  1. did you see my second post, I describe one way to do this.
  2. Its a KEMPO thread I had to add my two cents. KEMPO/KENPO and KARATE are two words that mean the same saying KEMPO KARATE is like saying KUNG FU KARATE. A pet pieve of mine. In regards to the Traditional vs Modern , If you think about it all of the TRADITIONAL ARTS they would fit into what people call MCDOJOS today. I have great respect for the foillowing arts they are just an Example : ISSHINRYU crated from a SHORIN RYU and GOJURYU stylist who thought he had more insight than his instructors, he left created his own style and became GRAND MASTER. Often this one sign of a current Mcdojo. There is much said about the OLD ways and how we today could never compare to the late great masters of old. I feel that this is wrong training is training it is what you put into it, if a person trains 7-12 hours a day they will reach amazing skill levels. The ARTS have always been about taking the system and making it your own so it will work for you. I believe SHOALIN KEMPO is Fred Villari's system , I would not refer to him as an ASIAN MASTER , especially since he will sell you a black belt with the video course no instructor/ dojo time needed.

  4. still I don't think that will do it, due to head postion during attacks. If he use a forearm strike underthe chin pushing the head back 45 degress to setup a single knuckle /pheonix eye punch , this uses the second knukle of the middle finger to strike the neck about 1 to 1 1/2 inchs to the side of the adams apple there are two vital points ST9, LI18. These will ativate stomach / st and large intestine /li meridians and with the forearm strike can provide such a result. KYUSHO JUSTSU stuff
  5. During a struggle the neck tenses and the muscles do a good job of protecting it. The points that make these areas lethal need to be exposed so a one blow situation will not work. These points need to be hit at the right angle and in the proper direction.
  6. I think you need to check your facts , those are not one blow/kill shots.
  7. As a younger artist (44) I have studied several arts with RYUKYU kEMPO being the core. Much of my stance is when people review a few comments on a web page a draw ocnclusions from such inofrmation without validation. I enjoyed your responses for the fact they contained, well facts. As Taika Oyata once said to a class I was in " only a mind that is completly open can learn." I try to always look at others opions of myself as well as those I respect with that in mind.
  8. Shorin - Moneymaker had been associated with DILLMAN at one time , however they have long since seperated. Perhaps the opening comments on OSENSEI SOKENS notes were directed at DILLMAN. To my knowledge Rick Monemaker is about 50 You bring alot of good points in regards to ranking , and since a few have " associtation" I would not be surprised by the honarary from the JENPO and TKD rankings. However the OKINAWIAN styles even your style use all the same KATAS and the possability for rank testing is vaild.
  9. shorinryu - did you miss the begining statement " Some people claim that there are "secrets" in the martial arts. Others will claim that there are no "secrets". Some will use such topics for marketing purposes and to make themself appear more than what they are. In keeping with the tradition of the Dragon Society in regards to exposing the truth concerning pressure points and their usage in the martial arts, we present these "secret" notes to the public and allow you to decide for yourself. " Since Osensei Soken spoke only spanish and japanese it is safe to say these notes where translated. I would also comment on the word secret being in qoutes. The comments about his name are weak and I will not comment on such weak arguments I would suggest knowing the man before passing judgement, Since dropping names seems to impress some such as SHORINRYU SENSEI the following person is just one person from OKINAWA that respects Tom Muncy and Rick Moneymaker. Tetsuhiro Hokama 9th Dan Hanshi, President of the Okinawa Goju-Ryu Kenshi- Kai Karate-do, Kobudo Association and founder of the first Karate museum in the World. http://www.uskenshikai.com/uskenshikai/Senseihok.html To think that OKINAWA , JAPAN are void of Martail Arts Fraud and political bullshit is being ignorant. I would look very hard at ALL instructors. If you doubt his credintials email him and ask I am sure if any are honary he will tell you.
  10. I am a DSI member and know Rick Moneymaker. He founded TORITE JUTSU on the site https://www.dragonsociety.com is a list of the groups who he recieved the founder acknowledgment from. I can tell you he has been training for over 25 years, does it full time. He has amazing knowledge of KYUSHO ( vital point striking) and TUITE ( joint maniplulation ). Since many arts use the same KATAS , Kicks , strikes. A person can be ready to test for rank much faster when training as a new off the street person. I can tell you that he is not a " BELT FACTORY " type of instructor, one better know whats what come test time.
