  1. I can only imagine the resentment against us because of that unfortunate accident. Sorry for your loss. It's perplexing that even with all the high-tech communications something like this can still happen.
  2. Bork, bork bork. Score of 68 puts me in the Swedish Chef category.
  3. Hiya, Concentrate on academics first and worry about sports later. The chances of getting a sports scholarship is somewhat slim and keeping it for 4 or 5 years is a challenge because if you don't meet minimum GPA you don't stay on the team. Consider a smaller college and keep your grades up. You'll have a better chance of receiving an academic scholarship. There are many available, but you have to apply for them. No big deal. Don't forget there are government grants available and the dreaded student loans. Sometimes you have to do what it takes to stay in even if it means debt. Consult a financial aid office at a college for help. And to answer your question, no, MA won't get you into college, but it'll help your golf game.
  4. From what I've seen and done, Kuk Sool Won combines all three equally. We start basic joint locks and pressure point as white belts. More advanced grappling is combined with striking techniques and some kicking. As I'm approaching my blue belt test, I am required to know about 16 different kicks, 16 hand strikes, and 40 individual techniques which are focused on defending against wrist and clothing holds. There is really no emphasis on one area being more important than the other.
  5. Yes, percentage-wise we won. And the best looking.
  6. Really. My father is from there too. Follansbee to be exact (nothern part on the river, across from Steubanville, OH). Still have relatives there. I kinda like it down there.
  7. Rats. Must talk to PC gods about crashing the other team's drives and not just those in Ohio. Sharks, I am going to be outa town til the weekend for a NASA technical training class. Hope you can hold your own for a while because I don't know if I will have time for the internet. May the force be with you. [ This Message was edited by: ZR440 on 2002-04-09 13:33 ]
  8. Common factors: Popularity, availability, reputation, cost. In my case it's because my instructor also taught a college class that I had taken years before and I knew of his accomplishments in Kuk Sool Won. Otherwise I probably would have ended up in TKD, but I'm glad I chose KSW instead. [ This Message was edited by: ZR440 on 2002-04-09 07:42 ]
  9. I prayed for all of the Mag 6 PCs to crash and this is all I get? Sai just ends up with a cd burner problem? Where for art thou computer gods?
  10. Did you just state that the Taliban prisoners held in Cuba are being treated worse than Tim McVeigh, when he was alive?
  11. Chris, you sneaky little devil! I guess that shows humiliation can be the perfect payback.
  12. Except money.
  13. That's too many brews. I did notice that on that website they listed one that is made in a small volume brewery not far from me. Kinda cool to see. Another Survivor challenge: Consumption of beer and pickled eggs. This is a Michigan UP tradition, usually garnished with salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Don't plan on leaving the house on the following day though.
  14. I almost had 10 correct but selected Miller twice. KickChick, sounds like you've done some of these games before. Here's a tie-breaker: projectile vomiting. Outdoors, of course.
  15. Yeehaa! I guess I don't need surgery or a brace after all. The doctor reviewed the MRI scan and other than a dislocated kneecap, everything is fine. He did say kicking places a lot of stress on the knee and keeping the muscles built up in that area is essential. So, I guess the tip of the day would be to do your leg extensions and curls.
  16. 9 out 12 correct. Canada wasn't even represented there. So, KickChick, you found common ground among some of us. We could start our own Survivor series for Beer Lovers with tests like this.
  17. There is nothing like the sound of opening a beer after a long day at work. [ This Message was edited by: ZR440 on 2002-03-27 07:05 ]
  18. You can make a bench or table out of chain if you have the patience to weld every link together.

    Cars etc

My cruiser is a Chevy 4x4 Silverado, but I've had a few hot rods. Am in search of a Buick Grand National or older GM muscle car.
  20. Sure, why not. They improve coordination, flexability and strength. Cross training in anything will have it's benefits.
  21. Yes, Muay, there is supposed to be seperation of church and state, but our system was constucted based on religious morals and beliefs. This isn't anything new. Just study Western Civilization to get an idea of how the church influenced government hundreds of years ago. Then compare that to mid east countries of today. Different times, different religions, but the political structures are based/influenced by religion. Israel vs Palistine is a more complex situation that can't be described in just one paragraph or even understood by what you see on TV, so don't base an opinion of what they are doing over there until you read the history behind the conflict. Guilt by association is an unfair reality of life. Educate yourself on these subjects and you will understand the world a little more and maybe be able to change the minds of your idiot friends.
  22. It's been a long cold winter and need to lose 10 lbs or else I'll be buying bigger pants soon. I'm not looking forward to light beer at all.
  23. It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're working with a bunch of turkeys. - unknown
  24. Never let your gaurd down against a lower belt. They'll accidentally get a good one on ya.
  25. Found the website at the college offering it. Check it out. http://www.nmc.edu/~smith7/welcome.htm
