I laughed until I cried when the wild bobcat escaped from the zoo, and got painted like a skunk. Pepe just kept getting caught in a tornado of sharp claws!

countering roundhouse kick to ribs
SBN Doug replied to DIABLO's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
That's one of our counters, but we don't roundhouse after catching the leg. We sweep the support leg, take down, then knee to the groin. -
How do you roll properly and do certain techniques?
SBN Doug replied to Rising Soldier's topic in Karate
I'm not sure if this is easily explainable, but here it goes. Here's how we train our students to do a front roll. Start by kneeling on your left knee, right foot flat on the ground in front of you. Put your right arm down inside your right thigh, rotate your hand counter-clockwise (so your thumb points toward your heel) and grab under your right foot. lean forward, so that your right knee now touches the ground, and use your left leg to push yourself straight over you right shoulder. As you push, you should roll along your right arm first, then over your shoulder, then come back up in the same position you started, without letting go of your foot. After you've got control of going straight forward, by pushing yourself that way with your left leg, start from a standing position, and folow the steps above. Once you're comfortable with that, eliminate touching your knees on the ground, but do the rest. Finally, don't grab your foot. Lean forward, with your arm in the same twisted position but your palm just out in front of you, and roll down your arm, over your shoulder, and come back up to standing. Hope this wasn't too confusing. -
Dragonball Z

I believe the GT episodes are scheduled to start on Cartoon Network in September '03. -

Sorry, I'm a bit late. Welcome.

Every possible avenue should be investigated for getting live training. That said, I agree the a tape is better than nothing. As soon as you can drive yourself, drop the tapes and get a dojo.

Jig Saw Mats vs. Folding Mats
SBN Doug replied to Pacificshore's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, we don't do footwork on either. We use th folding mats because we can set them out quick, do the falling, then put them away for spin kicks, etc. -
Welcome indeed. I believe I may have tested for 1st degree with KSN Crabtree. Please give my regards. To Master Harmon as well, if you find yourself near him.

I'm pretty sure Cartoon Network started showing Thundercats reruns recently. About a year or two ago. That was before CN started getting in the newer translated anime shows (Yu Yu Hakisho, Kenshin, etc.)

Welcome to the forums.

Oh geez! I don't know there's enough room for all the good anime of the past and present. I preferred Robotech, because of the continuing storyline. It was more like a novel. I liked Transformers, but every episode was similar to the next. Ones you missed (classic ones at least) Speed Racer (my first ever favorite) Thundercats G-Force And of couse...Looney Toons!! Bugs Bunny rules!!!!!!!!

Perhaps a more appropriate question would be how do you know so much about its description? How did you know this art existed, and where did you get the "Japanese" hint from?
-
Unfortunately, we don't all live in countries with that as their law.

That pretty much sums it up for me.

I think this has gone on as long as it should. The original post was a notice as to getting close to Sadam. It's degraded into a discussion of N. Korea.

I think I've stated this before, but when I received by BB (after 4 1/1 yrs) my master told me: "Now you are ready to begin your martial arts training." I've always remembered that.

You'll have to settle for riblettes if you go and break them all. -
You're last statement is pretty much what I was addressing in a recent article I wrote for KF on chivalry. Ironically, I wrote it about 3 weeks before this whole thread got started.