  11. It is the TRAINING not the STYLE of fighting.
  12. there are dozens of dojos to choose from in that part of the state. You should have no problem finding a place to suit your needs.
  13. TAO wrote - State of the Arts Karate Institute Piscataway, N.J. http://www.markklineskarate.com/ You mAke fun of DILLMANS karate and trash him yet recommend his right hand man. Mark Kline is a DILLMAN 7th dan
  14. Stold I agree , it help to get the body and breath insync so it will work at peak effciency , max power and speed with min. drain on the energy.
  15. Kata bunkai is differant in every style, the same kata are done in OKINAWA and JAPAN yet the breakdown will not be even close to each other. Your SENSEI probably would rather you work on the things you need for his training and the way his style view them.
  16. nicely put, I want to add that Taika Oyata is one of those people who hold this information. Also unless you train hard for many years with him you will just not be able to have a full understanding of the KYUSHO/TUITE techniques. The DILLMAN worshippers often slam me for such views. I find that Rick Moneymaker has extensive knowledge on this subject. Since I have been associated with him he has not spent anytime discussing " NO TOUCH KNOCKOUTS, KIAI KNOCKOUTS" , rather we have worked on practical applications using TUITE/KYUSHO concepts.
  17. when I wrote "Dillman like many others where shown KYUSHO ( PRESSURE POINT STRIKING ) and TUITE ( Joint Manipulation) by Taika Oyata when he first came over from OKINAWA. Dillman then trained for about 1.5 years with him then he started his own version and cranked out a series of books/tape/seminars claiming to have unlocked the secret of KATA" I was stating my understanding of the Dillman/Oyata connection, not where Dillman first learned preassure points. I often hear/read Dillman students stating that Dillman rediscovred the secrects of Karate Kata, this simply not the case. Since Many people have guided him in his teachings of the subject learned would be a better word.
  18. Dillman like many others where shown KYUSHO ( PRESSURE POINT STRIKING ) and TUITE ( Joint Manipulation) by Taika Oyata when he first came over from OKINAWA. Dillman then trained for about 1.5 years with him then he started his own version and cranked out a series of books/tape/seminars claiming to have unlocked the secret of KATA. The fact is Taika Oyata is a true OKINAWIAN KEMPO MASTER no flash , just true knowledge. In the late 80's and early 90's I trained under one of his senior students. I now train under Rick Moneymakers's DRAGON SOCIETY for this information since where I live there are no schools connected to OYATA. This is a lnk to OYATAS bio. http://www.ryushu.com/oyata.html I also recommend his book RyuTe No Michi , which posted under the suggestions for referance library thread.
  19. I saw an infomercial where Villari has his " White to Balck belt " videos, become a master with his proven techniques. If you have a mailbox and a vcr you can be a BlackBelt. I think that someone who has been tarining people for as long as he has should know better. There has to be time with a qualified person to really know any art.
  20. it is too easy to damage the knee, accidents have cause many MA to have to stop training. There also those who forget about injury during training and try to sue. Waivers mean less then you would think in court. So the instructor must make sure the training is safe for everyone involved.
  21. Reklats - perhaps if you could offer any information as abasis for your statements. Sasori_te - once again you save me from having to reswpond. thanks.
  22. I agree with all replies. Perhaps if they were told to help them prepare for when someone decides to hit them. I had a husband and wife instructor/school owners both very good.if any male refused to " hit a girl " Michelle would take them on the mat, the will to survive can be a great motivator.
  23. RyuTe No Michi - Taika Oyata This book is a great read on Oyatas Ryukyu Kempo from OKINAWA. I believe the only place to get it is a WEBSITE of one of his senior students Mike Minor. a google search on oyata/mike minor will work.
  24. Phantasmatic a few questions Are you sure they hate him/her becuase his/her race? Have you heard or seen anything other than this felling you have? does the head instructor now they are acting this way? Bottom line is if the HEAD INST. /OWNER acts this way find another DOJO. I would bet if it is happening it is a couple of idiots who think they are better than everyone becuase the are " instructors". Talk to the owner it could cuase him to lose all he has worked for if these guys are truly acting this way.
  25. This would be style related, in a sport oriented MA like TKD it would work. In a more combative MA it would not serve the child or any adult in the class for some under sixteen into the class do to the type of training. There are also issues with the body growing and doing damage to the bone structure regardless of size at 14 you are still developing.
