You are as old as you allow you to be. I've seen people done by there early 30's and also people still doing amazing things over the ages of 60 or 70.

I went to the school and personally talk with the teacher, and watched a class. It happends that the "person in charge" i talk to the first time wasn't the teacher itself and it was a missunderstood information, since i asked the information the first time from a phone boot, the street noise, and people around made ME missundertand the things that were be saying to me. NO, they are NOT directly affiliated with the Chin Woo, its just they happend to train similar styles and have hosted seminars with them. From the investigation i did over the entire weekend and today, seems like its a clean, legit, Nothern Kung Fu school.

HI, I went last night to visit a brand new Kung Fu school that opened a couple of weeks ago. Talked with the person in charge and he informed me that they teach northen kung fu and they are affiliated with the Chin woo association. Now, I asked him what exactly they teach, he tells me they teach the fundamental routines as a base and from there they teach eagle claw, shaolin, and 2 more i dont remember, plus the weapons. besides, tai chi, pakua, xinyi, And Sanda. My question is.. is that common, i mean, its common in chin woo association to have instructors prepared to teach ALL those forms and techniques??? I saw the class and I like it, but i have this little doubt.

I really wanted to train Kung Fu, thanks to Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan movies. After ONE YEAR of looking for a Kung Fu school, i got tired and joined a karate School near of my house. -

Good, very good. Congratulations. -
I didn't liked that they used the TKD guy to show off the effectiveness of the Katana if they already had Obata Sensei there.

Yes. But also, you have to think. If you are scoring a muay thai bout, one fighter is using more boxing and the other is trying to use his muay thai. One scored more with punches while the other scored with leg kicks, knees, etc.. Who do you think is going to take the round. Even with the fact that the "boxer" scored more punches, he won't be scored much since he's just relaying in boxing techniques.

Unfortunately, this is the way I think many masters feel, and the excuse of upholding "tradition" leads to a narrow-mindedness that stagnates learning and growth. I feel the same. It's a shame that people still think that way. I mean, we should keep the traditions of our respective arts alive, but we shouldn't sacrifice the oportunity of learn other things. About the thread. I think its more about asking advice and opinion than asking Permision, because my master don't own me, he's my teacher Yes, not my Lord. lol

what Im sick about is close-minded people who thinks that they do is the best and the rest doesn't work. It doesn't matter if its a TMA or a MMA. Train what makes you feel better and let other do whats best for them and live happy. Is not bad to think that what you train is the best for you, but don't close yourself to other things around that are great too. In the past i used to get caught in those pointless arguments until one day i stopped and started to do whatever made me happy but without discarding the other things. Learn everything you can, it doesn't matter if its TMA or MMA or whatever.
