  1. I disagree I think you being scared and intimidated is what they want not you standing up to them. exactly if you stand up to them the thought crosses there mind Can I beat him? Bullies will always pick on guys they can beat, and beat easily. If you said okay lets go. The bully would probably say "nah im not gonna waste my time with you" A person who doesnt fight a thug is gonna get beat down anyways. A person who fights the thug may beat the thug or the thug will back down. Bribing a Thug not to hurt you is great deal for the thug he still gets something out of you even if he doesnt get to hurt you.
  2. kill it!!!!! shoot it or something preferably in front of other birds to put the fear in them!
  3. So your tellin me that youve never had a situation where a thug has threatned someone and then suddenly back down when that person said okay lets go. Its pretty common.
  4. forgo to mention the other problem I had was sleeping. Because i got no carbs all i did was sleep. id wake up at 7 in the mornign go jogging then go to school. Had gym class first thing in the morning then after school id go to the gym and workout then id coem home and jogginf again then id go home and crash at 7pm. Id sleep for 12 hours and still be crazy tired. On the weekends I didnt work out but usally slept for 17 hours. That kind of training is too nuts for your body. And who wants to sleep half there life away.
  5. I wanted to compete in a bodybuilding competiton when I was 16. Getting that low of body fat was hard to do. I never did end up competeing. I did lots of high rep exercises and lots of cardio. However for dieting all ate was eggs for 6 weeks and drank water, I also took multivitamins. I did have my body fat percentage tested and it was at aproximently 3%. I looked great but felt like crap. I never dehydrated myself though. I dieted that way for 6 weeks but I started to have blackouts. Id be lying down then id stand up and not be able to see for 20 seconds or so, after that I decided not to compete and rather just stay in shape. Other bad symptoms include you sweat alot and because of this you can develop lots of pimples your face becoems really thin looking etc. I was just looking through my grade 10 year book the other day and i was like damn i was ripped. My girlfriend was shocked to believe it was me and said my face looked totally differnt.
  6. Im not a chi believer in the way that taoist are. im more so the type if i dont see it with my own eyes or undertsand it it doesnt exist to me. Now there are many things that one could say exist in the universe but if you dont know what it is or understand it then it does not exist in the mind of the individual. Jerry love is the guy to talk to if you want to learn about chi in a religous and philisophical way. As far as I know energy can niether be created or destroyed only change forms.
  7. Everyone has abs everyone has a six pack undernieth the fat. My question is how nessisary is it to visually have a six pack ? Well deffined chisseld abs look nice but a person can still have a flat stomach with extremely hard abs. The less bodyfat you have determines how much of your abs start to show generally for men you can start to see abdominal deffiniton when you are under 10% bodyfat. Most athletic men usually range between 8-14% body fat. I myself am athletic I have a flat stomach and extremly hard abdominal muscles I use to have a really low body fat percentage when i was younger about 3%. I had incredible abs then the problem with being so deffined and ripped was the dieting very few carbs... so little energy. In my opinion anything below 8% body fat starts to become unhealthy.
  8. Thugs are a lot like hyenas and vultures they never go after a strong and agressive animal they tend to prey on the weak. 90% of people will try and avoid a fight. The other 10% are thugs. I think that when faced with thugs one should be agressive make a mean face when your fighting look mad with each hit and make some sort of angry noise. Making yourself look angry and hit angry give you a psycholgical edge. Hitting agressive does not mean you are out of control. Now saying that many thugs have been surprised by a calm little old man whos well experienced in a martial way. Learning to control agression is difficult at first, a good way to learn is to practice sparring with someone who is a better fighter then you. Make a rule that you can only target a certain area and your partener has more freedom. An example would be you can only use body shots however the other person can use body and head shots. The other person having more selection combined with the more skill is going to make you frustrated, and your gonna be tempted to use some head shots when you start to lose, the point at which you decide not to use the head shot and try another body shot you learn control.
  9. Hmm this in the internal arts secton so I would assume youd want some sort of chi to enhance your punches. I dont know how to do this. However... I recomend the development of the chest ,triceps and front deltoids. Do lots of push ups, and bench presses. I like using a heavy weight for bench pressing with one or 2 rep sets with long periods of rest they will help you develop explosiveness. There is no substatute for a heavy punching bag though. throw punch after punch after punch untill you cant lift your arms. Do this for 6 months and I guarantee you will hit harder. There are also some iron palm techniques that could help you but I dont know much of this either.
  10. Im a short fighter and fairly stocky 5'4 190lbs im in good shape ive been weightlifting for a number of years. I was just wondering what sorts of profesional fouls there were in boxing? Which professional fouls would be good for me to practice and train ? Also which professional fouls should I train to defend myself against ? I know they are illegal and most would consider them dirty but they do happen.
