  1. Yes that would be quite an interesting match up. Two completely opposite philosophies on fighting. I don't really know much about Aikido other than what I've seen in Steven Seagal flicks but an Aikido/Boxing fight would be pretty cool to watch.
  2. Cung Li, a San Shou fighter just beat Bulldog Petit last night on K-1 replay. Man that was a sweet fight.
  3. Muay Thai is a very athletic and physically demanding sport MA. It's the national sport of Thailand and your basically a thai boxer or a farmer over there. Hapkido is a great self defense and combat style which emphasizes joint locks and pressure point strikes with the hands and feet. Karate is extremely effective as it is the most popular form of MA in the US along with TKD.
  4. It means way of the gentle hand. It's older than modern karate and was used by Samurai as an unarmed system during the Fuedal Age, it's Japanese wrestling. It's very effective from what I hear though I've never trained in it. I know that Combat and Traditional Hapkido were derived from specific concepts of Jujitsu and Aikido.
  5. Does that idiot realize the money you pour into the karate institute is on his pay check. The instructors at the karate school near my place can't lay a finger on a student in that particular manner without losing their job.
  6. Hapkido is an awesome and well rounded Korean Martial Art invented by Master Choi (A Korean who moved to Japan as a young man) in the early 1930's. It imploys kicking, punching, joint locks, takedowns, and weapon forms. It was derived from Aikido and Aiki-jujitsu. Various wristlock, elbowlock, and other joint lock techniques are mastered. Check out Combat-Hapkido.com for a visual.
  7. Jean Claude Van Damme so I can kick his Ballet dancing *! No just kidding. I've always wanted to spar against Jackie Chan just because his fight scenes are always so intense.
  8. The guys 23 years old. He looks 15. I've never seen anything quite like it.
  9. Hapkido - An excellent style for the streets. Joint locks & hard offense.
  10. Jackie Chan and Jet li have Wushu history.
  11. Yeah it's pretty dirty. Last November Francious Botha punched the dude when he was on the ground in the first 10 seconds. Damn frenchman. You'll see Shannon Briggs and Botha in action Friday. I'm gettin it on PPV.
  12. My favorite move? The one that wins the fight.
  13. I would keep a switchblade by my side at all times.
  14. Nope, can't say I know him and about the 2000 other TKD Instructors.
  15. Shaving your body hair is basically so you can look good for the ladies. It doesn't have that much of a benefit. Rocky Marciano was the harriest dude on the planet.
  16. Eat alot of proteins and pick up weight training, along with a cardiovascular routine.
  17. You spelled it right. I'm not sure if one's better than the other, I've studied a little Shotokan before picking up Hapkido, but the kata is different. Karate pretty much has the same principles, Shotokan is a very linear style which emphasizes Power and Balance. I'm sure Kyokushin has the same principles, just different techniques. Like Denis Alexio once coined in the old martial arts flick Blood Sport "A punch is a punch, a kick is a kick".
  18. Steven Seagal(Aikido) Jet-Li (kung-fu) Chuck Norris(Tang Soo Do) Jackie Chan(Wushu and Wing Chun) Jean Claude Van Damme (Shotokan/Ballet)
  19. Awesome movie. Better than the first, which I found a little too zany.
  20. He's had charges on beating his wife and has spent time in and out of drug addiction centers for his cocaine and alcohol problems. His highlight movie was kickboxer, which was actually an impressive movie.
  21. Yes I've heard that aspirin causes the blood to thin out but I think that he suffered a brain aneurysm because of an overdose of painkillers. It's kind of debatable.
  22. It depends on where you get your training and how much dedication you put into it. Also age and athletic ability are a factor. Usually about 3 years. Getting a black belt doesn't make you some ultimate fighting machine though.
  23. He was a really popular boxer back in the 80's, known for his flamboyant fighting style and flashy apparal. Former Middle weight champ and welterweight champ.
