I don't think those guys would stand a chance in the UFC, I see no grappling or face shots? They just stand there bumping each other and kicking. A trained grappler would knock em down quick, just my opinion though

I don't want this to be a nit picky fight, just list your style and the things it emphasizes and why you think that it is or isn't more effective than Karate or any martial art. Basically what are the pros and cons of your art?

What are the rules in full contact karate and do you have any sites where I can see clips of fighting?

What are some exercises to be able to jump really high and kick, for example to do a 720 kick? Or any sites that show techniques for taekwondo kicking and exercies. Thanks

Top 10 Self Defense Martial Arts
sansoouser replied to aznkarateboi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I find it funny that shotokan karate finds it invincible and that it can take any grappler down with it easy. And it could hold up against any grappler. I've seen " good " grapplers and they can take a few puny punches from a karate guy use to hitting the wind and focusin'. -
Scissor Squeeze
sansoouser replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
There once was wrestler who trained bursting flour bags with his legs in the scissor hold, it's said you could tap about anyone with this hold. -
Ed " Strangler " Lewis was famous for his head locks, by the way he is an old time pro wrestler ( the real deal, not WWF ) and anyway his head lock was around the head and jaw, it worked as he said like a boxers punch to the chin, overloading the nerves and causing a knockout. Now it wasn't a choke but he could squeeze hard enough to shut off the the brain and knock them out. TO train for this he mad a replica of a human head made of 2 pieces of wood connected with adjustible springs. So he would squeeze it until he bursted it apart then put new springs in it. On another note another wrestler he wrestled was famous for his leg scissors, this guy would squeeze a bag of flour until it bursted, they had 3 matches against each other a total of 11 hours and Strangler was the only one to throw the other guy, they had just one throw in 11 hours of fighting... One match went on for 5 hours, another for 3 and the last for 3 again.

Tae Kwon Do improvments in Combat
sansoouser replied to CrazyAZNRocker's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I would also recommend alot of sprint work and practice hopping fences to get away fast. Just to add to my last post, I had a friend who was a 5th dan in TKD and we were in a parking lot when a guy came out and told us we were on his turf, we told him we were sorry and tried to walk by, he got angry and took a swing at my friend, he grabbed the guys arm with his left and and pulled him forward and off balance then did a kick to the guys right side of his jaw bone and KO the guy... it was funny to watch and shows that high kicks can be effective if learned properly! -
Tae Kwon Do improvments in Combat

Well, I've seen tkd students get smashed in a fight, but If you spar with all the striking, fist to face and foot to face, then like all sport martial arts it helps you in a fight. TKD gets a bad rap from people trying to use those fancy kicks in a fight, all effective martial arts just use the basic moves and nothing fancy. For instance kicking to the knees, groin, or stomach if you are good at them are effective. Kicking to the head takes alot of skill in a real fight, I wouldn't try it unless they were drunk and bent over gasping for air. There is a book on Low Kicks For Maximum Damage, it shows a good view on them, but once again I would NEVER use a high kick in a fight. Well once again that's just me and all I like to do is grapple, punch a few times then get in and try to throw them to the ground then get the heck outta there -
In the army I've read the training manual and basically they say strikes are used to set up throws and other powerful moves, but they don't use strikes to kill just to stun. And they do alot of chokes and armbars with a few basic throws such as ippon seio nage, o-soto-gari, and any hip throw. Yes, it basically is a BJJ or Judo course using only the most ly basic moves. Nothing fancy just real world use.

Master
sansoouser replied to sansoouser's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Ya, they seem effortless too, my sensei is around 86 and weighs 250 pounds, he is a grappling expert. Even now he is a challenge to wrestle, he's not necassarily strong but knows leverage well, he's been doing judo for around 75 years. -
Have any of you ever been thrown by a master of judo, aikido, or other throwing arts? Feeling how smooth it was?
-
Rumors? I've read of only 2 times when Bruce Lee fought, and neither was against a trained person, sure he could beat most americans with no fighting or conditioning skills. Same goes for today, the better conditioned fighter usually wins.
-
Bruce Lee never fought, as someone said before he was the greatest swimmer who never went into the water. He's like Jackie Chan a movie actor, he had speed but from what I have read was no where as strong as you'd think, his training was for speed. I recall most his weights he used were under 130 pounds.

Boxing vs Judo
sansoouser replied to MMouse's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Gene Lebell beat a boxer back awhile ago. He choked him out. Go to google and type in boxing vs judo -
I am 15 years old, and it mostly only hurts when I do the pullup so I think I overworked it, so i'll give them a rest for awhile. Thanks for the replies

Devil said " I almost broke my neck, and fell sidewards against the edge of my desk " He was talking about handstand pushups. You need to work up to them they build tremendous upper body strength and shoulder strength. Start by just doing a handstand and holding it, I can holdd one for 10 minutes as of now. I can do a one handed handstand for 2 minutes and 2 handstand pushups with one hand. I can do around 25 with both hands. But anyway just hold it don't give up on them, they are greeat!
-
I recently started doing pull ups, I can do 5 of them now but ever since I started them I have a pain in my left shoulder, it feels like it is inside right in the middle of it. I dunno what it is does anyone know of anything like this or have had this problem?
-
how do you like the life line usa products? specifically the power pushup 2 and power blitzer as well as the ab wheel
-
How do you think you can get super strong? Not just lifting but being able to fight and move effectivley, should you like weights or do body weight exercises? After all orangutans only use their body weight and on " Man versus Beast " It pulled the world heavy weight sumo wrestler in the mud with one arm with barely a tug, no effort

Scissor Hold
sansoouser replied to sansoouser's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
wwe move? lol you misunderstand you poor child... -
Do any of you do traditional kung fu training? Like all the stances and things, balancing on the high poles or hand stand type things. I say a monk doing a handstand once, but he was just on one finger and a guy next to him on 2

What do you think is the best exercise you could do if you could only do one. There was an old strongman who believed the best exercise was the squat, and he could do around 1,200 pounds on it. My opinion on this is the pull up, they have so many variats you can work almost every part of your body. You can lift your knees up and turn so it works your ab and it's a killer for your arms. After all how many apes do you see lifting weights? Even though a 120 chimp can pull 1,200 pounds with one arm! Next, what do you think was the worst exercise or piece of equipment for exercising is. I think it's the lat pull down. Just because it's to easy to cheat yourself on it. Also do you like body weight exercises or weight training better?

who do you think were or are the best fighters. they don't have to be well rounded just good at what they did, preferably a list
