Aiming to bounce or to go through?
jeffrogers replied to YoungGrasshopper's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Exactly sasori_te. People on here aree talking about doing one or the other it seems like. Glad I am on same page as some one else. -Jeff -
Stinky people I will not grapple with. yuck! lol! okay I think I know the choke your talking about. is that the one were one forarm is in the opponets throat and the other around there head holding them so they won't base up. Basically one around the head is grabing the other arms ebow. And the one pushing in the throat the hand is is grabing the bicept. Basically called a box choke or other names. But does that sound like the same choke or diffrent? -Jeff

I know what your saying but I am not talking about surface hitting. Yeah if yout touch the surface and pull back its not going to hurt as much. Ex. round house kick. But if you go through. Example Muay thai round house kick. Then you get more power. But even in muay thai from what my friend showeed me your going through but you still bounce off so to speak you just have more through motion. same with a punch is you still make through power but you pull back as well. -Jeff -
I would look for succeful schools and see how they did there business modeling. Just becareful about business eithics. You want it a Win Win situation for you and the customer. Other wise you will be burned with a bad rep and probably lost of students and income in the end. Alot of succesful schools have good marketing promotions. Stuff like black belt programs, weapons programs for kids, They sale martial arts supply stuff, plus mutitude of other programs that do help the student but cost a bit extra which brings in the cash. Plus a good one that one of my old instructors is using. Is with his advanced students who are teaching. Who ever the help bring in they get a commission off of them and also a certain comission for every month that student stays in. This is a win win. The student gets incentive to bring people in and also helps students out to stay in more. This gives the new student more one one with one of the advance peopole with there needs in the martial arts. It works out nice. There are many things you can do. I would look through the web for something of profesional martial arts business and such and ask succesful school owners. -Jeff

If you want to damage a human being, you are going to need to penitrate. You can bounce your movement, but you will need to go farther than "one inch" before you do or all you will do is sting. I quoted that from Jerry love, my point exactly. You need both. You stay on the target you can cause alot of damage but if you penetrate and bounce you cause even more. -jeff -
Hung Gar stylist wins UFC fight.

style or technique does have a play in this. I don't think Royce would win against Shamrock now like he did in the first UFC. Do to lack of knowlege of the ground work by fighters. But now knowledge is out there and so is hte counters and training in and adpation ot compete against grapplers is out there. This is one reason why I think the clinch is going start being more a huge part in take downs. Do to people getting reallly good at sprawling on shoots. It is both the invidual and the style or training methods. -Jeff -

Aiming to bounce or to go through?
jeffrogers replied to YoungGrasshopper's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
You can do both. You focus on punching through but once you make contact or some penitrating contact you pull back.
