  1. Starting to go off topic. Please, stick with the original discussion, which was Ninjutsu v Jujutsu. Thanks.
  2. in our Organization we have two more: Gekisai dai San (basic Kata 3) and Geki Ha (basic kata 4) Both created by Seikichi Toguchi.
  3. I'll watch it with my mind open and not so high expectations. lol
  4. http://www.iainabernethy.com He make videos about Kata and Bunkai. I haven't watched the videos myself but they look pretty nice.
  5. you can find information about Shudokan organizations here: http://www.okinawakenpo.com
  6. I'd take Japense Ju jitsu.. but also depends on how good the teacher is. Look for quality instruction rather than a particular style.
  7. Balance is the best.
  8. It depends if you are in a school that do more sport than self defense. Just keep an eye on what your Instructor encourage you to do, more sport or more self defense.
  9. Good Luck!
  10. I didn't liked that film much. Too much stunts/props and not many good fights. And the Big fight between Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen was waaaayyy too short. I read an interview with Donnie Yen in which he was talking about that fight. He said that they tried to make the fight of the Century but the Producer didn't wanted that fight to be long so they had to cut it short and the Producers Still cut the 60% of the entire fight they shot. Darn Producers!!!!! I think Jackie Should get back to his original Actor/Director/Producer work sowe can see a real "jackie chan movie".
  11. All i know is that the Writter of the Script "karate kid" is an actual Karate Black Belt. But I don't remember his name right now. Also, they had Fumio Demura. Im sure he gave some good advices.
  12. My fetish are martial arts products, specially Magazines, books, videos and old kung fu movies. Im trying to quit on magazines thought. but its too hard for me to do. lol I have a little collection kung fu movies from the 70's, 80's and early 90's.. I have like 80 plus movies. I used to chase them in the old Chinese videostores in Chinatown. I made friends with a chinese of the grocery store so he help me to pick the good ones. lol I needed and insider lol. Also, i like to chase old magazines and books. I go the Flea market To try to find old books printed on the 60's and 70's. Sometimes, i've skipped the oportunity to buy new clothes in order to get my books. lol
  13. We use Japanese, English AND Spanish in our class. lol
  14. (*You're wrong. Tai chi is NOT only for old people. What you're looking for is taichichuanfa (martial tai chi). If you can find a Tai Chi teacher who teaches it as a MARTIAL art, then pick tai chi. if not then judo is also good.*) Good Luck trying to find an Instructor willing to teach you "martial art" Tai Chi. The First and ONLY time i was exposed to that, it was from a Instructor who came from China to teach a yang tai chi chuan seminar. It's very dificult to find a Instrutor who's going to teach you the Real Combat Tai Chi. So, If you are hoping to get some kind of self defense training, try Judo. Its easier to find someone who can teach you the martial arts aspects of Judo. Good Luck.
  15. when i had my yellow belt in TKD. that belt test was special to me because the Master (who wasn't my teacher, he was just the head of the organization) made me fought with my Instructor at that time and he pushed me to the limits. After the test he told me he felt really proud of me because he was really trying his best to put me down during the sparring test and he couldn't knock me out, even with the fact i was dying tired.
  16. Great, great sites... Still, you'll need a teacher but this sites are cool.
  17. wellcome to the forums.
  18. Yes, we do a lot of bunkai training.
  19. Kimo and Royce already fought in UFC 3. Royce won in a hard battle.
  20. Yes, i'm agree. I have two books of Mas Oyama's Karate in which you can see his training methods and most of them comes from goju ryu karate. The Shotokan portion of Kyokushin is on the beginning stages and in the Katas. On Advanced stages, its mostly Goju ryu mixed with Thai Boxing, Judo, etc...
  21. Links to Organizations i've found on the Net: http://www.kickboxing.com/knowledge/search/styles/karate3.htm http://www.okinawan-shorinryu.com http://www.shorinryukarate.com http://www.shorin-ryu.net/links.html Just make sure to ask everything you need before join to any organization. Hope this helps.
  22. Actually Okinawan Karate in general is a great striking system for Short people because it was MADE by and for short people. Okinawan's body type was short and stocky. Now, if you can add jiu-jitsu is even better.
  23. Congratulations!!!!
  24. I'm 5'4", a little man. I've been told that Goju Ryu late great master Seikishi Toguchi was around the 5' or 4' 11".
  25. I don't know.. I don't like U.S. Jackie movies too much (wire work, CGI) i mean, that's NOT a "Jackie Chan movie", that's just another adventure movie with Jackie Chan on it. I stick with his older movies from the 70's, 80's and early 90's.
