  1. I'm outa here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. That's been David Lee Roth's philosophy. Party all night, work it off the next day.
  3. That's interesting. In Kuk Sool Won, we aren't awarded more points for jumping kicks. We only get more points for a kick to the apponent's head. As far as the hight of the jump, isn't this all stemming from the old need to knock someone off their horse? A lower jump kick still can give your kick the same force as a higher one. That's probably why they have no problem promoting those of us that can't jump. I can't jump either. However, I'm pretty tall, so even a small hop gets me up there.
  4. I agree that head shots are necessary, just in a controlled environment. Like was said before, it's a good "wake me up" that you didn't keep your guard up. I try a steer away from straight on the nose ones, though. And yes, we require head gear and mouthpieces as well. That said, who here allows strikes to the back and back of the head? I don't know of ANY tourneyment, short of UFC, that allows it. However, a lot of our striking techniques are aimed at pressure points and weaknesses in back of the opponent. I don't like having to pull my attack completely when I realize I was instinctively going for an open spot from behind. [ This Message was edited by: KSN Doug on 2002-01-16 12:29 ]
  5. Yeah I know what you mean. I've been having this nagging voice in the back of my head telling me how bad that kind of food is, and how good for you food is just as tasty. What I usually do is.... turn around and tell my wife to "QUIT NAGGING ME, I DON'T EAT THAT MUCH OF IT!!!!!! :kaioken: O.k., tell me you married guys and gals didn't see that one coming.
  6. General???!!!! I don't think there's any general style on this board. Look at all the forums to choose from. Yeah I saw Perfect Weapon. Good flick. I esspecially liked his bout in the gym. But why did they show him learning from an old oriental guy instead of Parker? That's a rhetorical question of course. The answer is always "That's Hollywood".
  7. Yeah, I especially like the part about half way through when you start the paragraph with "Finally". Then I scroll down to see it keep going & going....NNnnnnnooooooo Just kidding. Good points in there. You should probably include a table of contents with the next one, though. [ This Message was edited by: KSN Doug on 2002-01-14 13:39 ]
  8. Hey cool. Thanks Slider, I'll take a look.
  9. Uh huh, miss judged her height. Shuuuuuurrre he did. I've never been THAT distracted by my verbal instruction. Oh well, bet he won't be again either.
  10. Welcome in Kid. Yeah, he was awsome. Brandon wasn't bad either. Both were terrible losses to the MA community. See you around the boards.
  11. :spitlaugh: Remembering "back in the day when you were 13" from when you're 17??? You're not allowed to use that line yet.
  12. Welcome Slider. So, I take it you deal only in aluminum weapons? I ask because I already have an aluminum practice sword. I'm looking for a cutting sword now. Korean if possible.
  13. No no no. The Magnificent 7 (gunfighters) is the modern version of the 7 Samurai. They help a small Mexican village fend off banditos that always raid the place for supplies. Dirty Dozen is the WW2 movie of guys on the army's version of death row that go on basically a suicide mission into Germany. Both had Charles Bronson in them, though.
  14. Ah, you're not from there!!? Now I get it. You can check out the Kuk Sool Won home page for another alternative for videos and books on weapons training. It is going to be difficult learning anything correctly in that manner, however. Good luck.
  15. I see a common thread between most of us. Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama are great. I like Southpark for the simple reason I can't believe they get away with so much. I also bend over crying from laughing so hard at Son of the Beach. Timothy Stack acts exactly the way I always saw David Haslehoff.
  16. I think he's looking for anything with weapons training involved.
  17. Yeh, I guess that would limit your choices. You don't have anyone (decent) instructing any of the traditional Middle Eastern martial arts? I understand they tend to have some pretty lethal weapons involved.
  18. Works for me. Especially since I can never make the Friday night time.
  19. Jiggy, where is "out here", that no one teaches weapons? Sai, be careful not to generalize. We learn both middle and long staff in KSW. Middle staff coming to your chin, and long being as you described. Middle is obviously better if you're in closer quarters. The long in excelent if you have plenty of room. It also prepares us for learning the spear.
  20. Hey welcome! You'll find a few of your countymen here as well.
  21. The one you have to use on the roads the most up here in New England. LOL Just kidding, I do the thumb.
  22. Probably to be invulnerable. Not immortal, just invulnerable.
  23. You're right, Kickchick. Number 2 release is Christmas 2002. Number 3 release is Christmas 2003.
  24. We don't do the one handed ones. We mainly do the backs of the hands (in four directions), five fingered, two fingered, and if able one fingered push ups.
