  1. http://www.24fightingchickens.com Good link for Shotokan.
  2. I heard about that "punch to the head" rule about six months ago. Maybe its something that the WTF has been cooking for a while. by the way, I hope it happends. lol
  3. Go ahead and do it. It will take a while for you to get the benefits of Muay Thai techniques since its only half and hour/once a week. but it will worth.
  4. I've never heard of that one, but it looks pretty effective,
  5. Correction: i meant, depends on the TEACHER, not the style.
  6. Kickboxing as it is, its Just a sport. If you say, Muay Thai, then that can be consider as a kickboxing style with self defense use. strenghts: quick to learn, awesome conditioning, real contact training. Weaknesses: too sportive (limited to certain techniques), sometimes not even consider as a self defense art. Kung Fu. Strenghts: training and conditioning of all part of the body. Weaknesses: sometimes tends to be too flowerish and contains too many fancy techniques, too much into forms without applications, takes too many time to start using the techniques. Again, depends on the style.
  7. No Ti, Wong Fei Hong isn't a fictional character.. He was a true martial Artist/Doctor, He was an expert in Hung Gar Kung Fu, he was the son of Wong Kai Yin, the shadowless kick DO exist, he's a REAL Chinese folk Hero.
  8. And she's soooooo HOT,
  9. Geez, thats a good advice. i just wish to know what a Oxy-clean is. lol
  10. I have a small collection of both Old pre-80's and New mid 80's until now, Martial arts films. The very old films use Real Kung fu techniques but the coreography was tooooo slow.. The new ones are faster but i don't like the over use of Wires. I liked the late 70's early 80's films, just when the Kung Fu movies Era was dying.. the Moves were FAST and furious and they still used real Kung fu.
  11. To me the bigger problem with Bruce isn't just his techniques because he could have learned what he needed to compete like everyone else did and is doing. the problem is going to be his weight, he was barely 135 pounds. that's not good when you are going to face a SKILLED 200+ pounds person.
  12. HEARTS OF FIRE..STONG DESIRE!!! lol ITS A BURNING HEART!!!! LOL
  13. EYE OF THE TIGER! EYE OF THE TIGER! It's THE classic training music.. lol
  14. footwork and stances.. are VERY imporant in your M.A development.. its the diference between a rookie and a master.
  15. Im agree that in order to make up for the "no punches to the head" rule in Kyokushin, you can take Boxing.
  16. At the moment... 2 times a week, 1 1/2. and i try to train home everytime i have a chance to.
  17. If you want to specialize more on Competition, then Take Muay Thai or Kyokushin..... If you want Pure self defense, then Krav Maga.
  18. If you are interest in a just self defense system, then its useless for you to look into the more traditional styles since it takes time to make them work. Look for styles like Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, etc....
  19. There's NO one single stylist on UFC anymore. They all mix diferent M.A styles.
  20. I haven't done ITF so i can't speaking for that.. but, about WTF.. If you want to train TKD as a mainly as a martial art, then you should look for the TKD KWANS affiliated with the WTF, than the pure WTF schools that only do sports. Let me explain... if you want TKD as a martial Arts, you must look on the School who use KWAN names like Moo Duk Kwan; Chang Moo Kwan; Song Moo kwan; Ji Do Kwan, etc.... the Kwans usually joins to WTF for Rank reconitions but they keep the Tradition The PURE WTF TKD schools are mostly for sports. Period. Still, not 100% sure, some Kwan have turned into Pure sports and keep there kwan names. But there's still hopes out there for those who want to train Traditional Kwan TKD. If you don't believe me, ask karatekid1975. She found a great kwan type TKD school and she's happy with it. lol
  21. Marc Dacascos also had a fight with Sammo Hung in the TV series "Martial Law". Sammo Hung said about him that he's the only American that can match "hong kong style" coreography, and that says a lot..
  22. It's a nice Post... I think he made a point there. I believe that one single art doesn't make you a good fighter... but not all people in M.A. want to be fighters. Anyway, I think also that if you want to be a better overall M.A. you have to look on other Arts to be well rounded.
