  1. Fought and killed 52 bulls with his bare hands? I dunno man, if he could back it up I'd believe it. But Frank Dux made some pretty far out claims that he couldn't back up.
  2. Which would you recommend as a system of self defense.
  3. Chuck Norris is the most boring action star ever. Just listening to his somber voice will put you to sleep. Jean-Claude Van Damme is funny to watch in any movies. His horrible acting kept him from ever getting a real big break, thus he is a washed up action star. Very athletic and fit, but was more concerned with partying than learning to really fight. Bruce: What can I say? He is the man and will always be the man. Jackie Chan: Guy is in his 50's and is still a strong performer. Steven Seagal: Guy's made a Mountain Dew commercial after years of obsecurity from the "A Movie" scene. Yipee. Still a great fighter who could never make money.
  4. Hands down, my pick for the toughest fighter of all-time is legendary Welsh fist fighter and boxer Jimmy Wilde. Jimmy Wilde weighed no more than 110 pounds (Sorry non-Americans I don't know that weight in Kilos) and stood at a mere 5 ft. 1 inch. He worked his child hood in the cole mines day to night developing tremendous shoulder strength as a result. He made money for his poor family by working at the fighting booth at the local circuses, fist fighting local tough men (Some weighing over 200 lbs.) and knocking them out with ease (up to ten fights in one day). Wilde was inducted in the Boxing hall of fame in the 1960's and is considered the toughest and most talented boxer pound for pound of all time, going undefeated in 100 professional bouts. Yes, professional bouts. He was the flyweight champ for years.
  5. Theres 25 emphasized kicks.
  6. A great spoof would be Double Team with JCVD and Rodman. It's great how he pretends to know martial arts while doing lots of cocaine at the same time.
  7. Jean Claude Van Damme always gets his * kicked in fights until he magically gains energy at the very last second and does lots and lots of spin kicks. He does the splits alot He can't act to save his life He got his * kicked by a bouncer in real life when he got drunk at a night club and talked about it on Howard Stern.
  8. Yes, the west tend to perceive it as a competitive sport only. The east use it for all that personal enlightenment.
  9. Women's self defense methods..... 1. Kick to the groin 2. Kick to the groin 3. Kick to the groin 4. Pull Hair 5. Use nails 6. Scream really really loud
  10. I'm athletic because of training. I'm naturally tall and lanky.
  11. Man stretching is mandatory in any sport, not just martial arts. Hell, it's recommended to stretch before a golf match. I've found using two chairs and stretching the inner thighs is the best method for developing elevation on sidekicks.
  12. Jujitsu is more for competition than street wise fighting. I'd recommend Kickboxing or Karate for self defense but man you wanna talk about a workout. Jujitsu is great for keeping strong on the wrestling mat.
  13. BJJ is great. Hapkido is better. Just my humble opinion.
  14. Yes I heard the fact that Will Smith has a black belt. Weird right?
  15. I HATE, yes I HATE, Roy Jones Jr. He's so arrogant and conceited as a fighter. He cannot accept the fact that there is somebody better than him that just proved that fact. Didnt mean to double post, i misspelled a word.
  16. I HATE, yes I HATE, Roy Jones Jr. He's so arrogant and conceited as a fighter. He cannot except the fact that there is somebody better than him that just proved that fact.
  17. Kata sequences, Shotokan is less contact than Goju Ryu, which Is more full contact. Just your tastes I guess.
  18. Um, Don't really use hard contact in Hapkido even though I tend to do it anyways. Kind of a soft meets hard style since Aikido and Okinawan Taijuitsu are the principle influences. It's kind of hard to explain it's like a combination of internal / external concepts. So to answer the question, I would consider Hapkido to be Semi-Contact, most definately. In a streetfight, however, you won't see me using the "Soft Stuff".
  19. Heavy set, Little Experience......yeah i'm sure you'd kick Tank Abbott's *.
  20. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. From what I've learned, Hapkido is closely related to Aikido as opposed to TKD. Tae Kwon Do seems to me to be more for show and Hapkido is more practical for self defense applications. Of course I'm sure plenty of TKD'ers will bomb this topic with angry bashing. I mean, would you use an axe kick or a 540 in a street fight? Maybe if you wanted to scare the attacker off with some flashy moves, but you'd probably want to subdue the enemy with a wristlock, low strikes aimed at the knee, chickenwings/shoulder locks.
  21. Kind of pointless if your a tournament fighter or a ring fighter on the Muay Thai scene (Like ISKA fighters). I mean, would a boxer who's trying to be the best boxer a boxer can possibly be pick up Aikido?
  22. Yeah JKD is a spectacular art. I dunno but the flashyness doesn't appeal to me. For reliable self defense, I'd go with good ol' Karate or Combat Hapkido.
  23. Well I would naturally say Hapkido since it's the only style I really focus on, but kickboxing and BJJ are very effective.
