Alot of Wado students seem to come from Canada and the UK. I like the style but would happily move over in a second if there was a kyokushin school near me. I like the ju-jitsu part of Wado Ryu but personally I would prefer doing a strong style than a faster one. What are you guys impressions about Wado Ryu?

I was just wondering if anyone does wado ryu in this forum. All the members who did wado ryu seem to have gone. It suppose to be one of the popular karates. So this is just a roll call to any wado ryu studetns. Maybe we can start a discussion about it here.

I like having an intense karate lesson at night time. So you can lay down exhausted and get some real good sleep. It's also cool and peaceful at night. You also get to check out your moves if someone tries it on you

However most of those out of shape people have poor diets. My obese friend started karate to lose weight. Yet after every lesson he has a big fat greasy chicken meal and a pepsi. When I ask him why. He says he can't be asked.

My sensei does it for the basics but never for kata. But I think at black belt level he starts teaching the bunkai for kata.

Even though I would love to have that money. It would suck not being able to spend it on martial arts training. My dream is to have a 6 hour lesson one day (Of course with breaks)

All that equipment sounds expensive. Your lucky your dojo can afford that much. We have to fit 30 students sometime into our small church hall which is rented out

IMO I think Karate styles should make students over 16 do weight traning and have a level of strength in order to grade. But that will never happen and would probably cost too much. Although my friend does boxing and they make their students do weights. And I've think I heard its the same for Jeet Kune Do (Spelling). But im not quite sure.

I am going to be buying a Makiwara. Yet I will be putting it on my wall. Does anyone have any experience with Makiwaras on walls. I have seen footage of them being on a post and being used. Yet I have never seen footage of them being used on a wall. Is there a point buying a Makiwara if it's being used on the wall. And what are the advantages/disadvantages of using it on a wall? Thanks in advance for all the Karatekas who will help

Group fights in my area tend to be 6 - 8 Vs how many friends you have. I find the best technique is to run

It's wado btw not Wadu

Great stuff.

It doesn't matter about your age for ranking. But for Black Belt training you are required to do 100 press ups and know all the Katas perfectly. I have never seen a 13 year old do that much. Hoever I guess it's possible with the right student

Judo is in the olympics but you don't see many McDojos of them. Or at least more of them than before Judo became an olympic sport.

Hey cool Style ^_^. Black belt at the age of 13. Sounds a bit mcdogish. Let me guess you have an Asus Radeon card . I don't think anyone in this forum knows the japanese language fluently. But we'll see.

I know, Judo and TKD in the olympic look like a pansy's game with ineffective street purposes. It gives a bad name to these arts. However it still would be more interesting than no Karate in the olympics at all.

I submitted. Good luck getting the names.

Good luck mate. What style is it?

Im biased towards Wado Ryu. But choose the best one which suites your needs. If your looking for Health. Do the most intense one. Or if your bothered about fighting do the one with the most realistic sparring. Also if you have a higher grade in one of them you may want to carry on with it. Personally I see Wado Ryu as an improved version of shotokan. But that is my biased opinion and I respect Shotakan karate practitioners. Hell my favourite fighting character is Ryu.
