  2. Are you serious rb that is bad? I remember a girl I was dating tell me that back when she was in high school and was going out to the prom with some guy. When came to pick her up her dad was sitting in his lounge chair in the living room and was cleaning his shot gun. He didn't touch her the the whole night lol! -Jeff
  3. some of the the best BJJ no-gi teachers that I know of. Chris Brennan, Eddie Bravo, Dean Lister, and of course Mark Laimon his students are wicked good. Any one know of other extremely good BJJ no-gi instructors? -Jeff
  4. For fun in a point sparring tourment or sparring in general if your opponent moves by hopping around. I seen other spars do this were the bounce up and down and move around that way. Time them on there bounce soon as they are on there up go in and hit them. They are off balance and can't get a good defense or offense on them they are pretty vulnerable. So just catch them on the way up of there bounce and can get in on them 99.9% of the time. that .1% is not in there because if you mess up the technique timing it wrong or to far a distance which again throws off the timing and they are on the way down already back in there base they can counter. Not a secret at all it is widely known. There isn't many secrets out there that I know of except one. Practice thats the biggest secret that people end up over looking. What some consider secrets to others is just common knowlege and every day common practice. -Jeff
  5. My school is run by 6 year old black belt. and darn it when you inter are school you best call him "Sir" You don't want to be on the recieving side of one of his temper tantrums. Carry on! -Jeff
  6. I respect women. Both men and women go join MA to learn. But people are people and can find each other attractive nothing wrong with asking the other person to go hang out or for a date even. I no what it is that makes it more attractive that women do the marital arts. One if they got really good skills. The idea they can kick are butts is kind of appealing. Actually not really if you look at mens rolls in the past. they were considered the protectors and providerd for there familys. While the women were the nurturing mothers and caretakers of the house hold and what not. So I think it is a relief we subconciously feel when we see them able to take care of them selves. It also comes of to us that there is more to this women. Also again its that we share the same passion. Shoot if I found a women who liked MMA as much as I do or more and loved watching UFC, Pride and the other smaller shows and liked same fighters. If she was cute to I would be defiently excited for her. Because we share the same passion. Again there is diffrences. You can have things in common and hit it off with each other but to have the same passion that just brings it ona whole diffrent deeper level. Just some of my thoughts. -Jeff
  7. I just went back and re-read it. I feel like tool. I appologize! -Jeff
  8. I put it out because I thought it was interesting topic of Larry showing his technique's on to the ground. but every one states there opinion on here but I keep hearing reasons that don't make since. So I state mine. This is a forum to discuss martial arts stuff on. -Jeff
  9. ninjanurse nice of you to jump in. The more the merrier. "I think the idea here is to demonstrate possible applications not show actual situations you may encounter. If you are aware that a technique can be applied you may be able to do so when the moment is right, i.e. during the mount before your opponent has the opportunity to settle on you and is off balance. " You have a point but the person if a grappler settles into the postion first before doing hard comitted hits. Most of the time. Take a look again at Larry Tatums technique it is based off the momentum of his opponent commiting to the attack. So the problem is he has to commit to the attacker before he stablizes the position. If he doesn't do that and works the postion first then dedicates the attack the opponent using that technique is going to have a hard time getting him off him. So the person actually has to have that high mount were the weight if off the attacker for that to work effectively. Once a base is established the tehcnique is ineffective. -Jeff
  10. I seen on one of the PrideFC DVD's , Renzo Gracie was talking on it. Saying how he came home one day and found some guy sitting on the couch with his daughter watching some movie so he goes up behind him and chokes him out.
  11. Thanks for the info Delta1. Again I undedrstand it was a tip for the idea for the student to think how to use there stand up technique on the ground. But we both seem to agree that some one with a decent mount that technique would be hardpressed to work very well. -Jeff
  12. I know it was a tip about tranfering skills. But he should have least talked about the attack. For example if your doing inward defense with the right side of your body. Your not going to have the attacker do a left hook punch to your head. Technique isn't designed for that. Same with the that type of mount. Like I said lts good he is trying to answer there questions and say there art can transfer over for ground use. but the practicality of it leaves a bit to be desigred for. -Jeff
  13. Wow! Karatekid your getting me all excited. Yeah I know what you mean. If some one comes off arragant about there stuff. They just seem annoying. -Jeff
  14. I have mix feelings about them. I am BJJ practioner also. For BJJ obviously we owe it all to the gracie's. As MMA is concerned they aren't the greatest fighters to watch. -Jeff
  15. actually 4 main branches of Shorin Ryu, Kobayashi, shobayashi, matsubayashi, and Matsumura.
  16. http://www.ltatum.com/movies/Week22/TipOfTheWeekMedW22.html I thought it was interesting and it is good he try to adapt his stand up technique for use on the ground. but did a diservice but least not explain it was for that certain attack. In kenpo I know they do technique for certain punches, straight punch, a hook, ect. But they are still a punch. For that technique to work effectively the peron needs to be mounted in the same with with the high weight distribution. If he dropped his base lower or if it was a BJJ'er or some other grappler who is more adept at use of the mount the techique would be ineffective. I got to say one thing he is pretty fast with his hands though. -Jeff
  17. I know it refers to enrgy aspects. My knowlege is very little. -Jeff
  18. My point exactly you need motion to use the weight. -Jeff
  19. Yeah I wouldn't really think that gi's are really sexy. For me a women with good skills in her style, I would find sexy. -Jeff
