black belt in aikido
Karateka_latino replied to PhilM1's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
You know, I asked the same thing to an Aikido sensei once. She answer something like this.."when you become water.you need to move like water in order to be an Aikido stylist, otherwise, you aren't doing Aikido. And that can't be measure by time, it depend on the individual" -
To make Boxing Street effective you may need to Train with a very very Dirty fighter, who teachs you how to use all the tools of boxing in real street fights. Someone with rind AND street fighting experiences who can teach you how to hit without your gloves so you don't break your hands and things like that.

It's not easy to defend against a good "jabber", it can be confusing and frustrating. I think the best shot an Aikido stylist have is to learn how to not been caught with jabs. Also, the Aikidoka needs to learn how to move. Not just to stay there waiting for a raw attack. if you get static against a good boxer trying to catch there blows, you'll be dead meat.

I have a question Why the Hottest girls in M.A train in TKD/TSD.? -
Why Not? Do you know how easy is to "buy" a belt this days? lol I can even believe that guy can have Black Belt. lol Any McDojo would love to have a celebrity on there lines. lol If that is the case, can he back up that Rank? Not of course. But im just wondering, maybe he DID trained when he was a Kid or a teenager and gave up.

The serious 'What's the most deadly style of karate' thread
Karateka_latino replied to Rich's topic in Karate
It really comes down to the way you train.... Basically Karate in general have the same tools. All karate styles have reverse punch, front/side/roundhouse kicks, elbows, knees, etc.... It will depend if the school is lean towards point-style competition or realistic self defense. Im also agree that any style who train full contact sparring can be better prepared to handle real life situations. just my opinion. -
I don't think anyone really spar 100% in training. Otherwise you would end in the hospital after every workout. I don't even think in competition you fight 100%. Maybe close to. Only in a self defense situation i can see someone giving it All.

Hapkido is a korean Self defense system derived from the old Japanese style Daitoryu Aikijujutsu. The system curriculum have kicks, hand strikes, elbows, knees, join locks, throws, some ground grappling. At higher levels, weapons and weapons defense, accupunture, Ki development. Its a martial art for those who likes to work on several things. As far as for the Instructor been overweight. I'll say that first go and watch a couple of classes. The important thing is he been a great teacher.

An offer you can't refuse...
Karateka_latino replied to Karateka_latino's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Oh and i forgot to say. I think i'll be the only 100% civilian in the class. lol! Since the Focus of his Schools are going to be the Martial Arts and Combat training, and the Sport side is going to be focused for childrens and teenagers, my "classmates" are going to be Policemans, security guards, bodyguards, former soldiers, etc.. lol -

Yes, I like to teach, I think you can learn even more when you teach. Take you to another level of understanding anything you teach. About the money. I'll have to sign a Contract in which i agree to attend the classes, i don't have to pay for this classes, just for the belt test that are going to be 3 (green,Brown,Black). Then after i reach the Instructor level. He'll open a School for me in a place we both agree. I'll be Not forced to move to wherever he wants to open the school, No. He'll try to open the School in a place confortable for both of us. Then I'll teach, I'll get paid a % That's yet to be discussed and the other % and the test fees are for him. After the Contract is over. I'll be free to stay with him or leave. He says, we want his organization to be Strong so he'll do anything so we all grow together. Now, Im not a friend of Contracts, but this one i think its, Fair. Besides, its not a McDojo type of contract. It's just a way to be sure the people won't leave after they get the training for free and he gives them the Black Belt. lol! He was also showing me a letter for the HeadQuaters Organization President in Okinawa in which they both agree the student exchange so we'll have the chance to go to Okinawa and train under the HeadMaster.
