  1. I Remember back then when i used to do TKD, that one of the students, who was very strong, had great stamina and techique. He felt he had the a skills in Sparring higher than anybody else in the class so one day, He tried to K.O. our intructor in a sparring sesion, right in front of all the class. They started to spar and student was REALLY trying to Beat the Instructor Up. Instructor noticed it and raised up a little his level. At the End, Student ended K.O. in the floor.

  5. I usually say that when you just start in MA, to take just ONE style. When you have a reached a good level in that particular style, then you can start to explore in other styles and systems. Some styles blends better than others. Its a matter a personal investigation to see which ones works better for you.

  14. Kata can be helpfull only if your teacher knows how to train the proper bunkai, and i mean a deep study of bunkai. There are several stages of bunkai. If your instructor knows all this information, then he can make Katas a tool to help you to train how to fight.
  15. Hello, I wanted to post this article about Ninjutsu since i've see many people asking about this martial art. http://www.kiyojuteryu.org/soke/articles/ninjutsu.shtml
  16. Its all about the find the right teacher. Judo can be a very effective art for real combat, not just a sport.
  17. I've been in street fights and i have never end on the ground. The clinch, YES all the time, the ground, NO. In fact, i avoid it. I've also see a lot of street fights that doesn't end on the ground. End up on the ground is a posibility, not a set rule.
  18. I like K-1 matches.. i've seen a couple of them on ESPN. I haven't watched a PRIDE yet.
  19. That demands to be strong. Body, mind and spirit. MAYBE, someday i'll give it a try. MAYBE!
  20. Depending on how good the instructor is and how fast you catch up, in that period of time you can have a solid foundation of the techniques of Judo.
  21. Yes, i'm agree with battousai16. Martial arts movie fight is for entretaining ONLY, if the fights in the M.A. movies were the same as on the street, it would be really boring to watch. Back to the thread. Movies with realistic kind of fights or realistic spots during the fights that comes to my mind right now are: 1.Rapid Fire starring Brandon Lee 2.Police Story 1, 2...starring Jackie Chan, lots of fancy stuff during the fights, but in the group vs 1 fights the bad guys attacked him at the same time and not one at the time. 3.RoadHouse starring Patrick Swayze, Not a Martial arts movies but the fighers were coreographed by Benny the Jet and they look realistic. 4.Chuck Norris movies tend to have quick and realistic kind of moves. 5.Bruce Lee movies also tend to have quick and realistic kind of moves on them. 6.Steven "seagull" Seagal also use quick moves. There aren't many realistic movies because the whole movie business is based on ilusion.
  22. I'd have to disagree, his weight would have nothing to do with UFC after all Royce Gracie wasn't exactly that big, infact he was scrawny himself and beat every guy bigger then him in the ring but one I believe. Royce Gracie is bigger than Bruce Lee and even him had problems to defeat bigger guys like Kimo and Dan Severn. I think Bruce Lee would have lost because he didn't have close to even half the skills these UFC guys have. If he was going to compete, I guess he'll train on the necesary techniques for that kind of competition. Remember he was already training in Boxing and Wrestling. Just watch his movies and you'll notice he was using less and less traditional kung fu techniques on them. Anyway, He wouldn't compete, by the time UFC started Bruce Lee were going to be like 60 years old. Despite what we have seen of him in movies and what we've heard of him, when it comes down to it Bruce Lee was just an actor who happened to know martial arts.I really doubt he was as good as we have all been made to believe. Bruce Lee as far as I am concerned was the best martial arts actor, but he was definitely no God and no real great martial artist. He was a martial artist. If you read his books and bio's, He didn't trained M.A. for the movies but for street fights. He used to be a street fighter in his teens back in Hong Kong. I cannot say he was the BEST M.A. EVER on the planet, of course he wasn't and yes, there might be a lot of hype about his M.A. skills but he was a martial artist.
