  1. Persoanlly id develop incredible grip strength if you wanted to apply some of these pressure points. I think it would make them far more effective. There are some "grip trainers" that can bend pipes roll up frying pans like newspapers and lots of other neat little stunts. If anyone wants to hear more about these look up captain of crush on some search engine do a little digging and youll read soem interesting facts. If a person could develop there grip strength so they could crush bones just by squeezing them. These Dim mak techniques would be a lot more effective.
  2. easier to keep clean yes easier to keep cool no I wouldnt want to wear a black gi while training outside.
  3. he was a strong guy but I think thats a little overdueing it, He was powerful, fast controlled and he one punched bulls. Stongest guy in the world. I think Ill leave that spot for powerlifters and strong man competitors.
  4. How come wing chun is so fast and powerful yet is still considered a soft art ? I havnt found much luck with anyone teaching wing chun in manitoba it seems interesting, similar to shotokan.
  5. you do practice breathing in your hard style dont you ? The translation of Ki,CHi,Qi is breath.
  6. Well which school or province town city or whatever produces the best fighters ? Is there a certain place that the best Thai Fighters come from ? Nak Muay (Thai Warrior) I think this is the highest ranking a Thai FIghter can get, where do most of these fighters come from ? Answering this might help me find various muay thai styles.
  7. dang know one knows the answer to this one
  8. Thats amazing 8.6 a second ? How long did he keep that up for if he could do that for a minute he would be doing 516 punches even at 20 seconds he could still do 172. Thats pretty damn good. However Id like to know how hard he hit with each punch, I think when they do those how fast can you punch or kick there should be a lb per square inch minimum, for each punch ot count. Whats the name of the guy who did that do you have a link to that, I think the guy at least deserves some recognition and have his picture posted for that record. Both arts are fast, wing chunners just throw differnt types of punches they are good along with shotokan. Both are known for there speed. I bet Wing chun and Karate have more similarities then they do differences at a high level.
  9. Pro's and cons of all of the above
  10. makiwara can be made for cheap a punchign bag can be expensive
  11. notice how the foot moves when the hips do when they punch
  12. this thread will probably get closed someone will say its style bashing
  13. meditation, i never meditate, i could always sleep or watch tv and still become really relaxed
  14. shotokan can be fast if the practisioner makes the technique fast, shotokan was meant to be fast, most are except for maybe tai chi.
  15. an hour or 2 depending on how fast you did it
  16. Are there differnt styles of Muay Thai within the system like Karate ? Do nothern Fighters fight differntly the southern etc. ? Do they have any perticular names to the styles etc.? Or is Muay Thai just Muay Thai.
  17. Kyokushin and Shotokan are very similar a lot of the karate styles are very similar. Kyokushin has the full contact and slightly differnt kata's, probably a few other things. I think it would be much harder to just tap someone with full power then to actually hit someone with full power. Are there differnt styles of Muay Thai within the system like Karate ? Do nothern Fighters fight differntly the southern etc. ? DO they ahev any perticular names to the styles etc.? Or is Muay Thai just Muay Thai.
  18. I know there are soem pro bodybuilders that have pretty intense training. But these guys also openly admit to steroid use and dont need any recovery time.
  19. What is your style, i may be able to find some information on it, like the specific name
  20. I agree the awkward stances are just there to help you develop good strength and posture.
  21. I wouldnt. If it was unarmed id just take it. Armed Id stop her from hurting me, but i would not want her to expereince any pain, Id rather just hope she gets frustrated and stops. But if It were life and death and she was pointing a gun at my head, its to hard to say, but I have a huge thing about never intentionally harming a girl.
  22. Well it kinda gets into a name calling thing untill someone finally says okay prove it. And lots of peopel try to prove it, and I think those are some very memorable moments. Bruce Lee, Proving the concept of JKD. Mas Oyama, Defending the honor of Karate. The Gracies, UFC. Im not saying anystyle is the best, as in this topic my vote was sit on the fence. In the Defending the Honor of Karate Mas Oyama defeated 2/3 out of the Muay Thai kickboxers. He did not defeat all 3.
  23. Anyone here no of soem amazing feats by perticular martial artist Mas Oyama:Killing bulls with a single punch Bruce Lee:Exploding Heavy bags With a side kick My personal favorite. farmer burns:6ft hang mans drop while whistling yankee doodle
