  1. Oh almost forgot incase you dont notice in the top left corner of the link I put up it says Headquarters Department of the Army Washington, DC, 18 January 2002 all you have to do is look at all the nice pictures
  2. http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/3-25.150/toc.htm check this out have a look at chapter 3 Looks a lot like BJJ to me. You never answered my question do you think BJJ is a sport ?
  3. Yeah I agree Tyson would probably do better in WWE there is more money to be made there.
  4. Have you contacted the British secret service Im sure they could use some mroe 00 agents. Hehehehe its just too funny. I can see where it might be good to defend yourself if you are the driver, but defending yourself as a passenger against a driver gets a little tricky. Sure you clock the guy he get ko'd somehow and......CRASH !
  5. Really I never knew that the US military was teaching its soldiers BJJ in unarmed combat training because they were entering there soldiers in tournaments. So are you saying that BJJ is a sport ?
  6. Im probably gonna get Jumped on huge for liking mastering 1 art rather then mixing many. So befor that happends id just like to say, I believe it would be better for me to master 1 and not mix. Mixing may be better for others.
  7. Judo rules, the nice thing abut combining Judo with BJJ is they compliment eachother, If BJJ was your main martial art that you wanted to master learning Judo wont mix you up as much as Learning Tae kwon do at the same time. Im usually one to say its best to master 1 martial art, rather then to mix but mixing an art that is so closely related is an exception for me. You do hip throws and break falls and lots of others in both Judo and BJJ. I wish the school I went to gave credits for Judo or other martial arts.
  8. Im not trying to bash you, as I think it is a really good idea to master 1 style. If you are really interested in sparring with some experienced ground grapplers, go down to california and make a friendly challenge to one of the Gracies. As far as I know the Gracies love to expose Brazilian Jiujitsu to other styles.
  9. hahahahahahaha
  10. what sort of iron shirt technique does he use ive heard of a couple one i some kind of qi-gong type thing, the other is impact with medicine balls and such. Im assuming that his was not the qi-gong method, but there could be other methods.
  11. Some boxers fight toe to toe others dont, sure they have to get in closer to punch. But not all boxers are sluggers. Like I said befor If you try and hit an experienced boxer with open hand, eye gouge, knife hand, which ever he is still going to react the same as if you were throwing a jab, hook, cross or uppercut. He may dodge just by moving his head he could pivot and side step around you there are many things that he could do, a person can throw an open hand attack at about the same speed as a jab. The boxer most likely wont expect a kick while fighting in close because he will GENERALLY act similar as he reacts in the ring, but befor the first blow is delivered he will generally keep out of kicking distance untill he can close in. As For grappling, boxers clinch all the time it makes boxing kind of boring but SOME boxers will try and out mucle the guy and throw him away so he can punch again. Boxing is very Intelligent as I am learning, Im still trying to break the habbit of using my arm strength to punch I have fairly big arms, but using the ground and my feet for the power is much less physically draining. Boxing is not perfect but it is certainly not useless either.
  12. okay kick them in the knee then, you dont need to kick high
  13. depends if i was wearing boots or not, id probably only ever kick someone hard in a street defence situation, in which case id be wearing boots or shoes.
  14. the names 1, Delta1 Okay how would you fight someone in a small airplane ? sorry had to put that.. too funny
  15. boxing is a martial art. They used to teach boxing to soldiers. Boxing has become a great sport, and has changed quite a bit since the 1600's. At one time there were no rules in boxing, it was basicly no holds barred fighting, looked a lot like kungfu san soo. Boxing also had throws and takedown techniques. Boxers use to dip there hands in sheep urine and alum crystals to toughen up the skin. Boxing became Illegal in the 1800's for a while. As it was too brutal. many countries have outlawed there martial arts practices because they were too brutal at some point in history. Most people will say oh well that was back then boxing is jsut a sport now, the same can be said about Taekwon do, Judo, Kickboxing and many others.
  16. that was an older post, I do boxing and Jujitsu.
  17. I just wanna know how that dude got his neck so big, I believe that anyone can be choked out some may be more difficult then others, having a very stong neck would be very beneifial in a grappling situation damn im gonna start doin some neck exercises.
