Gankaku is a 5th Dan Kata, How come? if we do the original kata chinto in color belt level how come a simplified kata becomes 5 dan kata?

I'll give this one a shot. It doesn't seem like it'd work too well, as many of the guys at my dojo are much heavier and could just power me away. these all happen together ,when you move in a right time(that's the key,timing and position, i have seen sensei lindsey moves slightly off set without opponent feeling it)you push their front hand toward their back hand and strike. if you move off set to their side you need to push above the elbow otherwise their elbow come to your face. we have a basic drill we use a lot. front hand jab,jab . third jab you move in and forth is your strong back hand hits. key is to move inside while doing the third jab.

is your sanchin same as Miyagi Sanchin or it's a open hand with turns? how about your Hakutsuru is it Matsumura Hakutsuru sho,dai?

He knows Shito-ryu but he is in a good relation with JKF so he teaches and give you certificate from JKF. they all the same don't worry about it, so you are learning Shotokan Karate JKF version. "Why are there hundreds of Governing bodies?" it's all about money.

Hi Sauzin, I Consider Okinawan Kenpo a shuri style based on the founder style, Nakamura started his karate in shuri under his father,uncle and Choki Motobu, he met Kuniyoshi after his collage (correct me on this one if i am wrong. Ref. Mark Bishop) before that he was with Yabu (student of Matsumura and the only man I know who beat Motobu ) and Hanashiro( another student of Itosu). looking into katas originally tought by Nakamura including Naihanchi I,II,III, Pinan I,II,III,IV,V,Passai sho,Dai, Kusanku Sho,Dai, Gojushiho,chinto,as well as Kuniyoshi's katas Sanchin,Niseishi,Seisan,Anan,Seipa shows he is shuri master from itosu lineage with infuences from chinese boxing. what i am not sure is that he ever trained under Sakiyama directly or it was through Kuniyoshi. I don't know if his son Taketo has changed any of his fathers katas. what are the katas of okinawan kenpo you practice now? do you consider your kumite style close to motobu ryu ?

the karate as we practice today in many styles is not the original tuite as it was practiced in okinawa. i was talking to sensei Lindsey on Sunday(master of tuite and one of highest rank in matsumura seito and white crane) he mentioned anywhere he goes he has to pull the people up from their Zenkutsu dachi or teach high ranks how to hold a weapon correctly since these all have been changed and adapted for tournoments during the years, for example a simple middle block , i have seen many styles bring their hands inside their body like a "X" to protect their center line and then block a punch with middle block, the way he does it most of the time is to slightly defelect the punch with back hand while front hand is punching the body(under the incoming punch) then front hand turns and push the punching hand totaly off, and same blocking hand punch over, these all like a simple middle block but there is actualy no block at all.

I checked 5 pinan in your style ,they are almost 90% same as ours, i had the same problem when i was practicing Shindo jenin and Kenshin kai at the same time.

i felt totaly down when i was told chuck chandler stole all the tapes sensei lindsey had gathered during the years and is not returning them, i really can feel the pain of losing all those priceless tapes to a convict like chuck chandler. he been challenged several times by sensei lindsey's student and always had a excuse.

i had the same day ,as soon as i walked in it started "chrome tank doesn't work what should i add?"
