one thing that i don't understand is ,when Nagamine and Miyagi created Gekisai(fukyugata)Ichi(Nagamine) and Dai(Miyagi) , sensei Nagamine adapted both but sensei Miyagi didn't adapte the first one and just kept his kata(Dai) and continued expanding it. anyone knows why he ignored Nagamine's Kata?

I've been looking for this sensei in Okinawa from last year, his name is Matsuda but he has nothing on net, things would be much easier if people like him has a web site or a e-mail address.I guess old masters are not care about this kind of publicity.

I remember in a BJJ class sensei's wife was practicing with us too , one day he was explaning something and his wife was sitting on his gaurd and wife was trying to get a eye lash off his face while he was talking, it was very funny he pissed off and shouted "don't touch me like this in the class".

change the plugs on the hard disk cable, IDE cable out of mother board has 2 pluge for 2 devices ,I think first one will be master and second one slave, you still need to set the jumpers though, also check the BIOS before boot up, go inside and there should be some option about IDE device detection. he is on a right track just change these stuff he should be able to get it work.

Shorinryu Sensei, I thought hohan soken had changed lots of katas when he came back from soth America, it's interesting that sensei kise gone the same way,

ok the first one you saw is hakutsuru kata from matsumura seito shorin-ryu, there are tens of them out there although Matsumura never tought that to anyone but his son. -Ryuken(dragon fist) Sanchin . -Matsumura no hakutsuru (sho and dai) and some more and could you explain how matsumura no passai is different from passai dai?

this picture shows shiko dachi only not a kiba dachi. in the case of subway i would try sanchin dachi.

I found Matsumura passai in classical kata of okinawa by pat Mccarthy,and as i thought it's %90 same as passai dai, also check on fuse kise his passai should be Matsumura passai too since he is student of hohan soken (Matsumura seito shorin ryu ).

sparring depends on school, I checked him, he teaches white crane kungFu ,it is not okinawan Hakutsuru. and yes it is effective.

I am not sure but I think matsumura passai is close to passai dai, there is clip of passai dai on https://www.wonder-okinawa.jp, I think Mckarthy(spl.?) explains this kata it his book too, I 'll check it out tonight.

the way gojuchad explained is standard, hands come to both sides, first punch left is higher while in right forward stance ,the step to natural ,sit back to left forward stance and after mawashi block ,bouble punch with right higher. in gekisai dai ni, there are 2 open hand circular block and after second one you keep the block and turn from 45 degree back to straight forward still in cat stance then left back to attention stance. I am hopeing master jules reads this and explain more.

pyeman, out of my style i've been impressed by Anan Kata from Ryuie ryu , you can see a clip by sensei Sakamoto(kata world champion) at https://www.wonder-okinawa.jp also 3 new shorin ryu kata created by sensei Matsuda are great, I love the first one "Seru" it's a open hand kata and a mixture of shuri-te and naha-te.

to me it looks like matsubayashi shorin ryu.

shorin ryuu, in Naihanchi , how wide was his leg? did you see any inward angle or it was parallel? shotokankid , your bassai dai kata is almost same as our(shorin ryu kobayashi) passai sho (Itosu no passai), we just use cat stance and some cross stance where you use front stance.

1- I have seen some very high rank karate-ka who starts with a kata and finishes with another kata, IMHO 10 kata correct is better than 50 soso. 2- Shotokan has nothing to do with Goju ryu. 3- Gekisai kata has two parts the second one also has two parts ,so goju ryu practice Gekisai dai ich, Gekisai dai ni fukyugata ni should be same as gekisai dai ich some body correct me if I am wrong here.

many points come from round house kick to the side of the head , some times you may get point by front kick counter attack. also reverse round house is a good one to make points.forget about back kicks. you gotta work on your hand techniques if you spar in shotokan.

CapitalKarate, there are 4 major shorin ryu styles 1- Matsomura seito (you can say this the original) 2- Kobayashi shorin ryu (shorinkan) 3- Shobayashi shorin ryu (shaolin) 4- Matsubayashi shorin ryu tell us about your katas and grand masters so we may find out about you lineage.

that's right we don't do side kick but ,for examole shotokan , after augmented block they stack two fist , then chamber hands and left leg ready for side kick, then back fist same time as side kick to knee, then go to 90 degree stance ,grab the neck and elbow strike as they turn to zenkutso dachi, (we use cat stance here). I think shuto ryu do the same. funakoshi and mabuni were itosu's students ,so it is possible that the original kata was two side kicks before elbow strikes.but I can't find out. I practice shindo jinen ryu as well , in this style also we do side kick but again the founder of shindo jinen was a friend of funakoshi and mabuni. I need to find out how shobayashi ryu does it(seibukan).

I've watched sensei Nakazato doing kusanku dai on https://www.wonder-okinawa.jp he turns back and throws a back fist and a side kick together. but my sensei throwa a front kick, as you may know the majority of shuri-te based styles use a side kick in pinan yondan(I know Matsobayashi ryu also does front kick) and begining of pinna shodan (heian nidan), I've heard sensei chibana altered the side kick to front kick. I really like to know the way Itosu designed this kata.