  18. Ive been taught by a friends step dad about 6 years ago and have kept in contact with him and everytiem i go to visit, him and i practice for a while and work on my techniques..so I have had some formal instruction. Probably about 100 hours of 1 on 1 formal instruction, the rest ive been picking up from books etc. Ive learned lots of arm bars and leg locks, and I can execute them on a fully resisting opponent im stronger and or bigger then, but I usually practice with a guy who 6'0 and weighs about 350lbs, and he doesnt woddle when he walks he walks like a regular person, so his leg strength is incredible, thus I usually end up choking him out.
  19. I would say that boxing is one of the best striking arts. As I dont think that any martial art has taken the basic moves and broken them down hundreds upon thousands of times like boxing has. Now I said the basics, lots of martial arts have been studied emensly. Boxing is about 80% footwork and 20% punching. Most hard hitting boxers do not hit with there arms they use the ground for there power via proper footwork and skeletal alignment. Thats not to say you cant hit hard with using arm power as lots of guys sure can throw a mean wind up fast punch. But like I said most experienced boxers will use the ground for there power. The Moves. Jab,Cross,Hook,Uppercut. 4 main punches. Karate and Tae kwon do have a lot more punching/kicking techniques then that. Those main moves are practiced thousands upon thousands of times, boxers are generaly good at those. Physical Training. Boxers GENERALLY do more physical training then other striking arts with exception to Muay Thai and Kickboxing, which are GENERALLY on the same level as Boxing regarding physical fitness. Boxers get punched a lot they get elbowed a lot. Elbowing is the easiest foul to get away with in boxing if your fast hard for the ref to see. Cross Wrote: I agree with you on the lower body shots (below the belt) to some extent a boxers legs are going to be tough with all the footwork that comes into play but will not take the same punishment as a Muay Thai practisioners legs. As For the upperbody, the boxer is guarding his vital areas, Trying to extend your arm to poke the boxer in the eye will get the same reaction as if you were to punch him on that side of his face, Neck shots most likely wont work as the boxer will most likely have his chin tucked his arms ups and his shoulders shurgged. All that is if you even hit the boxer as boxers are trained to move around sure they do get hit a lot but they arnt training to get hit they are training to hit, side stepping and dodgeing a blow is more effective as you dont get hit , you lose more energy gettign hit then you do while your dodging, and your opponent loses more energy if they miss, so dodgeing i would say plays a HUGE role in boxing. In my opinion Boxing is great for self defense!
  20. Got to remember that a human bone is stong but not as strong as a cinder block. However a cinderblock is far more BRITLE then a human bone.
  21. I said it befor and ill say it again. Right... but on topic MMA would be cool to go into a lot of them are to hard core for me though. Id be wanting to compete for fun like be amoungst friends, not to whail the crap out of the guy. Cause if some guy started to really try and hurt me badly Id probably get disqualified cause id be like okay your nuts are coming off now
  22. depends where your aiming to kick. easy to catch ? Maybe if the guy is trying to kick your stomach or chest or head. But I wouldnt try and catch a kick to the shin, as thats where I would aim my front kick.
  23. I had my first break in my big toe a few months ago, it usually heels then I stub it or something and hear a crunch. I think ive rebroken it 5 or 6 times. Usually once every 2 weeks i hear a nice big crunch then it swells up.
  24. Im fairly strong myself but rather short, I practice BJJ with some friends quite often. I find for myself that arm locks and leg locks just dont work, the only take down i can manage against a fully resisting opponent is a double leg take down, some times a single leg. When im on the ground leg locks and arm bars seem almost impossible..i try to execute them but dont have much luck, Im good at passing the guard, and can slip out of a lot of holds, Ive won 99% of grappling matches with my friends, but i always win via choke hold. Ive managed to pull off the Americana once. Any suggestions ? Or are there individual styles like there are in boxing. Boxing:slugger, brawler, boxer BJJ:Arm Guy,Leg Guy, Choke Guy ?????????????????????????????????????????
