  1. In real fighting we use short natural stances. But in Kumite we use stances like Kokutsu Dachi. This makes getting point easier. Changing stance also confuses the enemy in kumite. I kinda hate point sparring as it is so fake. And I can't really think of any situation were you will use long exageratted stances. I think to score a point you need correct stance. So they are important for point sparring.
  2. I couldn't do pushups when I started. But I found if you started of doing wall push ups. Then it would be easier to do ten pushups. I then did ten push ups every 1/2 hour. I did that for 2 week. After that I moved onto 20 then 30. I don't have as much time to practise pushups anymore. So I currently can only do 30 even though it's been months.
  3. I got my orange belt last Thursday. Congratulations
  4. It's gone . Some one post it and i'll promise to re-host it.
  5. I would love to see it. Please post it.
  6. Anyone have a link to an article about this. I try tensing before the end of the punch but it still hyper extends. What is this kime point? Sorry if I sound noobish. But I am a beginner.
  7. When I do a left punch I always hear a clicky noise from my elbow hyper extending. When I do it it with my right I notice that it too hyper extends but doesn't make a noise. I've heard that many old karateka's have damaged the elbow joints due to the contstantly using the corkscrew karate punch. Is this a fault with technique? If so what am I doing wrong?
  8. In my dojo we have recently started practising Uramawashigeri. How effective is this move? And what is the best place to hit it with? Thanks In Advance, Chirath
  9. It's definetly your computer
  10. UFC is the closest to a real fight. However most street fights involve multiple opponents. So your hardly want to go into groundwork. You want to be able to hit fast and hard and try and leg it if possible. UFC is good for one on one fights. And will get you used to hits. It won't get you 100% prepared for a street fight but will do a pretty good job in preparing yourself.
  11. Sapp got pwned in Round 1. Made a comeback in Round 2. Then I would say it was pretty even in Round 3. Sapp's kick were very slow in that match. He should have stuck with his punches.
  12. Some Kyokushin fighters get used to not getting hit in the face and leave the guard low. However i'd probably say 99% learn to just place their guard higher and take the hits in a real fight. Definetly my favourite #1 Style. If only there was a dojo near me
  13. I didn't really understand the concept of point sparring and kept on jabbing the head. Ended up losing loads of points and wasting money on entering the tournament. Put me off point sparring as I could easily have beaten most of the people in a full contact. At the end the smallest kid there won it. Quite a success but now he thinks he can win fights. Even though point sparring is nothing like a real fight and he is the weakest person I know.
  14. The nerves for me stayed the same. It's just how a grading is done that affects my nerves. For my first two belts I graded either while in lesson or after lesson with just my sensei and a few other students. When I had to grade in front of 15 parents watching Ibecameverynervous and my technique began to falter. I even began to confuse the outer block with the inner block.
  15. Whats the point posting if you do Kung Fu?
