Karateka_latino replied to Hudson's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Wu Shu is chinese Martial Arts and is divided in many divisions. The ones The chinese Goverment is interest in promote are the Sport Wu Shu that we often see on TV and exibitions. But, Wu Shu have also real fighting techniques that they also train in. -
Wushu either Traditional or Modern, i mean, chinese martial arts in general are fun to watch. Also, i like to watch the demos of the Okinawan Masters performing Karate techniques the way they were meant to be. I saw a demo on video and it was impresive, not for been flashy but for been effective. And also TaekwonDo. The kicking is amazing.

Cross Training: Is three to much to handle?
Karateka_latino replied to Mu Ryuk's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, I guess that its ok for you to try to train in all 3... you have the time, seem that you also have the energy so go ahead and do it. If you start feeling is too much to handle then you can drop one and keep the other two. By the way, how long have you been training TSD and Escrima?? -

Ong Bak
Karateka_latino replied to Ali's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I've heard a lot of that movie in the Kung Fu Cinema forums. Looks like this guy is the "next big thing" in martial arts movies. I haven't seen Ong Bak yet just watched some vid-caps over the net. Cool to see a "Muay Thai" movie. We usually see Kung Fu and wires This days. -
How far away is your club?
Karateka_latino replied to aefibird's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It takes me an hour and a half to get from my house to the Dojo. But since i spend most of my time in the city i can go to the Dojo usually in minutes. -
Thanks for all your replies. Im working in another one, but it really takes time to do it. Im a little busy right now and I need to sit down with the Sensei, then write it down, translate it in English...And all that takes time.

I wouldn't wasted my 20's. I started training in my mid-teens and stoped when i was on my early 20's. On my mid-20's i didn't trained much and i completly stoped to train during my late 20's. Now in my 30's is when i started to resume my full-time training.

I believe in Full contact sparring. I don't think is something you can do on dialy basics but its good to train full-contact sparring.

Well, i think its a fair fight, from what i read, the oponent of the wing chun guy is a Karateka, not a Kickboxer. Also, the wing chun guy must have done some kind of preparation before the fight, i don't think he doesn't know the rules and i don't think he's not prepared for them. Since they are using kickboxing rules, Don't expect to see a wing chun vs karate fight, its likely to look like a Bad kickboxing match. lol

When we train Kata we usually do them twice each. When we are learning a new one, you repeat until you learn all the steps correctly.

You know, we actually MADE a Makiwara tonight.. As part of our karate training. We have to learn how to make those training tools that the okinawans used. Its cheaper to make them. It won't cost you more than $5 or $6 bucks. Its fun to make them and as FL says. Its YOUR makiwara.

My TKD instructor also did Hapkido.. he test it in a real situation once and it worked. Just make sure to find a good school.