  11. The point i was trying to make was the physical size of a person determines a large portion of who is going to win in a fight. Now i know your gonna say that is not part of the thread, however I disagree in many martial arts physcial training is a large part of the program. There for it does come down to in the end fighter vs. fighter. The style does play a certain role, however many boxers would say. Every guy has there day, it doesnt matter how hard they trained or how long theyve been training, whether they just didnt feel right or didnt throw the right combinations whatever the reason, eventually everybody loses. So if you were to say which art is better.. it doesnt really matter. If a boxer trained hard every day for 5 years and a tae kwon do practisioner trained hard everyday for 5 years. They would both be equal.
  12. wushu looks good because there are lots of long fluid movements. Limbs extend far out and it appears very graceful and very fast and Jet Li makes it look damn good. I think Jackie Chan is Wing Chun based but I could be wrong. Im sure Jackie knows lots of martial arts by now.
  13. Chi is your breath. Oxygen is what we need to survive. Oxygen is carried through our whole body. Oxygen gives you energy. Ever hear of Blood doping. Athletes having more blood then there supposed to also having more cells to carry the oxygen. So they perform better. Chi is simply inhaling and exhaling. That is the scientific point of view. I mean no disrespect to those who have religious beliefs on chi. Nor do I want to change those beliefs.
  14. A person im sure could practice Muay thai all there life they might not be able to kick as hard as they used to but they could deffinately still practice. Your body would get pretty damaged if you were a Hard core fighter in Thailand but most of us dont have fight after fight after fight for 5 years. And even if you did you could still teach Muay Thai. Many believe that teaching is the first step to a deeper learning.
  15. So you say it is the art? Well Heilio Gracie is very profound at Jiu Jitsu a great fighter we can all agree. Has Many Decades of experience. Lennox Lewis Great Boxer has a few decades of expereince. One can agree that he is a great boxer. Both are great in there styles. Most would Agree that Jiu Jitsu is more advanced and complex then boxing. (Boxing is very complex in its own respect) Now who do you think would Win between Lennox and Heilio? You have to take in account for the physical size and natural Agressiveness. How strong they are how much pain tolerance they have. Ill give another example. Joe has practiced Karate for 5 years he is 5'7 150lbs. With aproximently 9% body fat. Hes in Fairly good shape. Extremely good at Kata. BillyBob is a farmer he knows no martial arts. BillyBob worked hard on the farm all his life and when he got in trouble he got a bad whoppin. Billybob is 6'8 weighs 345lbs and has about 11% bodyfat. Hes in great shape really strong and has a high tolerance for pain. Now whos gonna win Billybob or Joe ?
  16. wushu aparently looks best on camera
  17. I like Tyson as of recent mainly cause he knocked soem dude out in 49 seconds. But my Favorite would have to be butterbean I like hwo he goes for the knockout as soon as the bell of the first round rings.
  18. each martial art has its good points and bad. the most common disadvantage of boxing would not be kicking. However you have to go back to the old england pugilists who believed that kicking was cowardly. Most britans wore shoes or heavy boots being kicked with a big heavy boot is not nice. Infact if you go way back wrestling and grappling were also incorported into boxing untill this one guy I forget the name, destroyed the grapplers/punchers just by punching this was a huge crowd pleaser and more competatants started to use there fists over grapples. Later on the rivalry between the french and english was quite strong. The French had there martial art Savate which was made up of almost entirely kicking. The french Savate' and the english boxer had a match the english boxer basicly anhilated the frenchmen because he never kept his fists in front of his face, used his hands for balance and momentum. After he got beat he went to england and trained for several years in boxing came back to france and started his school le boxing de francais. In which the kicks were still used from Savate but all of the punches are from english boxing. Welcome to modern day kickboxing ! By the way the foot work involved in boxing is amazing! Second to none.
  19. Hello, Ive recently started practicing Muay Thai. Just simple basic moves from books, the net etc. I had a few Questions. 1. I live in Manitoba Canada Ive been tryign to find a club where I can practice ive had no success. Anyone from MB here? 2. Im right handed or right sides which ever. Should I train to use both sides 50/50 equally good ? Or Should I go with 30% left and a 70% right ? 3. Is kicking high as in like head shots important? I am flexible enough to kick that high but feel awkward, with less control and intensity. Should I just kick as high as the lower ribs and Use my fists for higher blows ? 4. I have a heavy bag and use that often should I use the rolling pin method to help damage the nerves ? I know some say that this will cause more problems later in life but does it actually effect you that bad to have few nerves in your shins ? thank you.
