  4. For me, it was the culmination of all the training I received, the kata, the sparring, the pushups, the failures and successes, the taking and giving of hits, the briuses and blood loss, the explanations given to me for the moves and patterns, kata and bunkai, the constant "keep your guard up"!! I really don't believe that one style or discipline is superior to the others, I believe that the individual controls and displays his/hers experience and training in their own respective "art" Peace http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521
  5. You can theorize all you want about the difference between point, full, continuous, or any other "sanctioned" sparring events, if the event (tournament/competition) is using UTK rules, judges /referees will and does subtract points if certain contact rocks the cranium...point of contact (target area), control, speed, and delivery are paramount to scoring well. I'm not quite sure as the reference to a "real" fight , please enlighten me Peace http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521

  8. That's true for me I started training at 38 and I'm 49 now, training for the US Open in Orlando this July My hats off to those who train in multi-disciplines, as a matter of fact, one of the katas I perform at tournies , we call Bat Sai ( Bassai Dai (Major) ), which I believe is "borrowed" ? from Shotokan... for me the confidence came after a coupla years and several FAME and ISKA tournies, but then again I'm slow as wet gun powder everybody learns at thier own pace ...keep up the good work... Peace http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521
  9. That's what I'm thinkin' as well...for a "martial artist" to compete in a discipline he is not trained or belted in is (to me) unethical and a breach of code to the respective discipline..makes me wonder what the final payoff was Thanks for letting me express my thoughts and opinions Peace http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521

  12. To me it's not a waste of time if it's required to achieve the next belt level, ultimately, the coveted Black Belt...I also find it helps my focus, concentration, discipline in remembering the sequential movements, and my stamina/endurance....plus I can win trophies to stick in the back of my closet Peace http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521
  13. My opinoin is, that if you take a human life, regardless of your mental capacity/quality,ethnic background, religious preferrence, or style of dress, you may not be responsible, but you need to be held accountable for your actions.... Peace http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521

What exemplifies or resonates true "sport" TKD, whether ITF or WTF styles was the tournament held in Korea depicted in the movie "Best of the Best" with Eric Roberts (just my opinion) as well as some real bouts between Joe Lewis and Bill Wallace... I also crossdress..I mean crosstrain in "shootfighting" to enhance my regular discipine Peace out http://community.webshots.com/user/jakmak521 _________________ [ This Message was edited by: jakmak52 on 2002-06-21 20:45 ]
