. Back in the 60's, KARATE was a generic name for all martial arts. There wasn't school of shotokan, TKD, Goju ryu, etc... They were ALL called KARATE no matter the particular style. Even Hapkido grandmaster Bon Soo Han had to open his first school in U.S.A. under the name Karate. lol Later, TKD and TSD were called "Korean Karate". Now about Norris.. He DID trained Karate with, i think, Fumio Demura and others.
  15. I had a chinese Friend who knew some Bak Mei Kung fu. He refused to teach me because his master make him promise to never teach anyone that style. Its a rare style. There aren't many experts around the world in that discipline.
  16. From what i read, RVD knows some kickboxing. but he's mostly Acrobatics than anything. A former WWE star, Steve Blackman was a legit 3rd degree Black belt in Karate, knew Submission Wrestling and Kobudo. He was even feature in the cover of "Inside Kung Fu" magazine. Sean Waltman aka X-Pac is also martial artist, Judo and TKD black belt. Tazz is a 3rd degree Judo Black Belt and he used Judo holds in many of his matches. Eric Bischoff knows Karate, he's student of former WCW superstar Ernest "the Cat" Miller who was a Karate instructor before going into Pro-wrestling.
  17. Trial and Error, Yes its posible. But also, you may add that your friend may be a natural fighter. The Trial and Error system takes a lot of time to figure out the right way. It can take you, by trial error, Months to get a technique correctly. Months and lots of broken noses and other injuries.
  18. I've heard that Pro-Boxers runs All the miles they need at the same time. And the rest of the time they used it to do other exercises. When i ran, I do all i have to do at the same time also.
  19. Any Martial Art can be combative. Its just that many of them have go in other directions like Sports, recreation, fitness, etc... As G95 says, it depends on the Focus you give it. I know a couple of Shotokan karate guys that can handle themselfs really good in a real situation.
  20. 540/720 Kicks takes time and a healty body to get them.. I'd rather use that very same amount of time to develop a better basic front kick, side kicks or roundhouse.. lol
  21. that's too bad. He was a great fighter and coach. Its a big lost for the Martial Arts community in General. R.I.P Alex Gong
  22. Sparring in the Dojo isn't about winning or losing, is about learning. Maybe you should raise up your sparring level a little bit so your instructor raise his. Do it gradually, don't try to defeat your Instructor. By raising up your level gradually, you'll notice how much your Instructor is holding back when he's sparring with you and neither will get hurt.
